these tops are exactly what my husband was looking for in a base layer.
they're perfect if they show
and they're perfect when they're hidden.

This product works well as a base layer but is also very stylish and can be worn professionally. Smartwool is one of the most comfortable and warm products you can wear. I have tried many other wool companies and Smartwool products are more durable and last longer.

Very interesting fit. Writing this for the #sweepstakes. The medium I purchased was tight around the mid section and semi form fit around the other areas. I wasn't sure if it was a compression fit or an everyday shirt. Did I mention #sweepstakes?

As to whether it's worth the cost of the shirt or not depends on 2 factors. Functionality and durability. As to the first, I do local delivery so my body is exposed to conditions from cold to sweat and everything in between 12-14 hours a day. I have NEVER experienced a product that has kept me as dry and my core temperature as steady as this base layer does! As to durability, because of how well it functions, I'm trying to be extra careful on following recommendations to help ir last. Before I can comment any further on that, I think it is going to hold up, but I need to let more time pass

These shirts are staples in our house, in any cooler weather. The shale color is even better looking in person. Much darker and richer than expected. So happy with it!

Just an awesome base layer that you can wear on its own if you want. Great constructions and materials.

The length and fit of this is perfect. The feel is soft and holds up to years of wear and washing. I may be overly "cold-sensitive" so take this for what it's worth, but I wear Smartwool 250 Merino base layers pretty much year round - just one on all but the hottest days and two in the coldest days. They are a workhorse in my wardrobe. They will be in yours.

It holds smells. I went out to hike for a couple of hours and it smelled like a metallic kind of sweat. I thought merino wool base layers didn't hold smells. I couldn't believe it. It was brand new unless it had some sort of smell from the factory. It feels good but not happy due to the ugly smell. I ended up throwing it away. Waste of money, they're too expensive for what they really are.

This is an Xmas gift however my son recommended this particular shirt as he has previously ordered same shirt. He has nothing but good things to say about this product as he works outside in all weather conditions.

Great fit and feel. Always warm, never hot. Great for an under-layer, although I wear it primarily as a top layer over an undershirt.

Bought 2 of the 250 crews to use as a baselayer for snowboarding. The layers are comfortable and good at temperature regulating but one of the garments got multiple holes on the back, near my shoulder blade after only a few wears despite being worn under a fairly thick jacket.
I have many other pieces of merino wool clothing and have never had them tear even after years of continuous use. In this case the garment just does not seem very durable. I contacted smartwool who told me this is not covered under their warranty so purchase at your own risk. It is hard to justify spending $100 on a shirt which only lasts a handful of uses.

I really like this shirt for a base layer, but I'm only giving it 4 stars because I've only worn it a couple of times. If the shirt proves durable after several wearing, I'll change my rating at a later time.

Bought this crew to go with my base layer bottom. Warmer than most synthetic tops, but not overly hot. I now wear this over the other synthetic base layer and between the two, I am comfortable.

Really like how warm this stays in cooler weather. The main drawback is that it's not as form fitting as I'd expect from a base layer. I like base layers to be next to skin for maximum effectiveness, and this fits closer to a long sleeve T-shirt.

I wear it during the fall, and winter. It absorbs sweat very well. It'll last for years, but I would avoid washing it in the washing machine. I would either hand wash it, or wash it inside a lingerie bag.

I gave it to my son for Christmas. He loved it. He says it's very comfortable, soft and warm. A great base layer in the cold. Its not at all scratchy and it's true to size.
