I really wanted to love this coat, but I was in between sizes and unhappy with both the medium and the large. I would describe this coat's silhouette as mostly straight up and down, so if you're athletic/curvy like me, then you might experience some unflattering pulling at the hips. I tried sizing up one to a size large to try to remedy this because I liked the design and color so much, but I ended up looking very wide. Unfortunately didn't work out for me.

I bought a size above my normal winter coat preference. I love this coat!! Im 52 and a size XL hits about mid-calf. Winter is winding down in the northeast, but I wore it today for some predicted winter weather. I was super cozy - felt like I was wearing a nice fluffy down blanket. I love the chest level pocket placement. Highly recommend for anyone that has to spend time out in the weather!

This coat surpasses my expectations. Its ultra warm and comfy. As other reviewers have noted, the placement of the pockets is a bit odd theyre too high. It works OK for me, but may not for taller people.

I just received this coat and I would love to keep it for the following reasons: color (purple fig) is a rich color that doesn't show stains much and isn't the usual black or blue. Cut even in XL is flattering, not like so many others that look like you slipped into a sleeping bag. Quality is great and the additional side zippers are so handy for car rides for extra room (also it has the double front zip). The hood is detachable and is comfy open and closed and the additional flap shields from cold winds. I love all that! Big But though: the pockets. Feel bit like Napoleon. In XL they sit so high, my shoulders actually are raised a bit, it isn't relaxing or practical. Zipping up is really awkward and leaving them unzipped makes the chest part look even bigger, especially looking at it from side. I so hope they drop the pockets down next winter and I'll be the first to buy it, even full price! It is a bit snug in the shoulders on me due to the feminine cut, so offering a XXL would be advised in my opinion (I am 5'6" and 193 lbs).

I have researched and researched winter coats, and kept coming back to this one. I am so glad I finally purchased because this coat is amazing. I am 5'5 140 lbs, and a B cup, and I carry my weight around belly/hips/thights. The Medium fits exactly as I hoped it would. There is enough space to wear additional layers, but this coat is so warm and cozy that I have NOT needed to--it's really game changing if you live in place with brutal winters. I would reccomend this to anyone and everyone looking for a coat that provides significant warmth. A+ to Marmot for this coat, I am very pleased with my purchase. I noticed there were some complaints about the pocket placement, and maybe if you're a taller gal, it's more of an issue? But at my height (average height, 5'5) plus the depth the pockets, everything feels quite normal and comfortable, literally zero issues. 10/10!

Worst customer service! I purchased an extra small based on the size Marmot said Id wear. It was too small and when I wanted to exchange it, they told me they were now out of Smalls. The coat came four days later than it was supposed to. They refused to substitute any other color. Perhaps had it arrived on time they would not have been sold out of Smalls. Had they not suggested the size, Id have the coat I wanted in the size I needed.

Extremely wam. Fits great. I am 56 and 135 lbs and I can fit a sweater very comfortably under the size small coat. Love the color as well.

Gorgeous! Great fit and color. Im 56 and in between sizes m and L. I got the size 10/L and its a perfect fit. Super nice quality of course. And just perfect for winter.

I've owned and loved the Montreaux coat in size Small for over a decade--warmest coat I've ever had. But I purchased this Prospect Coat for the length--as my knees/upper thighs get cold in Canadian winters when I go for walks in the Montreaux. I hoped the Prospect would be as warm, but it's not. I ordered Prospect size M on sale to save $$, but it's either a bit too loose for me and lets the air in, or just not as warm as I expected (it does have less down Fill than Montreaux). I still use it for shorter errands Dec-Feb, and it's very pretty, but find I need to wear base layer under my jeans when going for walks > 10 min. Also agree w/another reviewer that pockets are a bit too high and midline in this Prospect coat (prefer the lower/more lateral pocket location on Montreaux).

Really great winter jacket. Its stylish and super warm. Very pleased with this purchase!

This coat is incredible. Its so warm weather walking the dog first thing in the morning or standing at a football game its great. The long length is perfect for keeping my legs warm too. And the big pockets help for hands, mittens, and carrying things from the store. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a really warm coat

Still considering whether or not to keep this coat. Its comfortable and warm, but the pockets are so oddly placed. It feels awkward to walk around with my hands on my belly, instead of low and at my side where the pockets should be. I dont know why they decided on this strange design, plus the pockets arent lined so if you want to use them I imagine the coat wont keep you as warm. I wish the darn pockets werent so strange because otherwise this would be a perfect coat!

Love this coat! Very warm and more stylish than other comparable parkas out there. Love the length and the optional side zippers for free movement. I do wish there panel closures with buttons to snap (in addition to the zippers) in order to keep zippers in place, particularly on the hood & sides. If those features were included, would give this 5 stars!

Very happy I invested in this long down coat. Haven't had a chance to test it in super cold temps, but it's kept me nicely warm with temps in the low 20s. I'm 5'3" and the coat falls mid-calf, but is still very easy to walk in, which isn't the case with other long coats. My only negative is the rather high placement of the pockets around my ribs. If I leave them unzipped, the pockets bulge out -- not a good look. So I have to remember to keep them zipped.

I love this jacket, my only reason for not giving 5 stars is the button/snap closure at the top. Maybe it's user error, but I can't figure them out and it doesn't close tightly. I expected a little bit more from such an expensive jacket but overall I looooove this coat and stay warm whenever I wear it. The side zippers on the bottom are so clutch for mobility.

I haven't worn my jacket yet, but it has the quality workmanship I love about Marmot! My only complaint is that I was unable to close the snaps on the hood. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars! The hood is well designed to protect from rain with which is great! I love the length! It is very lightweight but very warm and comfy! The size I ordered is big to allow me to layer underneath.

I got it for camping trips so the look wasn't that important, but it made me look like a centipede!

I burned a hole in my old marmot coat I bought in 2014 last year at a bon fire. I wanted to love this one but was very disappointed at how much more expensive it was and how the quality was not what i was expecting. It was too long and doesn’t feel like it will be water proof to the degree my old one is.

the snaps on the hood closure around neck were terribly tough to close

Everything was great about this coat, the weight, the hood, the zipper, the length EXCEPT the pockets. They were ridiculously high on my chest. Practically on top of my breasts. I am 5’8” 140 pounds and busty. I’ve never had this problem with fit in all my days. SMH. Could have been the perfect coat.

I just purchased this in Med, I usually wear a Small but sized up due to reviews. The size was OK but the snaps on the hood are not useable. It is hard to make them snap and then very hard to get them to open. I cannot imagine trying to do it in the cold. I am sorry to have to return this beautiful coat.

I purchased this jacket and have worn it for 1.5 winters. I am disappointed in the long term wear of the coat as the filling has shifted and leaves cold spots. Even before it shifted, I found it not as warm as the coat I was replacing. Now that it has cold spots, I wear my old coat on very cold days. I do not recommend this coat.

Cut at least a size small, pockets weirdly high. Otherwise, a beautiful coat. But those are big buts.
