Great looking shoe and strong support but the rounded toe leads to a half size smaller fit than expected

The good: comfortable show. I can wear it anywhere. Just enough give in the sole but not too much. The bad: the lace loop broke on the first day. I relaxed them through the holes so you can't really see it. If you do get them and like to tighten your shoes , don't do it with these

Great looking shoes, but they are definitely lifestyle shoes onky intended for casual wear. They do not have the performance or durability for technical wear.

Bought these for my son in law. He likes the look, but is having a little bit of an issue in "breaking them in". That said, he does like the shoe.

These shoes look great, however they do a poor job of keeping your heel in the shoe. Even when tightened to an extreme level, I can easily lift my foot out of the shoe. I am interested to see if the Mid version of this shoe eliminates that problem. If only the Mid had more color options..

Nice looking, comfortable shoes (gold color) - the laces are designed for a boot. This is more of an annoyance review - why would a company like Merrell make such a nice shoe and then give you laces that are almost 2 feet longer than they should/need be?!!! What a design flaw... I hate having to triple knot my shoe because a company was too cheap to make multiple lengths of laces, they are clearly using the same lace for the boot as the shoe... Merrell's only solution when I contacted them was for me to purchase (my dime) other laces, but they have no matching color/style - which is half of the charm of the shoe. two stars for lame customer satisfaction

These run almost a full size smaller than expected. Toe box is narrow.

Such a low clearance in shoe that I was not able to supplement insert. Gave to Goodwill.

The heel feels very elevated, and the arch feels far back in the shoe. Puts a lot of pressure just in front of the heel at the beginning of the arch. This is more pronounced in the left shoe. Removing the insoles helps a bit, but they're still unwearable for me. It's unfortunate, because they really do look great.

I got the Catalyst Suede Paloma. They look great. The fit was correct at 10.5 but the shoe feels like walking on concrete. The insole heal is raised and very noticeable. Why would the interior heal be elevated like that? There is just no cushion feel at all. I also bought the Merrell MQM Flex 2 which feel much more comfortable and actually have cushion and spring when walking. Very bummed with these Catalysts, returning them. I notice Merrell shoes to be very low on the achilles which makes my heel lift when walking. That part of the shoe should be higher for wrap, fit and hold. Had a 10-15 year old pair of Merrells that were past their life. Really wish I could have found that identical shoe. They were shaped for comfort and hold better back then.

This is a great shoe for the first two weeks. Then the toe cover starts peeling off.

Bought these shoes for the purpose approach shoes for getting to rock climbing/bouldering. After three uses the rand and toe cap rubber separated. Looks like the glue may not be enough to hold it on to shoe. The sole of the shoe should wrap up over the rand. I love the style and they look great. Fit is on point. The upper seems tough as well. Grip/tread was sticky. I just expected more durability out of the shoe. I will try another Merrell model see how that goes.
