I bought a pair of these six months ago and totally love them. However the sole on those boots is leather, giving them an added feel of all things designer and of greater quality. These boots pictured here, unfortunately have a rubber sole which takes away from the beauty and quality of design. BRING BACK THE LEATHER SOLE PLEASE. :) Sadly I bought a pair that are far too big so now I'm looking at buying a second pair that don't look HUGE on me and will have to sell the other pair with their GLORIOUS leather sole. Sad face.

I absolutely LOVE these boots! I'd say that out of all of the boots I have, these are my go boots. I have had them for 2 winters and they still hold their shape like no other! You will not be disappointed with these. They look great with everything you wear them with! I wear a 10 everything but had to get these in a size 9.5.

I have had these boots (in cognac) for five years. They have been, hands down, my favorite and most complimented pair of tall boots. I bought them in black a couple of years ago. If you take care of them, they will last forever!

These are beautiful. They were true to size and I had no issue getting them on or off, the largest part of my calf measures about 14.5 inches. I was hoping the cognac color would be much lighter in person than it is. It is a gorgeous rich color, but not what I was looking for.

I purchased both the cognac and the slate colors and like both equally. The gray was a surprise, it goes with almost everything and is a more casual look than black. I wear a size 11 but one foot is more like an 11 1/2 and these fit both feet without pain. They did stretch out and are much easier to yank on now. The loops on the sides make it so much simpler than my other tall Frye boots. And, yes, the new leather smell is quite divine! The slate pair also seems to have a water resistant coating of some sort which is a nice addition that I wasn't expecting. I live in the Northeast and these make great mild day winter boots with the lug sole so I don't always end up wearing pack boots everyday. Not good on ice, though. Love them!

After binge watching Longmire, my inner cowgirl spoke to me and I decided I needed a pair of boots--not sissy zip up the side boots--real boots--but not genuine cowboy boots. The Frye campus 14L looked like a good boot without going full cowgirl but when I saw the Melissa boot I couldn't decide. So I ordered both. I guess I'm not a real cowgirl--the campus boots just didn't feel right and they didn't look real cute (too wide around the ankle) but I loved the Melissa tall boot. I'm either an 8.5 or 9. My foot is on the wide side but too narrow for a wide. I read up on how boots are suppose to fit--a little snug in the front and a little slippage at the heel. When you put your foot in it is suppose to be a little difficult then go "plop" as it finally slides in. Those 8.5s were too tight. I didn't want to walk around and "break them in" in case I needed to send them back. I wore them for about ten minutes--sitting then standing then sitting then standing. When my feet kind of felt like they were going numb I pulled them off and tried on the 9s. Much much better. They're kind of snug on the calves but not super snug (I'm not skinny and I'm not fat). They for fine over leggings. Tried them on over fitted leg jeans (not skinny jeans) and they worked. Will they slouch after awhile? Maybe. But they aren't tight zip up boots. They are boots. And they are fabulous. I'm so glad that they fit because the leather is incredible. I got the cognac and they are so beautiful I would have been tempted to keep them even if they didn't fit and just set them in the shelf to look at. Like good leather boots they turn to your foot and they get more comfortable the more you wear them. I have two other Frye boots--one zip up and one lace--and they're 8.5. The 8.5 in these were definitely too tight. If you want real boots that look incredible then go with these. Great with boot cut jeans, great with tight jeans or leggings, and great with a dress or skirt.

These are such beautiful boots - I have thin calves and it's hard to find tall boots that don't make me look like a little kid playing dress-up. This had very little gap between my leg and the boot. The leather is beautiful and the boots are comfy. I found them really easy to pull on and off, and fit is true to size (unlike some other Frye boots). I am returning only because they are a hair too tall for me (which is my problem with most knee-length boots). Gonna go for the classic Harness 12R's instead. But I recommend these if you are taller than 5'3" and have thin calves!

These are attractive well made boots but if you have a high instep you’re going to need to size up, even then they were a wee bit snug on the instep at first but at least I could get the, on.

These look AMAZING, but I wasn't sure about comfort at first. I didn't love how they felt, but I didn't want to give up. I wore them in the house for a few days, and the leather really started to feel better. After trying one other boot, I just couldn't send these back. I've worn them a lot since then, and I'm SO glad I kept this pair. I am a photographer and do a lot of walking, and these have been perfect. Great purchase! I know they will last a long time.

Beautiful! I have to wait for Christmas to open. They are currently under our Christmas tree. I was able to check them out and try on. Perfect Frye boots! I love them. I’m not going to lie they were super hard to get on (high end step). I had to work hard for it. Once on the fit was perfect. I ordered in my normal size. I know with time they will get easier to slide into but in all honesty even if they don’t I still think they are worth the work!

