I purchased these as a substitution for Speedcrosses - because the Speedcross 5 is a terrible fit. My narrow foot and high arch are well supported in the Sense Pro 4. My only complaint is that they aren't quite burley enough - not the best for trail running.

Out of all the trail shoes I have, I always gravitate towards these! I also have the Pro 3 and they are almost dead but, did the same with them. They are very comfortable, much better cushioning than the Pro 3, so lightweight I forget about them and the grip is superb for a wide mix of terrain, especially for Scottish mountains! They do a better job of shedding water and keep the feet warm when soaking wet from running through bogs!
I do however, have a few gripes; the sizing I think is a little bigger then the Pro 3 (UK9), they feel a bit baggier around the mid foot and the heel doesn't feel super snug, unlike the Pro 3 which was better I think.
The lacing system! I totally get what Salomon where trying to do for easier lacing but for me, it doesn't work! Its more fiddly, and have to wrap the laces up (which are too long) and secure them in place to stop them from riding out of the pouch! Please go back to the old trusty, tried and tested reverse pouch, it was so much better!
Overall though, a fantastic pair of shoes that are worthy of 5* if the lacing systems was fixed :0)

Salomon Sense Pro 4 is great shoes. Lightweight with lots of grip. It's already 700+ km of fun with them. I have only one problem - laces eyelet. Everything else is very solid.

Great shoes, my first set has 500 hundred miles on them when I retired them. Technical trail running is primarily what I do, a bit of road to get to the trails. I own 3 pairs that I cycle between. Love them!

I have burned though many pairs and versions of the SLab SG's which was my primary shoe until the 7s and 8s got a little too minimal for super long distances. I went for the Sense Pros searching for a shoe where minimalism meets protection. No matter how tight I crank these shoes, the heal is a tad low, and feels almost like it's going to come off. Just make it a little more like the SG 6's, and it'll be a perfect shoe.

Logged 100+miles in the Rockies. Great for day summits (alpine, scramble, and scree). Good balance of weight, breathability, support, and cushioning. My feet are slightly wide/flat. No pebbles or hot spots. Ran half sized down.
-1 Star for limited color options (personal preference). Black shoe should have been paired with red laces for some accent/contrast.
Previous Shoes:
Speedcross GTX (overbuilt - good for multiday backpacking)
S/Lab Sense 8 SG (underbuilt - good for trail racing)
SENSE 4 /PRO is the goldilocks for trail running.

A really good all round trail shoe for pavement, fire-trail and light technical tracks but I don't like the new style lace garage (Stuffing from the top)
1. It is difficult to get the laces in the garage.
2. The laces don't stay in the garage.
3. It is very difficult to see how tight the lacing is.
Certainly from my point of view, the new style garage is a disaster.
Please can you revert to the previous lace garage (stuffing from below) as seen on the following models:
S/LAB Sense Ultra
S/LAB Sense 6

I bought this in a 9 and it was to big. I was surprised because the size guild said I would fit a 9, and that's what I normally am. So I returned for an 8.5 and am so glad that I did. It's amazingly light and comfortable. I recommend going a half size down.

I have a little over 100 miles on these, just took them out to Smith Rock State Park in Oregon yesterday and put 22 on them. I really wanted to see how they held up in comparison to other shoes with more stack height. They did excellent. The outsole while not as high is a dense material that really absorbs the bumps and lumps of the trail. I hammered them down some steep rocky roads and trails, the traction was great through the mud, the protection was great and the feel excellent. I give these four stars only because there are a bit narrow in the forefoot for me. My feet get a bit squished and over a long day (13+mi) my feet get some hot spots in these. However, for shorter days or maybe if I had a narrower foot they would be stellar.

