These shoes are great for my wide foot and over supination. Nevertheless, I have ordered this shoe 3 times. The first pair I purchased at a running store with limited sizes and colors and purchased an 8. I am sending back yet another order because the sizes have no consistency. An 8 can be too big or 'just right", a 7.5 can be the same size as an 8, and a 7 may be close to fitting. Most of my shoes are 7s, some 6.5. This will be my very last try ordering. Altra sizing person, are you listening? And...how will I be compensated for ordering & returning, again and again and again?

I LOVED the old Escalante, but with this update Altra has ruined them. I ordered the same size I've always worn, but they are too long - long enough to feel uncomfortable but not quite long enough to size down. The tongue is also too long, and worst of all the sole is much, much stiffer. I could easily bend the old Escalante in half with my hands, the new one I can barely bend the heel and toe 10 degrees. They feel awful to run in and give me foot cramps. I wish running show companies would stop changing every good shoe! Altra, bring back the original Escalante!!!

Did a bunch of research on this shoe before buying. Sounded really awesome loved the technology and the concept behind Altra. After running for several weeks trying to make them work I've decided I just can't do it anymore. They're really uncomfortable constantly feel like my foot isn't secure. Tried all different types of lacing methods the fit is defiantly right too it's just the design of the shoe. My feet really hurt after just a several mile run and honestly I just can't wait to get them off my feet after trying to run in them.

Since the my first run in these shoes there was something off. I'm really disappointed and I will be giving these shoes away after only a month. First they feel big and wide (I ordered my normal size). No matter how tightly I tie, my foot slips around in them. The padding through the toe box is uneven to the point where my foot is constantly slipping to the very outside of the shoe and I have to stop and readjust during the runs, even though I have an even gait. I don't have these problems with my superiors or my old Escalantes, so back to my worn down superiors to road run in...
