One of the better looking Altra’s ive had. Not as comfortable in as my torin’s. But these a far better looking. Less sole support. Less room under the tongue and toe box. But they are worth keeping. I also went a 1/2 size up. Normally wear size 11, Bur for some reason on these the 11.5 felt better.

I am a 265 pound runner and in the military. In my unit we do a lot of running. I rotate these out with my on cloud flows for my road runs. I average 30 miles a week in mix running ( sprint and distances ). These shoes have held up great with the full rubber sole ( I burn through foam) also they feel great on my flat wide feet. Extremely comfortable and durable.

This is my fair pair of runners from Altra, and they have exceeded my expectations. They've been the perfect balance of stability and comfort. Have put on just over 250 miles and they are still in great shape.

I slow jog 20+ miles a week - I used New Valance for years - never got injured but at 49 was feeling some knee discomfort and decided to go with a neutral trainer. My VIHOs are perfect. Light as a feather and perfect my kind of 13-15 minute mile pace. Amazing durability too - I run on asphalt and they're holding up great

They are more narrow than I’m used to from Altras, but still very comfortable. Been on a few walks with them and a couple hikes with my son in a pack and I love them. Also they’re the best looking Altras I’ve owned, but still could stand to get rid of some of the marketing words off the sides of the shoe.

I've owned dozens of Altras and this one has been a standout for me. I always alternate shoes and was using these in my shorter faster training sessions. Decided to do a long run, 30 miles, recently and they were great. Currently my favorite pair of Altras :)

The shoe is light, and supportive. Great fit and feel just wearing for casual events. I've put about 50 miles on them in the last few weeks and they get better with wear.

This is my first pair of Altra shoes and were purchased based off a recommendation from a friend. I'm not a long distance runner but consistently log 3-5 miles per run several days a week. I also spend 5-6 days a week in the gym where I focus on a mixture of crossfit style workouts and heavy lifting. While I do not recommend these shoes for longer distance runs (over 5 miles) or heavy lifting days (needs more stability and stiffness for that), I have found them to be some of the comfortable daily wear and general fitness shoes I've ever worn. I use these shoes for the majority of my workouts now and constantly recommend them to friends and family.

I am just an average runner. Not a marathon runner, and I dont run Ultra marathons or anything that resembles competitive running. Just an average guy that likes to stay in shape. I have 6 pairs of Altras. Lone Peak, Lone Peak RSM, Grafton, Superior, and now the Viho. Have run about 50 miles in this shoe. I live in the country of Minnesota and run on dirt roads. I love this shoe. Light and comfortable. The toe box is a bit tighter than the superior but I think its still roomy. Like the way the heel area fits snug, and the comfort of the insole. Very sharp looking shoe. My favorite Altra for running so far. I am curious how it will hold up. Only draw back to Altras is the durability.

First a little about myself. I am over 40 with countless half marathons and over a dozen marathons under my belt. I have been through the full spectrum of running shoes in my twenty plus years of running. I started experimenting with Altra shoes about three years ago. Usually I stick to the Altra Vanish models, both road and XC. When I saw this model appear on the website I had to give them a try. If I had to choose between this shoe and the Escalante I have to go with the Viho. What separates this shoe from the Escalante is the tread. I don't prefer the segmented tread of the Escalante. When I run with Escalante I get a super-fast wear on the tread that gives the shoe a shorter than usual life span. The Viho has a solid tread that flows from heel to toe. I like the role of this shoe very much I wouldn't use this shoe for speed work or 5k races. I would size this shoe up as more of a a marathon shoe or a long distance trainer. It has the cushion and comfort, but not the agility and weight of a racer. I use the Vanish XC for that. Which is a great racing shoe on the road as well as the trail, just not for marathons, which is why the Viho is a great addition to my arsenal. One downside to this shoe if I have to pick on something is the break in time. I had to run about thirty miles in these shoes before I felt fully comfortable in them. I think it is mostly the upper that does it. The toe box rubbed my toes a bit at first. My advice to Altra is this. Put this tread on an Escalante upper and you will would have a 100% awesome marathon shoe.

This is my 12th pair of Altras and I must say the best yet. I was disappointed when they stopped making the One V3, which was my previous favorite. This shoe is lightweight, but has enough structure for me to play tennis in. Another benefit is that the sole is hard enough for hard surfaces and won't wear out after a couple of months.

