I would give these shoes a 5+ except I think the lacing is a bit awkward. I have a hard time getting the laces through the hooks at the top. Otherwise, these are PERFECT.

So far I've been able to take a few easy hikes with these boots right out of the box. My only complaint is one of the grommets bothers my ankle but if I don't lace it, I don't feel it at all. Hoping to have them broken in completely after a few more hikes. Overall, really like them!

I do not like the shoe lace design. It is annoying.

I have a Clifton 10.5 Wide running shoe that fits my foot like a glove, and inspired me to try Hoka boots. This was the only wide width Hoka boot I could find, so I ordered it with high hopes. The outside edge of my foot hangs in an uncomfortable way over the edge of the boot. I compared them to my Cliftons, and the bottoms of the Clifton seem wider than the Challenger boots. Perhaps I'm just used to Keen boots where I don't even wear a wide width? Will sadly be returning in order to try some wide Oboz and Merrells.

They arrived defective as you can see in the photo, I return them not because of that but because they are big, otherwise i like them, what happened with the quality control?

So comfortable and my foot pain did not flare!! Definitely waterproof. Unfortunately, I found lacing the top, split eyelet too difficult and time consuming so I returned them. Also, the toe leather had ware and scratch damage after only 4 days of hiking. Some type of toe guard would be good. If they fix these issues, I will definitely purchase again.

It is a 3 for me, because I need a bit more aggressive lugs to hike in Nevada plus more stability if I were to use them for backpacking. I bought them to try out as I don't like the high top boots. Mid high is good enough. They will be fine for some light hiking I am sure & they are comfortable. I didn't keep them long enough to decide if they would be hot i the summer with waterproofing.

I recently bought a pair of women's challenger hiking boots. I love the shoes, but the laces broke in the first week and are very difficult to replace. They are a non-standard width, and the lacing eyelets are too small for standard boot laces. Very frustrating! Who wants to pay almost $200 for a pair of shoes you can't wear because of a weird lacing system and cheap laces? Hoka needs to correct this.

I bought HOka One One four years ago and walked over 400 miles with them. The were great. The new version was very narrow, lacked the cushion in the souls and had to return them. Would not buy them again

Took my first hike in them today. very comfortable. Somewhat concerned about if they will hold up. They are not as sturdy as my old Hokas.

Boot is stiff. Did not love the feel, unlike my Hoka running shoes which I love. When walking the toe creases across my toes and its irritating. Love the cushioned heel and sole

I wanted to love this boot, I wear Hoka one one 6 then bought Hoka one one 7 so so comfy and cushioned, but these boots are hard inside . I wanted to put a cushioned orthotic, but I would have to size up, so I am returning them. Didn't even try on the left boot, just trying on the right boot was uncomfortable to walk in..

In what universe are these true to size? They run at least half to a whole full size too big. My first time purchasing Hoka One, so perhaps I missed the memo. They also have this rocking back and forth feeling as you can clearly see why in the photo of the shoes. I'm not sure how they'd go with hiking especially with the platform so chunky. Otherwise, they are good looking shoes overall.

I liked the style and comfort of this shoe. The brown color made it seem more like a hiking shoe, but it had the comfort of a running shoe. I bought my usual size for Hoka, but the shoe was too long, and rubbed the top of my toes when I walked. So, I'm returning them.

I love the Hoka One One Challenger sneaker because its toe box is a bit wider- but this hiking boot was far too narrow in the toe box. If you don't need a wider toe box, I think this would be a great boot!

the boots were comfy and supportive once on, but the grommets are extremely difficult to work with - are a new design it seems, and the laces don't go in easily or smoothly. they didn't seem worth the trouble it was to get them on

The strength of these hiking boots is cushioning, cushioning, and more cushioning in the soles. This is particularly helpful for people suffering from problems with their feet. At the same time, there is no cushioning on the circular part that wraps around your leg, hence they cause painful discomfort. The foot beds are a bit flimsy offering not nearly as much support, especially arch support, as boots I've owned previously. Additionally, as many others have pointed out, the shoe laces do not easily fit into the hooks provided for them, and you'll spend an hour trying to get them laced. That's very inconvenient. I wound up having to return them due to the pain they caused closing around my lower leg.

It was the wide width, but the seam hit right on one of my bunions. Also, there seemed to be zero 'cushion' underfoot. I am used to Bondi models, which have great bounce.

I should of believed the previous reviews about the top two lacking hooks. The flat laces are difficult to get into the hooks and difficult to remove. It takes me three or four tries to get them in and have them stay. Round laces will not work. It's so bad I'm going to take them to a shoe repair shop to have the hooks replaced with something easier to use.

I want to love these boots. They fit perfectly and stay dry on a wet trail. They are very comfortable. BUT, as they break in, they are losing ankle support. And like many others have found, the lacing system is a real hindrance. 1. Laces don't slide through holes, making that perfect fit elusive. 2. Laces are difficult to feed into top two sets of hooks, but fall out very easily. 3. Boot tongue is short, so after tying laces, they often slide above top of boot, loosen up, and have to be re-tied. 4. Finger pull loop on boot tongue points down, getting in the way of tying laces. Tried to live with the lacing issues, but now that ankle support is failing, I'm done.

The foot part of this boot is fine but the hooks are not easy to use. Each hook has a tiny slit instead of just an open hook. It is impossible to quickly lace boots without looking at your ankles. It is also impossible to lace boots with gloves on. I got them because they felt just as good on my feet as the more expensive model but I would not but then again.
