Comfortable but not too supportive

The clifton is very light and fits well but it doesn't it doesn't breathe well at all. My feet felt uncomfortably warm while I walked. I live in the Southwest so I need a well-ventilated shoe. So after a couple of weeks of trying them I took advantage of Hoka's nice 30-day return policy and sent them back.

The regular width shoes the wife and I purchased were too narrow and hurt our feet. So, we returned them for the next size width. Mine came and were the EE width. The shoes are loose at the widest part of my foot, but acceptable. However, my wifes shoes are still to tight in the right shoe but fine on the left foot. She is sending hers back for a refund.

Hoka One One quality control was lacking on this particular pair of shoes. First, the right shoe is made slightly wider at the toe area, which is a mild distraction. More importantly, the left shoe has a small plastic hole that formed within 4 months of purchase (pic.), and it's a major irritant- it's like having an itchy painful pebble that might hurt my foot for the long term (who knows). I need a new pair, and will be trying a different pair of Hoka One One.

I bought a pair of the Clifton 7 because my regular running shoes were causing blisters on my feet. I thought a shoe with more cushion might help. What I found is that the Clifton 7 absorb a lot of energy that would normally help rebound the shoe. While shoe is comfortable, it feels slow because it feels like there is less rebound.

I have had Hoka's for several years. The super-soft sole used to wear out quickly. I have had Cliftons for 2 months (~150 miles), and sole is already coming apart. I love the feel, but disappointed in the durability. Had a similar experience with Speed Goats. If I could find a different brand with similar cushioning, I would try it.

After trying and returning the women's wide I ordered the men's shoe in a wide hoping it would be more comfortable but unfortunately had to send them back also. The only other option for me is to get the extra wide which would probably work but its only available in 2 colors and I don't want black or plain gray that looks like it belongs on a man. The shoes are very nice and seem well made but they are just not for me.

The problem with this version is that the shoe is too shallow and your back heel can slip in and out of the shoe as you run. It’s strange that they started doing this. The body of the shoe needs to be a little higher. It made me sad because they are so comfortable.

If you tend to pronate do to flat arches this may not be a good choice .

Did two runs in the new shoes...right foot pain in both foot and ankle each time. Went back to my Asics Gel shoes and did two runs. No issues. Also tried my On Swiss running shoes - fabulous fit and experience. All shoes are the same size 10, normal width. Honestly, I'm disappointed. They look nice...Maybe they will work out as working around the house shoes?

I bought them hoping they would be great for training. I found them to be painfull, I'm use to Brooks Ghost so I was looking for something faster more springy and they are! But I must land wrong for these shoes as my feet hurt after using them. I figured it was because they were not broken in but they don't seem to be getting better.

I loved the Clifton 5 and 6. But not the 7. The redesigned heel allows slippage; the Velcro straps attached to the tongue are uncomfortable; and most of all: the sole must have been changed because my step is not as light and effortless.

Hoka changed the way the tongue stays in place. They added a strap to each side of the tongue that extends down the side of your foot. The straps bother my foot, sadly the clifton was my go to shoe until now. Am searching for a different shoe and may need to switch brands.

I ordered these shoes in a size 12D which is what I normally wear in New Balance. I wanted to see if there was an alternate to the shoes I normally wear. The Hokas fit well in the heel but were too narrow in the front and the toe box was too narrow. They were also about a half size too short. I did like the cushioning, as I weigh 215 pounds.

Love Hoka shoes. This is my second pair. This pair tends to cause my feet to burn on bottom of my feet.

Received these shoes today, will be returning them tomorrow. Simply put - the 2E width isn't very wide at all. I would need a 4E width at minimum for the toe-box to fit correctly. Also, the midsole is VERY narrow and squeezes the foot too tightly through the middle. I could only keep the shoe on for a few seconds before I had to take it off. Because these are my first Hoka's, I don't know know if these are symptoms of Hoka or the Clifton 7. I will try another Hoka and will know for certain then.

The shoe appeared to be well made but the stiffness in the sole overcorrected my gait, causing knee and foot pain when I had neither. Unfortunately I had to return.

I was excited to receive these shoes until I could not squeeze my feet into them and had to return them. They are stylish and seem like they would be comfortable if they fit correctly. The size 9 EE Brooks I got fit like a dream!

When the size 10's -- my normal size -- felt narrow, I exchanged for 10.5's -- which are snug widthwise but long enough to qualify in the clown category. First and last experience with HOKA shoes.
