Absolutely obsessed with this brand and these sneakers! I bought them yesterday, didn't even wear them to break them in and then went on a 3 mile run today - had no pain whatsoever! Felt like I could go on forever in these shoes! My feet are slightly wide but they fit great, I love the toe space and I went red which was out of character for me but I'm so happy!

l love these shoes. The only problem I've had is the fabric around the ankle frayed within the first few months of use. Making them a scuff around shoe instead of an all occasion shoe as I had intended.

I wore the living daylight out of this shoe. Only complaint is that it is very large in the toe area and I twisted my ankle twice. To the point that I ended up in physical therapy. If your foot is narrow or normal please find something else. I hiked Appalachian Trail with it and I would purchase it again if it were narrower.

I wear them all day almost every day. Ever since they fixed my sore feet. I can't find them anywhere!

First pair of Altras here. LOVE the toebox and how much space there is. As someone who has fairly wide feet these are absolutely amazing in that sense! Hiked 3 smaller hikes (3-4 miles or so each) up the mountain and they are nice. Good grip on the rocky terrain. My one complaint is they are already showing much wear in the heel area so I'm afraid they may cause me blisters on no time. Wish the heel fabric could be designed differently but we shall see how long it lasts! Other than that I am enjoying these!

The shoe is very comfortable with ample toe space. Great traction on wet roads. This is my first pair of Altra shoes ; they are so much lighter than other shoes, almost worried about the support. Time will tell.

I had 2 pairs of the 4.0 version that I loved and this is my 1st 4.5 pair. I love the wide toe box and the grippy sole. The 4.5 heel cup is a bit higher and a bit more of an angle than the 4.0, which is a little less comfortable for me. Also on the previous 2 pairs, the fabric around the opening became frayed much sooner than other shoes I've had. The 4.5 has the same fabric. I would suggest using something more substantial that woul last longer.

I have bunions and big feet. (Haaay, sexy, I know!) I've been dabbling in different brands over the years, but I always ended up with blisters on my feet (on the big toe and the foot pad under the big toe, specifically) -- sometimes BLOOD blisters, cute -- or blackened toenails. Even if a shoe was "comfortable," they all just seemed to not agree with my feet. My husband got me these Altras after I had complained for years about how much my hiking shoes hurt. Yes, they took some breaking in -- these rubbed a spot raw on my achilles the first couple of times I wore them. But after a few more wearings (with a bandaid protecting that hotspot), they got nicely broken in. Now, every time I put these shoes on, I say aloud "I LOVE THESE SHOES." It is a REVELATION to have this wide toe box. I never realized how much I needed it! Needless to say, I'm not getting any more blisters and the 10.5 fit me well in length. (I'm a slightly large 10 in other shoes.) These have a slightly different feel than other shoes, besides the 'open' toe box. The zero drop took some adjustment; like, my legs were sore in a slightly different/new way after a long walk on the street. The cushioning is thinner, giving you much more sensation of the ground. But once I adjusted, there really weren't problems. I find that the thinner cushioning is actually very comfortable for hiking, and the soles have fantastic grip. Honestly, I just love these shoes. YES, they took some work. They weren't perfect out of the box. But if you too have struggled with blisters and bunions, they just might change your life too.

I have arthritis on the top of my foot so when I bought my first pair of Lone Peaks 3.5 I was excited to see how they would help me. It was the first time I could hike and not have pain in my foot for 10years. The zero drop, wide toe box, narrower heal, and cushioning were exactly what I needed. So when I needed to buy another pair I did. I bought the Lone Peak 4.5. I was a little disappointed because I was expecting the same feel. The mid foot is narrower. There isn't the same cushioning as the 3.5's. The back of the shoe has movement that I didn't get with the 3.5's. It feels like the sides of the shoe isn't as sturdy as the 3.5's. I would still buy them because my arthritis is still better in these shoes than with other brands. I like the updated colors too. I bought the red and they are vibrant and pretty.

I have bunions and bunionettes. My feet are wide! I wore brooks ghosts for years but their wide with would no longer fit my wide toes. I researched and tried Altras and my toes are so happy! (Some styles vary in width and comfort for my feet though). I have a bump on my bunion when touched is excruciating With the lone peak, there is a spot where the seam comes up the inside and it hits just that spot so I cannot wear them. But the toe spread and cush are perfect!

these are great for having a wide toe box, and the tread is nice for trail hikes. I had to size up from my very typical 8 1/2 to get the 9. They really do look terribly wide in photos - which is not as important because they're comfortable but nevertheless I would not buy the poppy color again because I think it makes them look huge.

The minute I put this show on I had painful rubbing in the back of both heels. I purchased blister pads and made sure to wear taller socks and eventually got them broken in. Now I love them. Super comfortable, but a bit frustrating for them to not be comfortable right away. I definitely recommend trying these out for a couple of days before a hike or run to make sure they don't rub!

These are my 6th pair of Altra brand shoes so I bought my typical Altra size. These are a full size too small. I was very disappointed when they arrived in the mail. Luckily another local store carried the same shoe so I was able to try on larger sizes. I typically wear a 9.5 in Altras, the 10.5 Lone Peak fit and I bought them. When the length is good at a 10.5 then the width of the toe box is so wide and floppy. I am returning these. I DO NOT like the Lone Peak 4.5 at all.

