Very comfortable shoe! My new favorite!!

I have had these sandals for a couple of weeks and I am very happy with them. They are well made and are very comfortable!

This is a substantial flip flop that promised to hold up under extended use. I'm always looking for a solid "Charlie let's go" when I am visiting friends in Ghana, and these fit the bill.

Good looking flip. Comfortable. Would have given 5 out of 5, instead of 4 out of 5, if the material on the toe strap wasn't so tight fitting. Loosened up a bit but definitely snug.

Reliable, sturdy and comfortable. Everything you'd expect from Merrell.

I wear an 11.5 in most footwear items, but a 12 in most flip-flops. Had to return due to small size. If the toe post was forward another 1/2 inch, they would have fit perfectly. However, the toe post kept my feet too far back, causing heel to be off the shoe when walking.

The soles are phenomenal! Great grip, no blisters. Just the right balance of cushion with feel for the ground. But they sprung the straps relatively quickly and I had to toss them after a trip to Alaska. If they fixed the straps I'd buy again in a heartbeat.

Took a few days to break the straps in. They seemed pretty tight around my foot and were rubbing the sides pretty bad but after pushing thru I'm a month in and theyre the only thing I've been wearing! Merrell crushed it again

These are really great sandals, well built and give so much more support than any flip flop I've ever owned. Others complained about the fabric between the toes, I was nervous about it but after wearing the first day I felt like it broke in and was good. If anything I appreciate that it's a strong sturdy material that will last. Giving four stars only because the sizing is off and I had to exchange mine. If you're looking to buy a pair DO NOT order your normal size. I have several pair of merrells and normally wear 11.5. I ordered these in a 12 and they were too small. Exchanged for a 13 and they just big enough.

The sizes seem to run a little small and the strap takes some getting used to. Sole is soft and comfortable and durable.

Footbed is super comfortable and fit is to size. Arches are indeed really high, like other reviews say, but I have high arches anyway and these break in nicely. Left only 4 stars here because while the straps are stretchy, they're a little narrow and cut into the tops of my feet for the first few weeks until callouses developed. Make the straps a little wider with edges that don't cut and these are five star shoes.

Absolutely best sandal I've ever had. Downsides: 1. Runs about 1.5 sizes small. 2.Wore these daily over the summer and they broke within 6 months. I want to buy more but super expensive to have to replace every 6 months.

I have flat feet. The arch on these was too high for me but started to compress after wearing them around the house for 2 days. I checked with Merrell customer support and they told me the EVA footbed would probably not compact much more so I may want to return them. They did NOT try to convince me to keep them or sell me on something else. Fortunately for me, they eventually did compact enough to provide a comfortable fit. Also fortunately for me, they run a little short. I usually have to get a size 10 flip flop and they are are a bit long for me and 9's are just a bit too short. The size 10 Breakwater is between other brand's 9 and 10 so the length is just right for me. The length plus the Vibram sole is why I kept them. A lot of flip flops I've tried are slippery when wet and I've never had that problem with boots and shoes with Vibram soles. I haven't had these flips in water yet but the Vibram soles have a tread pattern on them that looks like they won't slip. I would probably prefer a little more cushioning but that was not enough to deter me from keeping them. They might be more stable than real cushy flops.

Comfortable, but not that durable. After about a month of use the fabric pulled out from between the toes and now fits loose. Before that they were the most comfortable sandal I have worn.

These are great flip flops. I was looking for a flip flop of Vibram soles. These were great. Used them on the beach at Cape Hatteras.

My all-purpose everyday house shoes. Also take out the trash and short trips. I rate them a 4.5. If the straps were less abrasive these would be a 6!

They run a little small and narrow and the toe is set a little too far back for my liking. I have a normal width/arch. Otherwise they are pretty comfortable.

Sandal fits well and has really good traction, both from your foot to the sandal and from the sandal to the ground, whether on the beach, poolside or on a walk.

Well built and appear solid. However, I ordered Granite but what arrived was Black. The website pic of Granite is not the actual color.

While the bottom is very comfortable the strap is not as comfortable. It does wear into the top of my foot. I'll give them some time and see if they break in after a couple of weeks, so far after a week they have not.

The flip sole is true to size, however the strap is set too far back towards the heel. This has the effect of having a lot of toe room, and the heel is almost off the back. Otherwise, this flip seems great; superior traction, good support compared to other flips.

I've enjoyed these after my first two weeks. I found they run a little small. I wear a 9.5 in nikes, ordered a 10 for these and they are just barely acceptable. Great quality soles, super squishy. They mesh that goes over your foot is a little rough, buy may soften up with wear. They seem pretty sturdy.

the only issue I have is the strap folds most of the the time, not the issue with the leather strap, other than that very good quality.

These Merrell's have a lot of great qualities. The footbed is extremely comfortable and that's what I like the most. Love the granite color that I got and the others available looked nice too. The vibram sole is a major plus and should be on every merrell shoe. It was a big selling point for me. The only downside is that the straps loosened up after a couple days wear. I knew they would like all flip flops but they were perfect for me right out of the box. I don't think it's a defect or a problem, just my preference that they be tighter. I think had I been in the design room I'd have made them a 1/16 wider all the way around too. Still very pleased.

I received my Breakwater flips and immediately loved the color right out of the box. They were a little stiff at first, but two days of regular wear and they broke right in nicely.
