I bought this for my daughter who lives in Rhode Island. She LOVES it - soft and warm without being bulky. Not short like a lot of shirts currently are. And best of all - WASHABLE! I ordered her regular size.

So warm. Fit is tighter than I prefer, but I wear it often. I ordered my normal size.

Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
I LOVE the smart wool merino 250 base layer! I have several colors in black, dark charcoal, and a lighter heather grey and after several years of high-use in the fall/winter/early spring months when it’s colder outside the shirt looks just as great today as the first day I bought it. No pilling, no tears, very high quality, and no itchy feeling against your skin. I am petite and a bit curvy and I LOVE the fit. For reference, I am 5’1” 108 pds and the size small fits perfect without being too fitted. Also, I love this shirt isn’t see though, so no need to wear undergarments, and it’s perfect for layering. I have worn this shirt for winter hiking, traveling, casual wear, and running. High-quality material is 100% merino wool, warm, cozy, doesn’t shrink even after many washes over several years, and the material is fairly stink-free if using in high-impact sports (I.e. snowboarding, running). I plan to buy several more in different colors this year! One of my top cold-weather go-to items in my closet that’s versatile, looks great, and never disappoints!

This is a great base layer top for cold winter days. It is very well made and feels great. I also love all the color options. If you are debating between the 250 and the 150, the 250 is significantly thicker and warmer. I would not be wearing this top in any other season. #SmartwoolLove

Great top for everyday and hiking. Longer length in the sleeve is great for coverage when doing a chilly hike. Washes well, breathes well. I'm 5ft 51/2", 145lbs and bought a large, it is fitted but not tight. Love this top, have two in the Merino 150 also. Great quality. I like the long body length on this long sleeve, however, the body length on my short sleeve merino 150 is way to long-tunic/dress like. It does not look as good but still very functional and good quality.

I love love love this. The medium is perfect for me (I am a size 6). The blue is not navy but more a blueberry Or Prussian blue. The quality is great and this product takes its place in my sweater cupboard along with its black and grey sisters.

This is my second. My daughter gifted one to me several years ago and it is my favorite top. It has been washed over a hundred times and still looks like new. I decided to treat myself to another! It is soft and warm and very versatile.

Have have the 150 and the 250 base layer, have to admit I don't feel much difference between them. But I do love them both. I live in Duluth MN doesn't get much colder than here. I wear them for every outdoor event, walking, running, playing. Definitely keep me warm.

Perfect top for layering to stay warm this winter, yet nice enough to wear alone if you choose to do so.

This is going to sound strange, but I am a man and the XL fits me perfectly. Just saying. Every once in a while women's clothing can be perfect for men. Just size up. I wear a medium in SW men's. I'm 6 foot 160 lbs. Women's Fit vs men's fit: not long in waist or arms. Not too lose or suction cup tight. It flares the right amount at the waist making it possible to wear stand-alone. I understand the base layer concept and have skin tight layers. But these are good middle ground for casual wool warmth without being form fitting. It doesn't scream women's sort on a man. Guys, it's not easy to shop in the women's section. But swallow your pride and check it out

Not only am I often cold, I'm often sweating. The moisture wicking and odor resistant properties are insane, as is the temperature control. Probably the thinnest base layer I've worn, it's also one of the warmest while never overheating. My mind is still blown every time I wear it, which is literally everyday. The other day I wore it climbing and realized an hour later I was not only (pretty) dry, but was not overly hot in the slightest. And the odor control. Seriously. Daily climbing and casual wear, can't tell you last time it was washed, still looks and smells new. I have two but will get more before I buy Christmas presents for my loved ones.

I own the 150 Base Layer Long Sleeve and love it for the thin but warm versatility as a base layer for summer hikes and winter skiing. I also love the 250 Base Layer Crew b/c it's about twice as thick and 100% merino wool. It is still breathable and keeps me warm during both active outputs in the winter, and in my office working. The sleeve and torso length is perfect. Only feedback would be to also offer this as a half zip. But I love this crew - the neck line is high enough to still feel warm (dislike scoops and v necks for winter!). Thank you, Smart Wool!!

I have been a loyal Smartwool customer for years. Lately, as I've had to replace some much loved pieces due to normal body changes as life goes on, I've struggled with finding that same, comfortable flattering fit. I was happy when I read "Fit updated to improve functionality while enhancing aesthetics for a range of body shapes" and ordered one to see if it is true. I am so happy to report that in my case, the fit is absolutely better. I also love the rose color. Thank you for paying attention to our comments and listening to the demographic that probably has the most disposable income to spend on your products. Happy, happy, happy.

I decided to wear this for a fishing charter that I went on a few weeks ago. I think the sizing chart is accurate! It fit perfectly and kept me warm. I think this is the perfect layer shirt for when things are going to get cold and you'll be outside for a good amount of time.