I have already reviewed this order but need to make an adjustment. I loved the shoe for its comfort but wasn't too happy when after only three weeks, a hole developed in the fabric of the toe on one shoe. A wonderul Zappos customer service guy agreed with me that this was not up to standards expected and replaced the shoes (free return and no cost for new pair). I still rave about the comfort and crossing fingers this pair holds up a lot longer. 5 stars for the customer service.

These would be perfect but they really dig into the back of your heel. The previous version was perfect at the heel. The rest of the shoe is sublime and comfortable. I can't wait until they fix this issue.

I tried the Timp 2 which was awful, nothing at all like my incredibly comfortable Timp 1.5's. The Lone Peak is the closest shoe I've tried in comparison to the Timp 1.5. Not quite the same but it is very well padded and has the nice wide toe box my feet need. Altra, please don't ruin this shoe! There are a lot of us who really need a truly wide toe box and lots of cushioning!

This is the third pair of Altra's that I've owned and I love them. Last week I upgraded to these Lone Peaks for speed walking/hiking gravelly roads during my first pregnancy. I'm usually out 40 minutes a day, 5 days a week and these have been great shoes. Comfortable with plenty of room for my toes. The only thing I would change is the laces are much to short for me to do a double knot that won't come untied. I ended up buying longer laces for my last Altra's and forgot about it until I started wearing these new ones. Guess I'll be shopping for new laces for these ones as well.

7.5 fits perfect. Yay—space for toes! So happy-the wide toe box was no joke (sometimes I need Just a little more room up top to fit my narrow heel, med/high arch and slightly wider toe box) They are super cool looking, good for urban hiking too! :P The soles are grippy, material is breathable and soft, and provide good support. Cushier than expected. They squeak a bit if on a regular hard indoor surface, so no sneaking around indoors - hahah.

This is my third pair of Altra Lone Peaks. I’ve owned the 2.5, 3.5 and now the 4.5 model. I loved the 2.5’s, liked the 3.5’s less and like the 4.5’s better than the 3.5’s. I still like the materials they used for the 2.5’s the best. The materials and construction quality of the 4.5’s are better than they were in the 3.5’s. I’ve had to order up a half-size from my normal size, with both the 3.5 and 4.5’s. I’ve also tried on other models of Altra brand shoes and these work the best for me. I need a roomy toe box, even though I’ve got a narrower foot and heel. I’m happy to say I’ve got no heel slippage with the Lone Peaks. I also wear these with my own orthotic, so I can’t comment on arch support using the Altra insert the shoe comes with.

I have Lone Peak high tops 3.0 that I absolutely love. I wanted some low tops for walking and short easy hikes so I got the 4.5 after much internet searching for 3s or even 4s. I have large bunyons, painful feet so the wide box toes are wonderful but the shoe itself is not nearly as comfy as the 3.0s especially the front area padding. Also the shoe heels are quite wide and slip some even with tight lacing. Thick socks make the toe too tight so can't use to help with the heel. I don't walk long enough in them (2-3 miles) for that to cause problems so far. Longer or rougher hikes, I use my good old 3.0s! Alras are still the best shoe I have found for my poor feet: I love the wide toe and the flat print.

I've been wearing lone peaks for years, starting with 2.5's! I should preface by saying that I do not run...I wear these strictly for hiking! I have also worn versions 3.0 and 3.5, which felt a lot narrower to me. I tried the 4.0, but the lacing system didn't work for me, so I returned them and waited for the 4.5. My first impressions of the 4.5? They felt much roomier in the toebox than the 3.0 and 3.5! I also noticed that the sizing seemed to be more accurate. From the beginning, I have always ordered a size 8 1/2 and 9, and have found that the 9's were always the same size or slightly smaller than the 8 1/2's! Weird! I tried the 9 1/2, but it was way too big! So I always went with the 8 1/2 and just dealt with the fact that it was slightly small! I was happy to see that the 4.5's in size 9 were finally the appropriate fit for me! Next, the colors in the 4.5 are much more appealing! I have always liked light grey with a splash of color, so the grey/turquoise was perfect for my taste! Thank you Altra! I was very excited when I got my new Lone Peaks! They seemed like the perfect shoe, at least since the 2.5! First hike, 13 miles straight out of the box...bummed! I developed hot spots in the Achilles area! Very disappointed because they seemed perfect! Hike #2, 10 miles with a thicker sock! A little better, but still bummed because I don't like hiking in thicker socks, especially in summer! Hike #3, 8.5 miles in darn tough socks! Awesome! No hot spots and perfectly comfortable! The heel area is definitely slightly higher than the 3.5's, and although the cushioning is less in the heel area, it doesn't seem like it's enough of a difference to cause the hot spots. So I'm going to blame it on the height of the heels! I'm very happy with these shoes with darn tough socks, but it would be nice to be able to wear my lighter weight socks! Keep everything the same, but lower the height of the heel and you've got the perfect shoe!
