I'm 47 and 158 pounds. I have knees damaged from years of skateboarding, but I took up running about 8 or 9 months ago after biking regularly for 15 years, and I was very careful to move slowly and lightly but still for fairly long stretches (i.e., 6 or 7 miles in about an hour, 4 or 5 times a week). I had some mid-range running shoes that did well for a while but eventually bottomed out. After doing some brief research online, I decided the Hoka Bondi 7 was probably the most cushioned shoe out there and hence the best to protect my knees and keep me on the road. The first time I took them out, they were MUCH firmer than expected and left me with significant knee pain. The second time, they were softer, but after that, they didn't really soften at all over my next four or five runs. I did like the width, general fit, and metarocker sole--and the weight didn't bother me--but the midsole cushioning was why I bought them, and it just wasn't sufficient. I eventually decided to try some other options. On my first day with a pair of Nike React Infinity Run Flyknit's, the difference in softness/cushioning/support from the Bondi 7 was night and day, plus the Nike's fit even BETTER. I also have a pair of Saucony Triumph 18's on the way and hope they're equally if not more cushioned than the Nike's. After doing even more reading of reviews on the Bondi's after trying them out, it seems that a huge portion of the people who really love them use them for standing/walking rather than running, which obviously puts much more stress on one's knees. Perhaps they'll work for some people, but for me, they were a no-go even after a full week of trying them out. I have heard that the EVA foam can vary radically from one pair to another, but a buyer shouldn't have to worry about that in a $150 shoe. I've also heard that the foam can harden with cold weather, but I wore them from the 40's to the 70's, and they were the same. (I live in South Texas, hence the weather shifts.) So buyer beware: the Bondi 7's might work for you, but they might not, and they're by no means the most cushioned, supportive, and protective running shoe out there, at least for many of us.

Main problem is the width. 4E in a New Balance is wide enough but 4E in this shoe is not. Found the shoe's arch support superior but doesn't help if the shoe is not wide enough, causing pain on top part of foot.

This is my third pair of Bondis and the 7's are not nearly as comfortable as the 5 and 6. Still the same quality for running, but the upper seems more stiff and restrictive. Disappointed.

Was very pleased with the Bondi 6 and felt confident the Bondi 7 would be even better. I was wrong. The shoe is narrowed or something and rubs the inside and side foot arches wrong. I've never bought shoes that make your feet hurt until now. Shoes returned. Ordering another pair of Bondi 6s, but once they stop producing those, I guess I'm going back to Asics.

I bought these because I read that they were good for people who are on their feet all day. I wore them one day and it aggravated my plantar fasciitis.

Love them but the right one make a very annoying noise with each step. To much trouble to send back for that reason.

Fit just fine but felt funny walking on them due to the extra padding on the soles. Felt off balance when walking.

The Bondi 7 is not for me... i had 3 pair of the bondi 6 and really looked forward to the advancement of the Bondi 7. However, for me the 7s were heavy and felt like running on sand. The 6s have a spring feeling along with high-cushion that protects my knee and back pain. However the 7s just feel dull and heavy. I sent them back on got the Clifton 7s. I like the Clifton 7s better than the Bondi 7 but just do not have the high-cushion. I don't run as much in the winter months so will keep the Clifton's and then see if the 6s are still available come early spring.

These were my first pair of Hoka One One shoes. They felt great out of the box and were true to size. The padding of the soles was very generous providing an almost floating feel. The problem was they caused blisters on my insteps within the first 2 miles the three times I tried running in them. This is the first pair of running shoes I've had this problem with. Ultimately I had to take advantage of Hoka's 30 day return policy. If it wasn't for the blisters I would really like them. They felt great the first mile each time I wore them.

The Bondi 7 wide are NOT a true wide! I have 2 Bondi 6’s in wide and they fit perfect. The Bondi 7’s are way too narrow! Killed my feet!

It's a great sneaker....Wish I could buy a pair in my needed size: Men's 7, extra wide (5E or 6E).

I can't seem to find a size that doesn't rub the outside tip of my left big toe and I have a size too large already.

Grateful for the wide sizing but the footbed was concave in the 6 and 7. I really wanted to like this shoe but I kept developing foot pain because the footbed was not flat. Hope this is fixed with the 8.

I own a pair of Bondi's in a wide. They were not wide enough for me. When you came out with the extra wide Bondi, I felt like that would be the shoe for me. When I tried them on, they are more narrow in the toe than the first pair that I bought. How can you call them extra wide? I am returning them today. Your people even sent me the wrong color! I already have a pair of grey Hokas. Also, the tongue and the heal pull on the Bondi are so short that they get hung up putting them on. I do love the cushion.

Not as comfortable as bondi 6. Worn it twice to work and feels like it has to be broken in unlike the bondi 6. Left Shoelace came with a fray. Bought this because it had a more traditional gray color scheme. I think the bondi 6 is a much better shoe and it's on sale!

I love HOKA shoes, but if you have wide feet, they only make them in Borning Colors. Wish Hoka would make wide shoes in bright cool colors like Bright Blue most popular colors. Why only make wide shoes in boring black, etc...

I bought the wild rye colorway not even a month ago and part of the outsole is ripping off the shoe! This would be my first terrible experience with quality but I'm really let down. I will be returning them and getting my money back. A running/walking shoe at this price range should never be falling apart within a month of purchasing.

Been a Bondi fan for years, so the 7 was a no-brainer purchase. Big mistake. The cushioning that made me love this shoe in the first place is just gone. It feels stiff, almost hard underfoot nothing like the original. If you're going to change the shoe this much, don't call it a Bondi. Felt pretty deceived honestly.
