Reasonably comfortable at first, but poorly constructed. Within a couple of weeks a hard piece of the frame began jutting into my heel. Not acceptable for such an expensive shoe. I used to love New Balance shoes, but in the last couple of years their manufacturing and quality have become progressively worse.

The shoes are poor quality. I had this pair for less than a week and the left shoe ripped by the seams in the toe area. They weren't small so that wasn't the cause. Just poor cheap material.

Fit and size were OK. There was a defect inside the right shoe that rubbed against my toe. Just a bit of a protrusion that was not present in the left shoe. I would, however, order again. Item returned.

Sole was pronated. I didn't need this. I have flat feet. Shoe was uncomfortable to walk in.

I was a bit surprised when trying them on, they were actually a bit big in length (width was good). At a size 15 4E that almost never happens ?. Putting in my usual foot support seems to have fixed the problem. The style looks great

I had a pair of 940s. My husband and I walk and no matter what shoe he tried, and what orthotic, including prescription orthotics that he wore, his ankles and feet bothered him after we walk. (we walk 4 miles several times a week). I ordered a pair of 940s for him and he LOVED them from the first day he wore them. He now had 3 pair, one for walking, one for yard work, and one just in case they stop making them. He is not using any orthotics with this shoe.

I loved the version 3 of the 940s, and also had prior versions that were fine. I don’t have a whole lot of options in a size 17 with enough support and room for orthotics. The problem with these v4 is that the material around the toe box is hard and quickly became dented and rubbed very uncomfortably again my feet. The prior model has a soft material around the toe box that doesn’t become misshapen.

My last UA pair were very comfortable, this one I don’t know... I included this photo after two days of “breaking them in” only 6 miles on them so far and no matter what sock or eyelet I lace them up to I get this on one Achilles heel. No running. Just walking.

I have not worn "shoes" since 2017 due to numerous spine surgeries and becoming disabled. My right lower leg and foot are paralyzed, my toes curled under my foot and walking was only inside with the help of a walker. My Podiatrist recommended these New Balance shoes among others, I wear a 4E now with a wide toe box. I just had a triple Tenotomy, the tendons in 3 toes were cut to allow them to straighten out. The New Balance 940v4 shoes fit perfectly even with my toes in splints. I am learning to walk again and I am doing it in comfortable and very light shoes. As I become stronger and can walk more I have a "go to" shoe that I know will fit and be comfortable. I've come a long way from wearing pull-on water shoes since 2017, I never gave up hope on walking again. I've dealt with Zappos since 2004, I am thrilled to be dealing with them again!!!

I have plantar problems and almost put in my own insoles. I don't need to do that. The arch support is great, the material is soft and the width stability is just what I need. Not sure if I will wear them at work ,but if I do, I'm on my feet for 8 straight hours and I'm sure they will work.

Size felt a little large, but ok. The problem is the stiff material that is under the mesh , on top of white rubber sole. The material creased and was pinching my foot. Same thing happened on both sides but worse on the left.

The 940 is the ONLY model of running shoe I have worn for the past 8 years! The Size 10/W4E fits my wide feet really well. I have tried other New Balance models and brands, and nothing comes close to the fit of the 940. I walk for fitness on the treadmill and outside for at least 3 to 4 miles almost everyday, and the 940 has held up. I also get a lot of compliments on the look and style. I can wear them to work out in the gym, or with jeans while out for a nice evening. Thank you Zappos & New Balance!

A very stable shoe with pretty wide toe box. My feet do not feel cramped. Good cushioning.

The shoes fit very well for wide feet. The soft mesh on top made it easy for my bunion to be comfortable.

The only positive reviews I've seen for this shoe are from people who have issues with their feet (orthopedics and such). So, as a person with 'normal' feet, I thought I'd chime in - this is a great shoe, fits well and seems good quality. I have worn nothing but Nikes my entire adult life, but with the recent marketing and sponsorship decisions they've made, they have lost a life long customer in me. After some research, I decided to try this shoe and it's great. I used to wear size 11.5 Nikes, so I ordered these in size 11.5 Wide and they fit great. A touch bit wider than the Nikes, but I like it as the Nikes would squeeze my toes until broken in. Great shoes overall.

I wear a size 8 D width. Fits great true to size, only been wear them for about 1/2 a day and so far they feel great. Quality is ? I hope they last like other New Balance sneakers I wear ( 990 V5 ). Yes I would recommend 940.
