I've been a 37 in Birkenstsock/Papillio for years but my toes almost come to the top edge which would be uncomfortable for walking. I'm going to have to try a 38 and get back to you.

Normally I highly recommend Papillio (Birkenstock) shoes. Most of them are the most comfortable shoes I own, while still looking good. This particular style, however, has uncomfortable straps, which rub the ankles. I recommend almost any other Papillio! I wear the heeled slides all summer, and have them in three colors.

I have these in the tan color and like them, especially the arch support. Although they're called "narrow," the footbed is not narrow at all. But adjustable strap over the toe enables you to make it narrower, so it works okay. But--in the black color, the leather is much stiffer, especially the strap over the toe, and its edges dig into my foot, so I have to return them.

I ordered the cognac oiled leather pair and immediately noticed the “oiled” style looks much more “dirty” and distressed than the online images portrayed. Also, I have normal sized ankles but struggled to buckle the ankle strap even at the last hole - way too tight for comfort. For comparison, I own a pair of these sandals in black and LOVE them! Either I received an “off” pair, or there is a major difference in stiffness and length of straps between the different color leathers.

My feet are very narrow and they didn't fit the foot the way I expected them to. Also, I was expecting the style to be more upscale. I will be attending an outdoor wedding and this will not work.

I love the style, but the ankle strap was way too small to buckle - even though my ankle is fairly regularly sized. The angle that the strap is cut also made fastening the strap even harder to do. I had to return these.

Love Birkenstock and really wanted to love these sandals to wear to work in the summer and with dresses for more of a polished look, but, sadly, had to return them. Bought my usual Birkenstock sandal size, but toes slide too close to front edge and heel slips forward in the sandal even though arch sits in the right place on the heel. I suspect sizing up wouldn't have helped. Adjusting straps tighter doesn't do trick. And, as others have mentioned, the leather under the toe buckle rubs, but I would expect goes away with them breaking in.

When I first put these on I was thrilled… they look great and the sole hugs your whole foot perfectly… the arch support is great. Then I noticed the toe strap felt a bit uncomfortable … it pressed against the top of my foot. I hoped it would get better but it only bothered me more and more. I see that another buyer had this problem too. Have to decide whether I can keep them.

I wanted to love these shoes so much but unfortunately this was not the case. Fit was a bit too big and the buckle on the bottom cut into my skin. I am normally a size 7 in birks, so I bought a size 7 here but these were too big.

This sandal was ok but not perfect. I was looking for something I could wear to do a ton of walking this summer in Europe. I just don't think the straps and heel height are going to be comfortable without an extended break-in period for the straps. If you are fine with that breaking-in period, then they could work for you. The listed heel height is incorrect right now on the listing- they are about a 2.25" heel height. I would have preferred to not have the brand Papillio so prominently displayed on both of the shiny buckles as well as a very obvious brand on the back of the ankle strap. They would look nicer without it.

Not a true 2 AA, has gap at heels and toes slide and pass front of sandals.

Comfort wise it’s what you expect from a Birkenstock, well the footbed at least. These should have worked, there was a little more room than my typical birk fit, but not enough to size down. The problem was the placement of the straps. The wrap around ankle, sits too low, the widest part of the ankle, I struggled to get the buckle in the last hole. Took a few steps in them and could tell the front strap wasn’t at the right spot, and will probably rub against my first two toes. Sigh. Returning

I had to return these sandals as they were too short. I ordered a 10-10 1/2 so they should have fit as I usually wear a size 10. The width was fine but the heel height was more like a 2 inch so a little higher than I was expecting.

I really love Birkenstock’s so I bought this because it was dressier. did not fit my foot well. I thought about a size down but it was out of stock.

Love the shoe but the ankle strap is way too short. Didn't want to punch a new hole in an expensive pair of shoes.

The soles were so comfortable. The strap across the toe had rough edges that would surely cut up my feet. The gold buckle made an expensive shoe look cheap and tacky. For the price, I expected Birkenstock quality. They were not, so they were returned.

Size is fine. Not as comfy as I thought they would be and not as cute either! So bummed!

Too wide for narrow feet. Even with the buckles tightened on the first hole, they are wide. Love the style, materials and platform though, the buckles are a pretty look. Super disappointed I have to return them.

I really wanted these shoes to work for me, but they did not. The shoes have an odd toe bump that hits the bottom of your toes awkwardly if they do not fit just right. I ordered the 39 and the 40. I am usually a 9.5. The 39 was too short and the 40 was a bit too wide. I had to send them both back.

These are great sandals but the straps were not made of soft leather. They are hard leather and made the shoe extremely uncomfortable for me. Back they go!

The narrow ones are definitely NOT narrow. I can get an index finger and my pinkie inside next to my toes. I am fairly disappointed and have not yet worn them. Maybe they will be perfect on a hundred degree day?

Leather very stiff would take along time to break in. Strap across toes very uncomfortable and sharp
