Fairly new to running, so take this for what it's worth. Training for my 1st Ironman. Bought the Hoka Rincon bc I knew nothing. Knew this was a running brand and that is it. Great shoe, just too narrow and got tons of blisters. Next, went with New Balance fuel cell rebel. Great looking shoe, no bueno for me at all. More blisters. Went to my local running shoe and tried them all on. Put this Torin 4.5 on my foot and immediately I had a winner. I'm only about 15 miles deep on them so far, but they are fantastic. Super comfortable, feels like pillows on my feet...yet supportive in all the right areas. Love the space for my toes to breathe when I run. The tongue...amazing! So far, I love this show.

I swear, I thought that the box was empty when I received my order. I have to open the box right away to make sure my new Torin's are there. This is not my 1st Altra. Maybe my 6th or 7th and the Provision was my 1st one. I will definitely recommend this to any one and feel the difference from brand X running shoes.

I was almost scared off by the reviews here but on a whim found myself trying them on and taking strides at my local store. I knew from the time i slid them on that i would like the fit. After my striders, i was sold on the feel. For comparison i have a moderately narrow heel, high-ish arch and standard forefoot. Everthing about this shoe works for me.

This shoe is amazing. The fit is perfect and the toe box is comfortable. Love the knit too! The lockdown on the shoe is amazing. Heel lockdown is secure with that nice padding around your heel. Other shoe companies and nike are taking away the padding from the heel which I hate. Thank God Altra isn't one of them. I used to wear nikes, but not anymore. Altra made the perfect shoe for me.

I own a double digit number of Altra shoes currently, and these are the most comfortable so far. I use them to work out daily and plan on buying another pair soon, so I don't wear my current pair out too fast. Great fit, great comfort level, great shoe!

I have seen lots of mixed comments, I personally love this shoe though. Nothing bad to say.

I wore the previous torin plush model and this new update is defnitley a bit smaller! I would go up just half a size for this new model and you'll be all set. This new torin is a full oz lighter than the previous one and it is very obvious from the moment you put it on your foot how much lighter it is. I love the new upper, especially the tongue, and its also nice that these laces aren't weirdly long like the laces on the last one were.

After wearing the 4 Plush, I did't think Altra would make any noticeable improvements on the 4.5. I was wrong! Absolutely love this shoe. It fits like a glove in the heal and mid foot yet has still maintained the large toe box. No break in required!!

The previous Torin Plush was a great shoe and performed exceptionally. I've been anxious for the new model and I am NOT disappointed. The new 4.5 feels a little lighter and softer. I use this for short and long runs. Perfect shoe for whatever you need!

Absolutely love the 4.5s so far. I've only put ~50 miles on them, but I have not had any problems at all! I think the width of the toe box is perfect, and I have a slightly wider foot. I was previously running in Hoka's and would always get blisters on the inside of my toes from the toe box being too narrow. These shoes solved that problem for me and I believe the cushion is just right for my longer runs on pavement. Great job Altra!

I've always loved the Altra concept - awesome cushioning, zero drop, wide toebox - however they were always WAY to sloppy. The mid and heel were way too big, voume was to high throughout, they were way to big. Finally they have fixed the design. They still have a roomy toe-box, but the mid and heel are much better fitting, volume is decent & you can actually snug them up. Thank you Altra, you have a new customer!

This shoe keeps getting better and better. Lighter, more flexible upper accommodates my foot VERY well. Very soft yet responsive midsole. Already put 50mi on them and they look brand new.. great durability thus far. Keep it coming and i'll keep buying!

The Torin 4.5 Plush might be the greatest road shoes I have ever worn. Ultra light weight, soft impact, responsive and fast... my knees are thanking me today. As a trail runner I prefer the soft ground under my feet and these shoes certainly reduce the impact of the road making it far more enjoyable. I didn't think the Torin could get much better than the 4.0.. but it did. I love these shoes...Amazing job Altra you guys nailed it with these!

