These will be my eighth pair of XA Pros and the small evolutions of the shoe for this iteration may need some time to be accepted/appreciated. XA Pros were always my go to shoe due the excellent stability of the foot bed. The newest model had shed some stability as the weight was shed as well. The compromise isn't a deal breaker but I have the blisters to prove the fit isn't the same. I usually run these shoes till either the tread is flat or the insole disintegrates. So now it will be a race to see if the new treads will out last a separately purchased insole.
And as a disclaimer for the eager to respond. My shoes live two lives. First as a running/workout shoe and then retired as an everyday around town shoe. This is a highlight of Salomons. I workout nearly every morning, trails runs and mud are a norm, burpees on asphalt, and through it all the shoes are durable and well built to still be presentable in public. As I wear my shoes till the insole disintegrates, this does not mean I am keeping up high mileage in them until my toes rub through. No, I usually derive the fact that the insole's rubber has worn away on a date to a local burger joint.

I purchased these shoes April 2020. They are comfortable and I do like them but they wore out very quick. The soles lasted approximately 4 months and the nylon material on the top of the shoes split ware your foot bends by the toes. I am very active and can be hard on shoes while training but I feel like these should have lasted longer.
I liked them a lot and thought about buying another pair but its a lot of money for a couple months of use.

The shoes are great for keeping a good grip on the trail. But I experienced plantar fasciitis for the first time wearing this shoe.

Just received my pair, seems like a great shoes and extremely comfortable.
However I will have to send it back as I am usually a size 9 and this definitely fits way too large for me, more like a 10 at least.

This is my 2nd pair of the XA Pro 3D. I wore my first pair every day for 7 months and wore out the soles with walking 30 miles per week. Despite being disappointed in the poor durability of the soles, they felt great so I immediately purchased a new pair. The new pair cost 17% more and are no longer waterproof. The fit is the same, but the fabric is breathable and looks cheap. I still like the shoe and will probably pay the extra $30 to get the waterproof version next time.

I bought this pair (XA Pro 3D Wide) and the Ultra 3 Wide GTX two weeks ago to compare. The XA Pro 3D Wide was wide enough at the widest part of the foot (ball) but because of the shape of the shoe, the toe box was too narrow. At first I thought I might just need to go up a half size, but then I tried on the Ultra 3's. They felt great, so I took them off and compared them with the Pro 3D's. Although they were the same width at the ball, the toes were visibly wider on the Ultra 3's.
I have 8.5 EEE wide feet and generally have to purchase 9 or 9.5 shoes to fit. Salomon's shoe sizing guide confirmed the 8.5 size, but I ordered 9.5 anyway. So if you have very wide feet or want/need plenty of room for your toes, go with the Ultra 3 Wide GTX, they fit wonderfully (and they aren't too long either).

I liked the looks and the design. Not as comfortable as the speed cross 3 and 4. Speed cross 5 is not comfortable as well.
I have several pairs of speed cross 3 and 4 which I really like the comfort. I

I have worn Salomon in the last and I should have known better. They are very narrow in the toe, and feel like your foot is smushed. Great trail shoe... for those missing a toe or two.

I bought two sizes of the shoe 2 weeks ago. Yes I have big feet but the shoe runs very small (14 and 14W too small and no, my feet are not size 15). I wear orthotics and that could be a factor. The feel of the shoe was poor. The lugs are prominent enough and far enough apart that I could feel the individual lugs. That should not happen. It is a nice lookinng shoe in black with a well constructed upper.

I bought this shoe in May. When I tried them on I really wanted to like them. There was a discomfort in the left shoe caused by manufacturing issue where the side of the shoe is narrower near the ball of the foot, creating pressure and rubbing. I hoped it would loosen up and wore the shoes. It hasn't loosened up. I'm disappointed in the shoe and can no longer return it. I'll keep trying to work the shoe and hope it eventually stops rubbing. My mistake not to return them immediately. I'd add a photo but it's hard to see since it's mostly on inside.

I have loved the XA line previously. I bought these XA PRO 3D shoes around two months ago and will be having to replace one of the shoes laces any time now. Extremely disappointed to have to deal with this, also looks as if the eyelets are already fraying which I'm pretty sure will result in completely useless shoes. Maybe they won't be a complete waste of money but not looking good.

