Bought for my husband. Try to buy several per season. He wears them all the time once the weather gets cold. He is 6'1" weighs 220 lbs and a XL fits him well.

I have purchased these shirts and other SW garments for many years now. They are, simply put, great products. I read the review regarding pilling soon after purchase. Here is what I have done over the years to care for my merino wool shirts, long underwear and socks. I still wear some that I purchased ten years ago. First, merino wool does not have to be washed every time you wear these garments. That is one of the great things about merino wool. However, if you care to do so, wash merino wool after wearing on a gentle cycle. You may use a small amout of liquid detergent taking care not to pour the detergent directly on the garment. Always turn merino garments inside out before washing. Wash in cold water with like clothing items such as polyester. Never wash a merino garment with rough fabrics such as denim, cotton, canvas or rayon. Rough fabrics will cause pilling and damage to merino wool. Never wash merino wool with fabric softeners. Softeners will damage the moisture wicking capabilities of merino wool. After washing, I put my garments in a dryer on Air Dry only (no heat) for about fifteen minutes. This sheds almost all wrinkles (if any). The garments will still be damp when you remove them from the dryer. Hang shirts upside down until air dried. The reason? This will prevent those hangar "pinch marks" on the shoulders of the garment. Merino wool dries quickly and are ready to wear in an hour or so. I fold mine and place them on a flat garment rack in the closet or in a dresser or chest drawer. It sounds like a lot of work, however it is not. These shirts are expensive and it only makes sense to take extra care in their maintenance. I hope this helps prospective buyers. I really love wearing these shirts and will take a few with me when I soon visit Scotland.

I have been wearing Smartwool NTS 250, Quarter Zip shirts for years. I have purchased other merino wool brands, however, Smartwool products are my favorite. I have worn mine hunting (as a base layer next to my skin), fishing, hiking and travel. The uses are endless. I have mentioned in other reviews that I wear mine around the house and while sleeping. I even reduced my heating bill in past years. I am 6'4", 40" waist, 235# and 37" sleeve length. I have a slim to medium build (no gut). Size 2XL fits me perfectly in body, length and sleeve length. The 250 weight is perfect from fall through mid spring. I have never had a manufacturing issue. My favorites are the Patterned colors. For 2018/2019 season, I purchased three patterned colors and three solid colors. I am still wearing Smartwool shirts I purchased eight years ago. I pass some along to my son as he works outside during the winter months. He loves these shirts as well. They wick moisture and keeps you dry. I wore these shirts on a recent hunt. I worked up a lot of sweat on stalks and general activity. They were not washed for several days, however, they kept me dry and warm and the fabric did not stink. May be a little pricey for some, however, if you want quality, if you want to stay dry and warm and stay out longer, these are the ones to purchase.

This is a soft, comfortable mid layer. Thick enough to provide a light, sweater-esque warmth but still light enough to work well in conjunction with other layers. It's a winner!

When these quarter zips go on sale for the fall/winter seasons, I purchase two or three (every year). I love them that much. I wear them for a season or two and then give them to my son. He loves free Smartwool products (at Dad's expense of course). For size comparison, I am six feet, four inches tall, 40 inch waist and 220 pounds. I wear a 37 inch sleeve shirt. Size XXL fits me perfectly in length, width and sleeve length. Talk about wicking sweat, keeping me warm all day long and the most important, No Stink wool fabric. They're great. I hope Smartwool never changes a thing about these shirts. I especially like the Patterned versions with beautiful colors and stripes and or designs. I also purchase the solid color ones. I have been able to reduce my heating bill by wearing one of these in the house and while sleeping. Benefits are endless with these shirts. It has been the absolute best casual, base layering garment I have ever purchased.

I like that this top can serve for both casual wear in town as well as being a functional piece for winter aerobic activities. I like the slightly longer sleeve length and the neck fits perfectly; not too tight or loose. Great fit.

I had purchased two of these products for my wife in the past year and she loves them. Imagine my surprise to receive my very own as a gift. Right out of the package it is a winner! Love the color and the fit and will wear it often-mostly for skiing, but also on other occasions calling for a layer. It's warm and pretty darn perfect!

This is a very versatile piece. My husband wears it as a ski, run, mountain bike layer AND to work when he's not seeing clients. It is the rare gift that I've bought him that he didn't return!
