I have walked miles in the NB 840 for years and years, but didn't like the colors they offered; of late. Customrer service suggested that I try the 940. It's perfect. Like the 840, it's very comfortable and accommodates my orthodic inserts.

Theses shoes are very light and comfortable. There is better overall support than in other shoes and they keep my foot from pronating.
I'd also recommend:
New Balance seems to be the best for me.

I have been getting New Balance 940s for years. They always fit perfectly and I rarely put on anything else. I use them for Jazzercise, walking, and hiking.
There's never a need to "break them in" and I usually wear them from morning till night everyday. Thanks for the consistent quality and reliability, NB!

I wear these shoes for my daily walks which are 1 1/2 -2 miles. This shoe provides the structure I need for my fallen arches and bunions. My feet never felt so great!

This is my fifth pair of 940's in 5 years. Comfortable, cool summer weight sneakers. Somewhat hesitant about the mesh upper material lasting very long since big toe often pushes into the fabric. Previous versions lasted about 1 year for easy to moderate walking 1-2 miles per day.

I used to wear Brooks Adrenaline but I noticed the toe-box was getting a bit smaller this year so I bought the New Balance and they are wonderful-plenty of room-I don't look at cost of the shoes 'cause when you have very fat feet due to bunions you buy what fits-I walk about 2 miles a day and my feet thank me

This is the best version yet of the 940 line. Great cushioning, fabric has just enough stretch to help with hammer toes or other issues, still comfortable at the end of the day. The laces help with stretch that gives comfort all day and eases on and off.

I neede this shoes for walking. But when I received it, it was to long for me. I thought I know my exact size based on 3 other NB shoes. I don't know what's happened. Therefore I need to go to store and try it on then buy it. This shoes has enough support, platform, I really like it.

This is my second pair of 940s. The first pair lasted over two years and they are still good enough to give to charity.
The new ones are as good or better than the v. 2s. I have arthritic knees and ankles and flat feet. With off the rack orthotic insoles I can walk two miles. Great cushioning/comfort. SO happy.

It's been a couple years since I've worn these shoes as prescribed by my doctor. My feet are loving them. They are so roomy but not too big, and light as a feather so I don't feel weighed down. I love the color and style and will be buying another pair soon so as to wear them alternately. Thanks so much Zappos for saving my feet at such a reasonable price!

this shoe is so comfortable. I have injured feet and surgeries and peripheral neuropathy so shoes really hurt me. Left ankle tendon is totally torn and my left foot collapsed.These NB do not hurt. I never thought I would have to wear such shoes as I always wore beautiful shoes. Now I cannot. And if not for New Balance I guess I would have to wear just house slippers all the time!
I'd also recommend:
Stick with New Balance!
