I bought this last January for the sole purpose of having a portable mat, and it fulfilled that expectation because it's very light, it doesn't feel like I'm carrying a mat. What I didn't expect though, is that it becomes very slippery when you're sweating all over. Grip is good only during light perspiration, when sweat won't even drip onto the mat. I live in a tropical country so yoga sessions (even the beginners classes) becomes very hot, humid. I have no issues with the rubbery smell, in fact I love it.

This mat is for the traveling Yogi. Folds up easily to fit inside your carry on luggage. Perfect for hotel rooms with carpeted flooring. Grip is excellent--no slipping necessary! Very pleased with the purchase.

I bought this mat about two weeks ago and I've enjoyed it to travel and also in my home practice. The texture gives a nice grip so I'm not sliding same as other manduka mats. Great for travel.

As a kid, do you remember fruit roll ups? That's what this reminds me of every time I roll it up. Similar thickness, probably a bit thicker though. My main use for it has been covering the provided mats at studios and the YMCA. It works well for this. (the Y does't wash mats in between uses, and neither do many non-hot yoga studios). Portable, fun and the earthy design reminds me of lava. Good grip, but still it's nice to have a hand towel at your side just in case hands slip a little during downward dog towards the end of a class.

But I really wish they sold something lighter because weight is also such an issue with a travel mat. However, it is indeed foldable and it is very sticky both great features. Now, can you make a really light one for those of us with heavy travel schedules? When I am away, I tend not to be doing a long, sweaty practice, so I really just need something light because I am doing it in a hotel room and not going to a yoga studio.

As I travel for business it's nice to have a mat that is lightweight and compact to be placed in my carry on luggage. Home for me is where ever I can lay down my mat in order to practice.

I bought this May for classes and camping. I like it for those things. It had a strong smell which disappeared after laying open on the back porch. It has no padding for knees, sacrum, etc. The positives are that it is super sticky, no sliding about at all. Great for balancing poses as there is so little padding. And it is lightweight and flexible, perfect for schlepping about. It is a perfect second mat, you might want a thicker mat if you can only have one.

I packed this mat and took on vacation. It is very thin and can easily fold in any way to help fit in suitcase. The floor in my hotel room was hardwood, so it wasn't easy on the knees, however, I have taken it to hotels with carpet, and it has felt great to practice on.

I ordered this mat about 2 months ago and I absolutely love it! It has a great grip and it's very travel friendly. You can fold it up to about the size of a chapter book. The only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars is because the grip is great but not exactly for hot yoga. I tend to get sweatier than most so you may not have this problem. Also the yogitoes and this mat are not very compatible when they get moist. They bundle up and slip. But overall, it is a great light weight mat that's easily portable.

This mat is made of great material that really doesn't slip, which is always a pet peeve of mine. I love how easily it folds up without leaving wrinkles or bulges, and it actually lays out flat. It's obviously very thin, hence the travel feature, but that means you feel everything under your mat. Which is the only reason for not loving it all 5 stars worth.

This travel mat folds easily into carry-on luggage and, aside from its rubber smell, provides a great non-slip surface. I think this is a great mat to take on a short vacation when you don't feel like lugging your regular Manduka on a plane and still want to fit in a daily practice. I've been using it daily for 3 weeks now away from home with a Yogitoes towel over it for some extra padding, and its thinness is really starting to be uncomfortable for me. When I return to my regular yoga studio and mat, I'll probably use this travel mat as extra padding over my Manduka to get more use out of it.

I bought this mat to take to China. It was lightweight, and took little space in my suitcase. The mat was sticky so my feet stayed in place.it was not a problem for me, but some might need more padding under knees.

I like very much the lightness of it, the material with one side more like fabric. However it is not sticky enough for my hands. Cannot practice safely. Too bad.

I have had an manduka ecolite mat before and had high expectations but I bought these to teach with and the blue colour very quickly got dirty and students complained about slipping.

Great travel mat, but it's so thin that I cannot use it by itself. I do like the quality and the color, as well as the grip that it has when you do a " pigeon " your legs actually stay in place because of the mat.

I really like this mat for its size and portability but it's useless without a towel. Way too slippery, even with very little perspiration.

I bought this mat for travel, expecting the level of quality I've come to trust from Manduka. On a recent trip, I was excited to use my new mat for some daily yoga classes. I appreciated the portability of this mat, which fit into a carry-on suitcase with ease when folded. However, just a few uses in, the top layer of the mat started to peel off in the places my hands and feet rubbed against it the most (from a fairly basic vinyasa practice). As a result, I am disappointed by this product, and would not recommend it. I have recommended Manduka to many students, and have used many of their products, but this is one that seems to need improvement.

I already had prolite mat from last one year but during Ashtanaga yoga it get slippery after 30-40 minutes becasue I sweat during practice and I tried salt method but it didnt work. So I got this mat to use on top of it to avoid slipperness of the mat. As these mat are specifically design for this purpose. However, during my first led primary series class, it started being slippery and become diffcult for me to practice. So I cannot rate it 5. Also if anyone knows how it can get better or less slippery during the practice please share with me. Thank you.

I was very excited to get this mat and impressed by how light the material is. But practicing on it for the first time was a real disappointment, my feet and hands slip as soon as I start sweating. And I don't have THAT sweaty hands and feet! But even downdog isn't possible. A real bummer.

While I adore my first Manduka mat, this one, sadly, falls short. My hands and feet are quite sweaty and this matt has zero traction. I did buy it for it's thinness and travel appeal, and for that I am pleased, but I have yet to pack it for a trip. Overall, I'm disappointed.
