I absolutely loves the fit and feel of my previous Hokas. I expected the same from these and didn't get that. The stance of my precious shoes were great for trail running. This shoe is barely good for long walks.

I got these shoes for my husband since I love mine so much. He loved how his get didn't hurt by end of the day. However, He only wears them on weekends and they are already falling apart. It's sad that they are not going to work for him.

I am a Hoka fan. I have been for years. I need a wide size and I really wanted to like the Challenger Low Gore-Tex. I tried the mid rise version in a 10.5 normal width: too narrow, footbed lumpy with my custom inserts. I switched to a 10 wide in the low. Still to narrow. Tried a 10.5 wide in the low, better, but still a bit tight and the foot bed was still lumpy and would be quite uncomfortable on a long walk/hike. I decided to stick with my old Speedgoat 10 wide and my Bondi 6s, 10 wide. I give both of those a 5+ Star, but the Challenger, sadly only a 2 Star.

Started to get calf pain and some knee pain while wearing them. Kept trying every day then every other day. Seems to throw my gate off. But I think it's too late to return them.

They are very hard on the soles of my feet. I wore them around my apartment to see if they would get looser or softer but it hurt to keep them on so back they go.

The shoe is really nice, the problem is that the laces are too short to lace properly over my feet. When I ask the only option was to return the shoes and reorder a pair to see if the new one has longer laces.

Used for walking during outdoor activities.
The alignment of the upper with the base forces uncomfortable ankle over pronation.
This results in most weight bearing on the medial side of the sole.
I have mitigated this a little by shifting the removable sole medically as much as possible.

I would definitely purchase if 4EEEE available. The EE was too narrow for me (no give on the gortex)

It fits ok but the sole is so hard they hurt your feet if you wear them too long.
They should have copied Asics as far as soft sole cushion. I would send them back, but Asics quit making extra wide Gore-Tex running shoes that fit me.
I'd also recommend:

VERY COMFORTABLE SHOE BUT IF YOU NEED WATER PROOF/RESISTANT, I RECCOMMEND THE HIGHER BOOT.

Although I purchased this shoe in the same size that I wear in other Hoka shoes, the Challenger didn't work for me for two reasons: one, there is no alternate way to lace the shoe and I had a problem with heel slippage. Two, the leather upper, while warmer than mesh (which was my hope), also irritated the tops of my toes.

I like Hoka's cushion a lot that's why I bought this. But during a week trip in Colorado, I wear this for hiking and found this pair is actually bad for hiking. 1) it made my feet wet during the day hike and I had to prepare a spare pair of socks 2) it's still very slippery on wet rock 3) its ground grip is just ok, not very stable on gravel road.
In all, I think it's not a good choice for a long distance day hike or trail running. Maybe good for a 5 miles.

The shoe is advertised as waterproof. The inside of the shoe now get wet on the inside. Just walking through wet grass. Less than 30 days in.

I would like to return them, having worn them because I had no choice (they were very pricey) . The heel design, a HUGE protuberance), caused numerous, near falls while descending stairs. I am fortunate that I didn’t break my neck!

Hike twice with these. Both times feet hurt particularly toes going down hill. Sent back (easy). Will give up on Hoka for trail shoes until the boots are offered in a wide size . Tried two socks and lacing tightness. Nothing helped

This is the worst low hiking shoe I have ever had. My feet ache after four or five hours of wearing them. They suck!

Have worn Hokas for many years now in exactly the same size, including this exact model. Recent changes to the sizing and manufacturing processes have significantly changed the fit. When I asked directly, Hoka reps told me that sizes have not changed, but I can hold this pair up to the exact same model from a year ago and see how much they have shrunk. Either they're lying about not changing the sizes, or they have some serious inconsistencies in the manufacturing process. Either way, what a mess. Extremely disappointed in a brand I've come to trust.

Multiple parts of the sole are falling apart or have already come off. The sole started coming off around the heel on one shoe after only my first wear, I glue it, and now other parts of the sole are just falling off on both shoes. I've glued the pieces back on, but this is clearly a design problem, where the sole just isn't durable or well made enough to withstand basic use. Poor quality, not worth the price, really disappointed.

The rubber at the base of the shoe is already pulling apart from the body after three weeks. The rubber on the base was nicked and is not colored throughout, only on the surface, creating pock marks. I thought Hoka shoes were premium quality and craftsmanship.