I ordered as soon as I had the chance and recieved them 3 weeks ago. I do have a unique type of foot, wide D/E ish, and high arch. I often have to sacrifice fitting for comfort on different sides of my foot. Last shoe I've worn full time was the brooks cascadia 13. On my hunt for a similar or better fitting I've tried the latest in brooks, altra, topo, and saucony. Each one failed at something whether it was pain on the upper arch, calf strain, not enough cushion on the balls of the foot, or slipped on wet rocks, tile, or roads. Most I bought in store as well so when looking for the right shoe I came across this one and saw the reviews from the s-lab and sense ride that no store had on their shelf. I decided to take a chance and glad I did because this has become my all purpose shoe. Confident to get back on 5k/10k racing no matter the weather. So far I've taken them through a river bed and about 40miles hills and all. No hotspots or waterlogged feeling. Awesome shoe!
Only thing to make them a slight better is just a little more cushion for a more springy feeling. That's just because of my foot type.

I bought these as a replacement for my very old NB trail shoes (7.5oz) for shorter, technical races (< 30k). They grip well and my feet feel secure, but the lacing system is not well designed. The lace is hard to tighten, as it keeps slipping, and once I have it tight enough, there's so much left over lace that it doesn't fit in the pocket. The looped lace popped out of the pocket on one of my runs, which could have been disastrous if it caught a root while I was racing. I will try re-lacing them with normal laces. As indicated in the tech details, this shoe is pretty minimal and flexible and my feet were aching a bit after 13.1mi. A partial rock plate or a thin layer of denser foam would go a long way without adding too much weight. I do love how light they are, though.
*runs very large, I usually wear 7 in road shoes, 7.5 in trail shoes, bought these in 6.5 and they are still almost too big*

After a lot of research, trying out other brands i returned to Salomon as i have other shoes and love the build quality, robustness, weight and especially the the Sense fit. I bought the size UK 9.5.
Shoes look great and I love the lacing system giving a close but very comfortable fit especially around the heel and mid-foot. Great lugs depth for mixed terrain and i planned using these for shorter trail races and training up to about 20 miles (wouldn't fancy an ultra in these as don't quite feel like they would stand up to the abuse of a 50 miler over mixed terrain and feel like the foot may take the brunt of the impact at these distances).
Now the bit i don't seem to get. For a forefoot striker i thought these would be perfect for feel and but they don't seem to be as responsive as the Sense Ride 4. Yes, there is a good feel for the ground surface which is why a lot of folks go for the sense range, but for me they feel very flat footed (I acknowledge the low drop), and takes away the comfort of each stride from strike point through transition to push off.
Again, it could just be me, but I do regret going for these over the exceptional regular Sense Ride.

They have a decently precise fit and are pretty durable but they aren't the Sense Pro 3s. The lace garage is horribly inefficient in comparison with the Pro 3's due to its lace-through-tongue design and the traction isn't as hard, allowing it to wear quicker. The Pro 4s work but aren't anything special. Hopefully Salomon brings back the previous generation.

Note: I wear these for hiking, not trail running.
Had the Sense Pro 3's for a couple of years and loved them, never had a single issue or blister - so when it came time for replacement, it was an easy choice to get the 4's in the same size. I got them online, without trying them on in a store, because I figured it would be fine... well, my mistake. They fit my feet a bit larger/looser out of the box, and I imagine they will stretch out even more with use. I wore them on a several 6-9 hour day hikes, decided I had to switch to thicker socks, then took them on a recent backpacking trip. Still ended up with several hotspots and a couple of blisters from my feet sliding around a little too much. The back of the heel of the shoe doesn't come up as high as on the 3's, and I feel like they just don't keep my feet in secure enough, even with thick socks. Not sure if it's a sizing issue or just incompatibility with my feet. It's too bad because I actually really enjoy the minimal cushion and low drop of this shoe, and the Sense Pro 3's had fit like a dream. I may revisit these in the future in a half a size smaller or if an updated version is released. For now, they are staying in the closet except perhaps on very short excursions.

I have two pairs of speedcross, slim fit trail shoes that I love and I bought the sense pro 4 because they also were slim fit and were suitable for hard surfaces as well as soft and muddy. Very disappointed, they do not feel nearly as supportive as speedcross and the laces frequently pop out of the pocket. I am wearing my old shoes for running and my new shoes have become an expensive mistake.
