Never work HOKA before so was skeptical. Needed a waterproof hiking shoe to go on Boy Scout 4000 foot Weekend hike with son. Old shoes (different brand) were great but well worn. was rainy and wet. Feet did not get wet and did not slip (not counting the mud). They do run a little narrow and small...needed to return mine for a bigger 1/2 size when I need to replace my running shoes, I will look at HOKA

Its comfortable for my feet, like walking on air and no pressure at the same time.

Now my favorite hiking shoes. Love the thick sole and cushioning.

The best walking shoe I've ever purchased. Have recommended the ATR 5 to another friend who has recently ordered a pair. Sincerely, these shoes have enabled me to reutrn to where I can enjoy walking for pleasure again.

I bought it for my trip in the desert, spend 3 days hiking with it, and it was so comfortable.

Lightweight. Based on my prior experience with waterproof, Gor-tex shoes, I ordered 1/2 size above my usual shoe size. The toe box is roomy and very comfortable. So far, they seem to be waterproof and so far, I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Not a runner but was recommended for plantar fasciitis. Foot has less pain, I am wearing them all day. Walked in snow and kept my feet dry. Surprisingly lightweight. Hoping they hold up for a year since they are expensive.

Pair number five for me-and - The most comfortable. I have incredible pain and swelling in my feet and ankles as I am an ER nurse and spend 12 to 16 hours a day on my feet these shoes Help me tremendously to reduce that fatigue and pain.

I use these shoes for golf, they work perfect with no slippage! Plus. My feet feel so much better after a round of golf!

They make every road/trail feel like you're walking barefoot on thick wool carpet. Inspired to run farther and stay outside longer. These are next level.

Trail running with my wire haired pointers

I enjoy trail running once or twice a week as a departure from the road... maybe 4-5 miles at a time through local, wooded preservations. However, I have always just used my road running shoes because I never thought my trail runs were serious enough to warrant purchasing trail specific shoes. But then came an invite from my daughter to hike up Mount Katahdin in Maine; that impelled me to first research various trail runners, and then take the plunge with the Challenger ATR 5 Gore-Tex. So psyched I did! When trail running, having the extra grip and support is magical! When climbing up Katahdin, not once did I give my feet a thought; and that is a very challenging hike, both up and down. Again, the ATR 5's were like magic! For me, they are an amazingly comfortable, trail running and hiking shoe.

I recommend these shoes. I think they have room for improvement. As they are not very sturdy or durable. I will break these shoes in 3 months.

I started hiking the AT in mid-rise boots and had a lot of swelling in my ankles 100 miles in. I was lucky to meet a shoe expert that fitted me with ATRs and I had a dream hike from then on. They provide amazing stability over rocks and roots and I didn't get a single blister even on 20+ mile days. I cannot sing my Hoka praises enough. These shoes saved my hike.

My husband was getting pain in his tendon, this shoe fixed that issue, he loves these shoes.

I need a wide width in women's shoes. Since this does not come in wide, I purchased the men's shoe because it runs wider than the women's. It fits great. I wanted a waterproof shoe so my feet stay dry when I walk in the rain. So far, I have walked twice in light rain and my feet stayed dry. I hope they will stay dry when I walk in a heavier rain.

I run in them & wear them most of the time..

Love Hoka shoes. These are my 5th pair. However .... I don't like the yellow strip fabric on the heel; would prefer all black with reflector strip.

Great shoe, very comfortable and durable.
