I'm enjoying these Hoka Toa hikers! They offer a lot of cushion, especially with the heel strike. I have been suffering from plantar fasciitis and these hiking shoes seem to help. This shoe/boot fits wide in the toe box, which I definitely like! I also tried on the Speedgoat but felt the Toa fit a bit wider in the toe. I did go with a half size larger than I typically wear in a Hoka shoe. I like that they offer ankle support without rubbing on my ankle. I'm not sure about the color, but it's growing on me!

I’ve worn this 3 times already, total of 15 miles.
While the fit is great, I feel like there’s not much of cushioning in it. At the end of my last hike, the bottom of my foot felt sore and my great toes almost got a blister .

This is my 4th time to purchase a pair of Hoka One One shoes. I'm in my 60's and still hike most weekends. These are by fair the best hiking shoes for me. They feel good, are great for any weather or terrain. The grip is great and I no longer slip or lose my balanve

I've been dealing with plantar fasciitis for 5 years. I've bought Kuru, Oofos, New Balance, Brooks and Hoka shoes. The Gortex Hiking Boot along with Dr. Scholls insoles was the one to start healing it. I've bought the Bondi 6 and 7 and wore them with Dr. Scholls Plantar fasciitis insoles and had no relief. I chose the hiking boots because my ankle was hurting and needed support. It worked!! The only reason I gave 4 stars is because these shoes are ugly. Lol. My feelings were hurt to pay almost $200 for shoes that I don't like cosmetically. I only wore these for about a week to work and then switched to a lighter weight Hoka shoe and my heal pain is gone. My plantar fasciitis isn't cured but Im not in pain anymore and can tell it is healing. I wear the recovery slides around the house as well. I feel most of the Hoka shoes are ugly but I need good shoes for work and Nike just can't get there.

This is my first pair of Hokas, and I bought them for light hiking/everyday wear. They are roomier than I prefer; I usually like a snug fit. I am almost always a size 7, and tried the 7 (Zappos recommended size) an the 6.5 (the size recommended via the Hoka website). The 6.5 was OK in width but too short -- my toe had constant pressure, and the 7 feels slightly too big, even with a thick sock. I found myself wishing they made a size 6.75. My only issue with these is with a small piece of material that appears designed to keep the tongue from slipping around under the laces. That extra bit of material next to the lacing creates a hot spot on the top of my foot, and I have to adjust it around each time I lace up because it's so annoying. Nevertheless I kept the size 7 because they are so great looking and they are comfy despite the little flaws.

My first impression of the OKAs was not great, the ankle fit at the shoelace eyelets bothered me a bit. I have since gone out 5 times for 3-5 mile hike/runs and the OKAs are feeling better and better. Great wide toe box and fantastic traction. I have not gone on wet snow yet, still need to assess gore-tex performance.

Weird looking on the foot..almost like a paddle like at toe box. I was looking for a more traditional hiking boot so these went back to Zappos.

I was hoping the footbed would be the same as my amazing HOKA sneakers yet the first time I wore them my arch really hurt. I will continue to break them and hope this goes away as I have never had that issue with my sneakers.

When I tried these hiking boots on for the first time I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable and lightweight they felt. I was able to wear them immediately without having to break them in. I wore them hiking all over Iceland and continued to wear them for my daily dog walks in the park. Unfortunately after wearing them less than a year the fabric started separating and the boots are no longer waterproof. They also seem to have shrunk and are less comfortable than when I just purchased them. A disappointment considering how pricey they are.

Purchased in early winter and still need to wait for warmer weather to make any comments on comfort. The times I have used they seem comfortable. My hesitation to wear them however is more the issue. They are boats....big, huge, boats. I put them on and want to change into other shoes because of their size. Comfort is not the only consideration. Hoka did replace the first pair purchased because the color I purchased was too bold - thought I could pull off. Perhaps this is my fault to not realize the parameters of my taste. I want to like these shoes because of the Hoka name and what people have said about them, but I can't get past the design detail. Questions below as usual don't cover the entire truth. Fit and width feels fine, but also don't factor in shoe size.

I love Hoka running shoes for fit and style (although you have to appreciate and ignore the thick, orthopedic-esque heel for its cushion) but these are just too much. The heel is not only thick but wider than the shoe. I also bought another pair from Helly Hansen which were equally comfortable and much nicer so I am returning these and keeping those!

The fit was perfect everywhere except the ankle. There is a seem that dug into my ankle and I knew it would create a blister after a hike. I had to return them.

I actually love this shoe. But it is starting to come unglued in spots after only a few days of wear! I didn't expect it to be super durable because it is very lightweight, but it should not start coming apart so quickly.

I am on my second pair of Hoka Toa's. The first pair delaminated on the outside of the toe after only one use. I returned them and got a second pair. The second pair is good - the fit is spot on, the shoes are relatively comfortable before going on trail. However, Hoka is breaking my heart by making almost all their trail shoes Gortex. These boots take forever to dry out, tear up my feet when they get wet/moisture builds up, hold moisture especially when it's hot and humid, and have consistently given me blisters despite trying a variety of preventative remedies. I can only recommend these boots if they are made without Gortex.

I read the reviews that stated the shoes were very wide in the toe box, but wanted to try them for myself. They were very wide, and I had to return them. I really liked the color and style of the shoe, so wish they would have worked.

I was excited to try these shoes/boots because I love my Hoka walking shoes. Although they are comfortable, I feel that the ankle support is not enough for me and my ankles and arches seem to lean in with these shoes- even with orthotic insoles. Other hiking boots give much more support for my ankles, but unfortunately I haven't found the boot that has enough room for my toes and bunions and decent ankle support. Sadly I will be returning these. I'm on the fence regarding a recommendation- if you don't need much ankle support definitely try them on.

First off, I have joint hypermobility (too-stretchy connective tissue) so I have chronic fatigue and a lot of joint pain. I also roll my ankles a lot, and am looking for a shoe to protect my ankles and support my joints. I got the toa because of the mid ankle, support, and of course the raving reviews. However I found I was not impressed, and had to return. They feel like good sneaks, but not much more. If that's what you're looking for, these have a nice roomy toe box, great waterproofing, and comfy bounce, but they won't help with joint issues or rolling. Also!! They run .5 to a full size large. Size accordingly.

I wasn’t crazy about the look of them. Nevertheless they are very comfy and fit my orthotics in perfectly. My one and only issue is that they were NOT truly waterproof the one time I wore them in the rain my toes were all soggy. Not good when you’re on your feet all day walking dogs.

I wanted to use this shoe for hiking but the bones in my feet are prone to stress fractures, so I developed these fractures around my ankles. It's a bummer because otherwise I think they were good hiking shoes.

I returned these. The toe area was large and looked round and clownish to me. Made my feet look huge!
I tried them on several times because I really liked how they looked online! Super disappointed.

I owned a pair of TOAs before these that a perfect fit. I wore them for hikes and snowshoeing. The new pair has a different look and fit, mostly across the forefoot and toe area. The mesh seems the bend or crease in a funny way. The footbed was not as comfortable and the Goretex actually makes my feet feel sweaty...all the things you don’t know until after your buy and try. Oh well.
