I purchased these shoes to use on the longer day hikes around the Livingston/Yellowstone area. I was looking for a shoe with more cushion than a conventional hiking boot, but more support than speed goats I use daily for dog walks. The sole is very grippy out of the box, but it is soft compared to a conventional hiking shoe. I plan on sticking to the well-maintained trails with this shoe.
They are very comfortable to hike in and do not feel too chunky on my foot.

I bought these today hike on trails. Most of the trails around here are steep and rocky but well maintained, such as those in Yellowstone Park. I purchased this shoe for longer hikes, 6-9 miles. This shoe complements my speed goats that are my everyday shoes for short hikes.
They grip have a good grip on steep rocky terrain out of the box. The sole is softer than a regular hiking boot, so I feel they may wear down fast if going off trail. Overall I am exited to get out on the trail with these. The fit was good for my wide size 10 woman's foot.

Purchased the boots for my hiking trip through the Rocky's. The boots felt amazing and did a solid job helping me keep balance. Another great aspect is how fast the boots dried once finishing the hike. I'll be buying another color, HOKA just got themselves a repeat customer.

Coming from a pair of Keen Durand II 10.5 W, the size 10 Toa's are great. Just as stable, lighter, and plenty of width for my wide forefoot without being loose in the heel. Great traction, and foot protection for shoes this light and agile. Plenty of room for a light hiking sock. First time out I wore them up/down Brasstown Bald in GA on the Arkaquah trail. About 12 miles, and 3500 feet of climbing. Totally comfortable right out of the box. They will go backpacking with me next week.

These are my go-to hikers: just did a five day backpack through some very tough country in Central Arizona with them and they performed beautifully.

Great boots! Super comfortable and light weight. The grip is designed in such a way that makes hiking that much more easier. If your looking for ankle support as well this is the shoe for you!

As a life long athlete I have injured my ankles countless times. At some point you just become more prone to repeat injuries in this area. So far, and I expect it will continue, these are the most comfortable 'Hi-Tops" I've ever worn. Wish they came in more colors and cost half as much but... Anything worth having is expensive nowadays!!!

I was looking for a 3 season hiking sneaker and found it in TOA Gore-Tex. Comfortable just walking rail trails but also sturdy enough for the AT hikes. I have other hiking boots for snow, otherwise these will cover all other times.

I took these boots out for their inaugural hike today in the Smokies. I got caught out in a steady rain with a period of significant downpour. After 2 hours on rocky terrain in the rain with water flowing over the rocks in more places than not, I have three observations to make: #1 they are like walking on clouds the whole time. #2 I never slipped once. Not a bit. #3 my feet were still comfortable and dry at the end. I will be ordering my wife a matching pair when we get back from vacation. Highly recommended!

Hoka Toa shoes have a roomy toe box; snug but not tight mid-shoe and heel area; cushioned quite nicely, yet can feel the ground; laces long enough to tie securely; easy on, easy off. A very well thought out shoe design. Thank you Hoka!

Literally pulled these out of the box and went to do a full 10 hour archery tournament that included hiking, walking through mud and water. Never sat down all day. Stayed on my feet from sun up to sun down and never had anything close to a pain. No blisters. Nothing. Can't believe right out of the box they wore like I'd been hiking in years with them. Couldn't be happier.

Admittedly I spend most of my day standing around on a concrete floor. These have a good amount of cushioning, but not too much that they feel squishy. The support is outstanding. I put a pair of Superfeet insoles into all of my shoes except these. The sizing is consistent with the Arahi and Challenger models.
These replaced a six-year-old pair of Keens and the difference is simply astonishing. Well worth the price.