These shoes are great. I have been running in the escalantes for the past year and loved them but they were a bit too soft. These viho are perfect. I run 3-4 miles a day and have increased my splits by 45 seconds in these. They are very responsive and light weight. By far my favorite running shoe I've had. Great job Altra.

I have tons of Altras. Love them all. This shoe hits the sweet spot between the Escalante and the Kayenta. The Kayenta is a good, fast, firm shoe. The Escalante (1.5) is too squishy for my tastes. Too much cushion. This ViHO is a perfect blend. Enough cushion that I will train in it most every day, and would race a marathon without a second though. I would wear the Kayenta for a half, same with the Escalante Racer. This has a little more cushion, without feeling soft. And it still feels fast, but not overly so, to where it makes you run faster than planned, on a long pace day. Like the Kayentas make me run at almost race pace every time I put them on. I was hoping to find my new, daily go-to trainer, and so far, the ViHO seems to be the answer I was looking for!

i'm an Altra fan, but have found that there are certainly some I like better than others. One of my favorites is the Escalante Racer. This shoe seems similar to me except it seems to have some added heel cushion. I feel that this is a positive addition. The shoe toe box is comfortable and it fits well, but it is more of a natural feel than some if that is what you like.
I'd also recommend:

I've put on over 350 miles on my Solstice, which were my first pair of Altra's. Going from the thin racing flat to this was a bit of a change but I love them! They have much more structure and cushion than the solstice but indeed an excellent shoe. Still very responsive and light. The mesh on top is breathable. My only negative comment was they took a few miles (18mi) to fully break in and feel like a glove, at least for me. Looking forward to many miles to come

I wore this for a 9 mile run, and noted this is adequate for a distance shoe. I also noted this was a "fast" shoe, and as such I will be wearing these for speed / tempo runs. I would recommend these for 5k-10k, even 1/2 marathon distances. They have excellent grip, and a comfortable fit. Snug, but not too tight. I would purchase these again.

VIHOs-I work in them everyday, mostly standing and walking. Just for reference: I wear and have worn, timp 1.5 and new 2.0, superior 2.0 and 4, lone peak boots 4, lone peak shoe 4.5, solstice xt, another solstice. I am absolutely in love the with zero heel. I spend a lot of money on good shoes and always have- brooks beast and adrenaline, etc. I find that the altra brand figured it out. I have a wide toe box. Wore 4E in brooks. I like the VIHOs quite well. They remind me of the solstice but a little on the tougher side (mesh and wall material). I change shoes on average about 2-3 months. It is why I have so many pairs. None of my shoes have actually worn out. My timp 1.5s break down a little-not a lot - on the outside but I am a big boy 260lbs and tend to supinate and I'll wear those longer because of cushioning. Still love those shoes as well. I have the new TUSHAR boots but haven't worn them yet.

I wore this shoe right out of the box for the Phoenix Marathon. Ill advised to wear a new shoe, I know. I planned to wear Torin 4 and these felt very similar with a couple of differences. Light. Very light. The upper provides a bit more structure/support than the Torin via a "skeleton" on the mesh. There is plenty of cushioning, too, but is not as responsive as the Escalante (which is too spongy imo). Would highly recommend checking this out - one of the better Altra shoes I've worn.

I just started running when I got this shoe and it has performed great. I had heard great things about Altra, so I decided to try them out. I think for the price this is a great shoe. My only complaint is near the laces seems to be narrow and tight on the top of my foot. I have loosened the laces but still have some pain on top of my foot when running. Maybe it takes some time for them to break in more. I've had them for about a month now.

Altra is my favorite shoe. Because of the large toe box. Most if not all of the new shoes they are making do not have as large of a toe box as their older shoes that I loved so much. These are really good shoes, don't get me wrong, but I really wanted to love them...and I just like them.

While they aren't my favorite Altras, they are still good shoes. For me, these will definitely be for up-tempo runs where I want to pick up the pace. They did take a bit of breaking in compared to other Altra shoes I've owned, but at least did break in. Original stiffness could be compared to the first couple of versions of the Instinct. They are a little narrower compared to my other Altras, Torin 4 & Escalante 2.5. If I lace them up loosely, they end up working out ok and the toe box is still better than most other brands.

They are really nice, I like the look and the feel for the most part, but they could be a little wider. They are a little to narrow around the mid. Point of my foot.