I bought thesea boots in the cognac a week ago. I take a size 8 1/2 to 9 shoe. I ordered a size 9 and found them to fit snug. After wearing in the house a few days, they have streatched a bit. I love the way they look and feel and may purchase another pair.

Love the boots! They look fantastic in person. They are a little tight when you first put them on but then they loosen up a bit.

Well let me say this they are beautiful and smell amazing.. Now let me get to the nitty gritty, they are tight, but I was bound and determined to get those suckers on one way or another. With the help of my kids holding them so I could stuff my foot in. As I'm about to pass out from all that strenuous exercise my foot is in... I did it.. They are nice oh crap now I gotta take them back off.. By now the kids and husband are falling on the floor laughing...one kid holds the boot the other is pulling my leg out.. Needless to say if your calf is more than 15 inches get the wide... I am having mine stretched as we speak...

I'm a normal size 8. I have normal feet, maybe a bit on the thinner side . I'm 5'8" and I also have thinner calves. I've finally found a boot that looks good with my long legs and skinny calves. I was nervous about ordering because people said they were too tight to pull on at the ankles. I put on a thinner sock and pushed. They fit great. Being leather, they will only get better and I most likely will be able to barefoot in them in the summer once they are worn in. I am very happy with my choice. I love the leather smell.

I have fairly wide feet and was worried when some said they could not get their fit in... but I tried these on and they literally fit like a glove! They are the perfect tall brown boots - already have a patina to them which I love!

Love these boots! They have a western "feel" and a great color. Most of all, I like that the calf is tall and form-fitting. They will look sharp with jeans or a denim skirt.

I ordered the Melissa Button Two, Melissa Button Two Extended, and the Melissa Button Lug Tall. The Melissa Button Lug tall WON! I ordered my normal size 9 and they fit great. I have normal size calves and all three boots fit fine. Two little loops on each side of the boot help you pull them on for the first time. The lug heel looks super cute with jeans or a casual dress. The Melissa Button Two does have a very form fitting calf, but the extended almost seemed to roomy. My calves measure 14 1/2 inches at their biggest point (I heavy weight train). No calf issue with any of the boots.

These boots are beautiful and fit me comfortably right out of the box. I have received a number of compliments on them already, and wore them to work right away with no discomfort at all! The leather is soft and gorgeous, the shaft is not so wide it makes my calves look like stork legs (I am 5’9”, about 135 lbs), and the soles have good traction. Perfection.

I wasn't sure at first, especially regarding color. I knew I needed a tall pair of boots (mostly for my fantasy life where I live everyday and beautiful prairie chic dresses), but also for practical purposes in winter. I selected two different styles, and the Melissa Button Lug Tall won! I was surprised! I had anticipated preferring the other style (also by Frye). What I like about this style is the shaping of the calf. I have smaller calves (although recently more muscular), and usually have WAY too much room. These are still roomy, but they look cute anyway, and I belive it is because the calf has some shaping to it, coming in more at the top. I wore these for a day, and was very pleased with how comfortable they were, I anticipate there will be a little breaking in on my left foot (which tends to need a little extra room and a little extra breaking in, but I think it will be a quick and easy process. The leather is durable and dreamy feeling inside and out. I wore them barefoot around the house at first and was very happy with how lovely they felt on my bare feet. The soles have a nice cushion to them (but not too much). I greased these up with plenty of Obenauf's Heavy Duty Leather Preservative and am happy with the darker color they now have, and the beautiful smell. These will be worn all fall/winter/spring. I know the current trend is more toward an ankle boot, but these meet a need, and they are a forever boot. I love that they are pull on, so I'll never have to worry about fussing with a zipper, and I think it allows a heavier/nicer leather to be used. This is the kind of shoe that only improves with wear. I look forward to wearing these for many years to come!

I am so happy with these boots. I got the Cognac and it's beautiful rich leather with a slightly weathered look. I got my usual size ..51/2 and they are true to size for me. I'm 5.1 and about 100 pounds and these come about inch under my knee. The shaft width in perfect for me...it's narrow but wide enough to wear with jeans. I'm SO happy because so many boots are way to wide for a thin leg or smaller calf regardless of how tall or short you are. KUDOS to Frye for accommodating a thinner leg and not attempting to make "one size fits all" boots...that really only fit larger sized people. I prefer the lug over the regular sole...I like the traction and no cip clop. The lug is thin so its not bulky.