This is my favorite Altra for long road runs. Visually this is one of the best looking in The Altra line up. I highly recommend this. Now can you guys make a competitive racing shoe?

My favorite shoe has been the Escalante Racer. I was looking for a shoe that had more cushion for some long runs. I've taken this shoe out on a 15 mile run and a 16 mile run and I felt great at the last. The shoes foam still seemed very comfy at the end of the runs. I love my Escalante Racers but these new Torin Plush 4.5s are great when I'm just trying to get some mileage in.

Most of my previous Altra experience has been with the Escalante and Superior. These seem about the same width as the Escalante 1.5 but the upper material is less stretchy so the shoe feels more secure in the midfoot. That's a good thing! I tested these out on a long run with miles of loose, uneven railroad gravel -- in the rain no less, and the shoes felt stable and comfortable the whole time with plenty of room for toes to stretch. This amount of cushioning may be too indulgent for shorter efforts but my feet appreciate them for anything over ten miles.

TORIN is my favorite shoe and have used different iterations, with TORIN 2.0 being the FAVE by far! I thought version 4 Plush would be great but was very disappointed in the lacing system which caused real discomfort inside the shoe and really served no worthwhile purpose. The shoe can be OVER-LOCKED and proper lacing technique is enough. Also the upper of late in TORIN has been synthetic which does not mold as well as it should to the foot. It looks like the new TORIN 4.5 Plush could be a dream shoe with all previous "problems" solved! So I am writing this review in HIGH EXPECTATIONS! Thanks, Altra! My wife was wearing her Torin 2.0 Blue today for some light hiking and commented on how COMFORTABLE pleasant and good looking it is!!! When she sees my new 4.5 Plush jealousy may lightly spring up...easily solved--the steadfast hiker deserves a new pair...!

I love this shoe. I switched to Altra early this year not knowing what I was missing out on with the wider toe box. I am also a big fan of zero-drop. The Torin is a great fit and very comfortable on longer, hilly runs. The only complaint I could muster is the left upper began to tear where it meats the lower after about 600 miles. I still wear them despite the 1 inch tear, as it has not taken away from the shoe's performance. I only noticed it while cleaning the shoes after a trail run. The tread has been very durable, showing wear but far from worn out.

I'm 5'8" 145 lbs and I run 2-3 times per week from 3-8 miles usually. I primarily use these for 8+ mile runs and my Escalantes for shorter. Love the look of my red on black torin 4.5 plush. Altra does the cosmetics very well. This is a great shoe with a lot of impact absorption. They do break in over time so they won't be quite as tight after your first several runs. But overall I think the design is still too narrow for my foot to properly splay out per the Altra design intention. It's not enough to keep me from using the shoe, but it would be more comfortable. Just a bit wider would be 5 stars.

The inner lining is very comfortable and the new outer fabric, while seeming much tougher and more durable than the flimsy stuff on the previous model will cause blisters til broken in, if you don't wear good socks. The only real beef I have is I wish they'd kept the heel strap, which I found very useful.

I had an older pair of Altra shoes and loved them but they started showing topside heel wear far sooner than expected. I looked for another shoe with a wide toe box. I bought on line and the new more expensive Torin 4.5 Plush are like walking on a cloud however they do appear to be more narrow especially in the toe box than my 7+ year old Altras. I can live with it but would have preferred to have a larger toe box like the originals. Granted, these look better and are more cushy but I would have given a 5 star IF they had more toe box room which is the reason I buy Altras.. I would recommend with the caveat to consider how wide a toe box you need. Wish Altra would go back to the original toe box design.

The shoe is very comfortable. However, the toe box is more narrow than my Lone Peaks. The heel area is also weird. It seemed narrow and almost like it was pushing my foot out. If the heel and toe were a bit wider, I would have loved these shoes.

Tried two different pairs of this shoe. Both pairs had a squeak in the same place under the right foot. Loved the comfort, but had to send those squeaky shoes back!

Conforms very well to the natural shape of my foot, as advertised. Has made all the difference for me, especially as I suffer from Raynauds Syndrome.
