Still a good shoe and can recommend. However the new colors look like something my grandfather would wear.

Overall I’ve put some road miles on these, however I purchased specifically for the wider toe box since I have Morton’s neuroma. These def were the best for tow box space but lacked ankle support. They have a serious drop so if that’s ok for you, these are great

This is my second pair of Escalantes. My previous pair wore through the toe after a good year of consistent wear. I figured that wasn't enough to deter me from replacing them. The newest version of the Escalante does not fit like the old one, though. It is at least a half size small and narrow--I bought the size that I wear in practically every shoe, and my toes hit the top of the shoe. Even worse, the fabric is already starting to wear through over one toe. I wish I had returned these before I wore them outside--I assumed they would fit like the old ones. Aside from the sizing issues, they are comfortable as before. I prefer the Escalantes for walking, not running. I run about 30 miles a week and like a shoe with a flatter, firmer sole. The Escalantes are too cushy for me to run in and over time make my ankles hurt. My favorite Altra running shoe was the Solstice--wish you would bring that back!! I also run in my Lone Peaks, which have a nice roomy toe box.

The design looks beautiful and the sole is sturdy, but the surrounding shoe fabric is flimsy and it doesn't support ankles when in use. Running is fine but not when switching directions or making quick movement. Have twisted my ankles a few times already. I play tennis and don't do much running so these probably will just be for fashion. Sad because I was so excited!

I love the Escalante's and have the 1.5, various 2.0's, and a few 2.5's... I wish they would have just tweaked the 2.0's and not changed the fit so much. Hopefully they combine the 2.0 and 2.5's! Also hoping they bring back the all white! Other than a few small issues with them adjusting the fit from 2.0-2.5... it's a amazing shoe and you won't be disappointed. I own about 7 escalantes now and it's my go to shoe when I'm not hiking in Lone peaks!

Super disappointed that the toe box on this pair is not the same width as the toe box on my off road Altras. Not a lot of volume in the shoe either, would need to wear barefoot.

I actually love this shoe... until I walk in it. I am used to wearing barefoot shoes but find I require a little more outsole to help cushion those heel strikes on concrete. The Escalante 2.5 has just far more cushion than is comfortable for me so I removed the insoles, which helped, and replaced them with some barefoot insoles. I wore them out for a walk but even the outsole was so thick that my feet and toes went numb and I was in pain. For me, this would be the perfect shoe if it were a minimalist (barefoot) shoe!

I purchased my first pair of Altra's, Lone Peak trail running shoes last fall. I love them! When it was time to update my road runners I wanted to try Altra's again. I naturally have wide feet and buy a D width. With Altra I have found I do not need the D width because of the natural forefoot design of the altra brand. Unfortunately I found the Escalante to run too large and to be to much of a minimalist shoe with little arch support to maintain my foot health while running. I thought I could at least continue to wear these shoes for walking, though found again they do not offer enough support for my arch to comfortably do so.

Very comfy and seems made to wear bare footed. Yet the heel is much lower than other models and like other review, there seems to be missing top holes in lacing. Thus can't secured ankle especially if you use inserts.

I'm split, these are very comfortable and I really like them, but I've only had them a month and the rubber on the toe is separating from the sole already. Frustrating that they're falling apart already.

I own 3 pairs of escalante 1.5, and they are like walking on a cloud. But Altra "improved" them to this. They are not better. The arch does not support as well, the sole is less flexible and the heel enclosure is higher up on my foot, and not in a good way. I am not returning them because they still are pretty good shoes. but they used to be FABULOUS.

Please, please, please put in another row of eyelets on the next model! I could not tie these tight enough around my ankle. Maybe I have abnormally narrow heels or ankles? I'm not sure, but I had to poke holes in these shoes in order to be able to lace them tightly enough to keep my heel from slipping. Kind of a bummer seeing as other Altra shoes have an additional eyelet. Why don't these? It seems weird. With the addition of my DIY eyelets, they fit much better and are fun to run in.

using for walking, hiking. I think the rogue is too long and doesn't want to stay in place. They are just ok, probably would not buy again. Recommend with reservations.

Seems to be a great pair of shoes. The pair shipped to me looked like it had been previously worn. There was fabric pilling inside the back of each shoe. Returned shoes.

I really want to love these shoes. I have the old 1.5's and have finally beat them to a pulp. I'm so sad that the toe box in the new models feels much tighter. I loved Altras because I was able to wear my correct toes with the older models. Now my toes are squished in the toe box without them on. Please bring back what you're known for. I want to embrace the space again.

The nice big toe box is great. The height of the shoe is not favorable in my opinion. Very cushioned and comfortable. For me they are about 1/2 size large. I'm trying a smaller size in a different style than Escalante 2.5.

I did not like those. The fabric seemed to stretchy, thus giving zero support. Will go back to the Altra Lone Peak.

I am in love with the Superior 5, so I was excited for these. However, they are not durable (feel very flat after 100 miles). They have a narrow toe box, but it stretches out and makes shoe feel loose

I LOVED my Escalante 2s so I happily bought the 2.5s without a try on at my local running store. After receiving them I quickly noticed that the upper had changed a little -- not so bad there. But one of the casualties of this change was an eyelet loss. For someone like me with wide toes and narrow heels the lace lock tie (performed by using the upper two eyelets to create and external loop) is a necessity on ANY shoe so now the shoe feels too big no matter what I do. I even tried sizing down and it's still the same. The shoe just slides around and my feet get uncomfortable after a few miles whereas I could run a marathon in 2s and feel fine. I hope this isn't a permanent change.

The tongue is too thin and bites into the top of my foot. The shoe is 1/2 size too small, comparing to the size I get in all my other Altra's. Why mess with these little things? Between this and the way the Rivera fits, it's seems Altra is trying to become like other companies; why not make other companies step up to Altra's positive points.

I am a long distance runner and have been wearing the Altra Escalante for years (it is the only shoe I've found that has a wide enough toe box and does not destroy my toenails or cause blisters). I ordered the new model for the Chicago Marathon (10/10/21) and used them for training a few weeks prior to the race. I noticed that my feet were starting to hurt at mile 13 but pushed through to the end of the race. After removing my shoes after the race, I couldn't believe how horrible my feet looked! Almost every toenail is black and had many fluid/blood blisters in both feet. The toe box on this shoe looks different than on previous modes and I'm disappointed that this shoe no longer works for me. I am almost 2 weeks out from the marathon and am still bandaging and treating my feet. In April 2021 I ran a double marathon and didn't have any issues while wearing the Altra Escalante 2.0.

I wear a size 9 always and wear my shoes a little longer so I won't lose a toenail. These shoes were too short. My big toe was against the end of the shoe without socks. In addition to that, the shoes had an unusual and odd shape in the toe box area. On the inner side of the shoe, the shoe went straight ahead but on the right side, it was curved way out of proportion outward as opposed to curving symmetrically out on both sides equal to one another. There was plenty of room for my toes in width, but the odd shape was unattractive.

The shoe provides no lateral support, my foot slides inward and eventually I'll be walking on the side of the shoe. Very disappointed. Wish I could return them but I've worn them several times outside.