I buy men's athletic shoes because I need more toe room to flex for liftoff. This is my first pair from this brand.
While the heel fits great, the toe box is way too narrow, there's a rigid "plastic" feel to the upper reinforcements that's too inflexible for the surrounding fabric, in 2 weeks time the soles already show lack the lack of longevity, and the cushion and support of the insole are far less than I expect from a shoe in this price bracket.
I do love the lacing system. So far it's the best I've found to customize for and prevent stops to keep it snug.
I'm impressed with the education about proper fit on this site and really wanted to love these. I just don't and will be donating them once the new pair of my old stand by's from another manufacturer arrives.

I have purchased nearly 10 pairs of XA Pro 3D shoes over the years and have recently bought 5 more pairs to support an AT through hike beginning in late March '23. They fit my feet well and I have accumulated over 2000 miles on them. However, there is a major design and/or manufacturing flaw in them. Every single pair encountered the following pre-mature failure in both shoes well before the soles wore out. The cloth, lace loop closest to the pinky toe gets sawed through over time by the auto lace itself! (See photo of routine failure). All of the other lace loops have a protective plastic insert in them to prevent this and never have I encountered a lace loop failure in any loops containing the insert. Without this loop in the lacing system, your foot slides more in the toe box causing increased likelihood of blisters. an aggravation I am not looking forward to on my upcoming through hike. If any of the pairs of new shoes develop this failure on my hike, can I return them for warranty and get a new pair sent to me? I like the shoes but hate having to deal with this failure mode. I can't fix the loop and I can't risk changing shoes at this point before my hike. Why can't they be made with a plastic insert in this lace loop? I certainly hope this wasn't planned to be manufactured obsolescence. Frustrated customer!

I have purchased no less than a dozen pairs of the XA Pro 3d's. The last 5 or so pairs I have purchased are in the trash because the bottom eyelet tears through. There used to be a plastic clip in there that kept that from happening. I have 4 pairs in my closet that I have worn the tread off of but I hate to toss and all 4 have that plastic clip. I love the shoe but they dont last more than a couple of months now without tearing through the bottom eyelet.

This has been my go-to shoe for years. I've owned many pairs all different versions. They have been very consistent; until now. Out of the box I could immediately tell the construction was lighter and less durable- wimpy even. They felt more like Ike a standard pair of runners- not a ruggedized trail shoe. The shoes held up poorly- laces broke; this has never happened. Fabric was less abrasion resistant, ect. The shoes wore out much sooner than previous pairs. I am actually currently wearing an older version that have outlasted the newer pair- I've been wearing them for three months. I have never written a review for anything but Salomon missed the mark on these shoes. To add insult to injury- the XA Pro 3D is out of stock... you can't get any version anywhere.

I have been happy in the past with the XA Pro 3D and have worn my current pair down to a flat sole. Now, have bought and returned the new model two times. In both cases the stitching inside at the little toe is rough and protruding, thus rubs into my toe. It just seems like lack of manufacturing detail. Also, I find the sole breaks in a way that it squishes my little toe. Perhaps it would break-in over time but it is too painful to risk on a long backpacking trip. I will get by with my old pair for now.

I bought these and wore them a few times a week to walk my dog after reading many positive reviews online. The sole has worn through in just a few months. I expected a lot more from the brand and for the price.

The fit seems a little on the long side, maybe a half size bigger . I bought size 11.5 . The color was Rooibos Tea/Black/Cumin, and the color is shown much more of a red than it is . It's almost fluorescent and kind of an odd or off red . Also first wearing them I already got red sore marks on my little toes . Not very happy with the color and fit . Maybe they will break in after a bit . I hope so for the price they are . Can't return them as I have worn them . They are light though .

Inexplicably, Salomon changed the fit of this shoe, in my case for the worse. I would have thought that adding a Wide, as Salomon did, would take care of those for whom the old one was too narrow. But no - there's heel slippage, the sizing has changed, and the forefoot is too wide for me. As another reviewer wrote, I wish I had stocked up on the old model!

I have owned 3 pairs of XA Pro 3D and they were my favorite hiking/backpacking shoe of all time. The version 8 changed many of the features I loved about these shoes. The support for the end lace attachment has been removed and it creates a pinch point in the toes. In addition the heal geometry changed and there is a lot more heal slip now. There are other changed as well that Im not happy with but those are the main ones. I wish they still sold the old versions as I would buy a dozen pairs of that shoe immediately to last the rest of my backpacking days.

I've owned 4 pairs of these shoes over the years. I love them. When I put my feet into them it was like "ahhhhh so good to be home!" They were so comfortable and built ready for anything! But this latest version didn't feel the same way. It was missing the support and comfort. They also squeaked loudly on each step. They were perfect they way they were Salomon.
