I havent actually taken these on a good hike yet. They seem a little big as compared with the shoes, however I havent put them on with thicker hiking socks yet....Im pretty sure that will compensate for the e tra room. Otherwise they are the same grest quality and comfort as the shoes are.... All of my friends and relatives have switched to hoka shoes since i got mine. They are pleased as well. I should be making a commission! LOL

I love this design and that it comes in wide sizing. Would absolutely order if it came in black as it does for men.

I wore these last night at an outdoor concert in the rain hoping the Gore-tex claim was accurate. Happy to say my feet stayed comfy and dry for the 4 hours I was out in the rain. I wear these with custom orthotics on hikes also and find them very comfy and supportive. The higher ankle keeps out little sticks and bits of dried leaves from the trail.

I think these run a bit big. I usually wear 9.5 but the 9 wide fit perfectly!

Took a few hikes to get them SUPER comfy. I bought wide to accommodate sock and sock liner for long trek. It works. Also breathes so not too hot.

As a result of hiking for a living for more than 20 years, my feet were abused, tired, and in pain most of the time. Add in a bunion, flattening arches, and the extra bone in one foot, and every pair of sneakers and hiking boots I owned hurt. Every night I had to ice up my feet and rub them for an hour. A friend heard great things about HOKA shoes, so I ordered a pair of sneakers and a pair of Challenger hiking boots. I could instantly feel the difference. No longer am I wincing down the hiking trail! No longer do I need to ice my feet at night! Finally, walking and hiking are enjoyable again, and I have no more pain!! Thank you, HOKA, for somehow understanding my feet.

Very comfy shoe that took a while to break in- maybe five miles, but I really like them. Why are other shoes such bright colors? Birds see colors better than we do, so there should be more brown shoes for nature hiking!

I love these boots BUT the eye hooks are poorly designed - difficult to keep lace in hook while tying boot otherwise a super boot. Really like the light weight! Thanks

Excellent fit, including an insole that meets the arch of my foot. The width is comfortable--I have a good 1/8" to spare--and the toe box is high and roomy. The reviewer who would deny the designer even coal for the placement of the tongue loop is missing its function, which is to keep the laces from riding up and laying against sock or skin (as my Salomans do (grrr)). I must also defend the design of the lace hooks; I'll admit there's a learning curve (of up to a minute) to using them, but surely their ability to hold the laces while I tie them makes up for that micro inconvenience. And about those laces...they're fabulous! They're flat, and grippy, and will absolutely stay tied without double knotting! All that said, I've had them on my feet in the house for a couple hours only, but I knew the second I put my first foot in that I was one of those who say they can be worn on a long hike right out of the box. Yay!
I'd also recommend:

I have a toe issue and a wide foot. This hiking boot is so comfortable even with my tough-to-fit foot situation. I have about 125+ miles in this boot and it still keeps performing. I have hiked in snow and ice and never felt the need to put on Yak Tracks. They have kept my feet dry, warm and toasty. I am still wearing them as we approach warmer weather and they are not too hot yet. I will find out if they feel that way this summer! The top hook is a little weird like other reviewers pointed out. But, don't let that stop you from trying this boot. I highly recommend.

I run in Hoka's Rincon shoes and love them. I was looking for a hiking/work boot and thought I would try Hoka's Challenger. Amazing! No breaking in period. Wore them for over 4hrs on the first day and I was really comfortable. Thank you.

I initially bought a pair of the Hoka hiking boots which I loved but they were too narrow in toe area. I have bunions on both feet but love to hike so I ordered this boot in a wide and they have changed my life! Great boot for hiking and nice and wide.

I love my Hokas. I bought my first pair for work and now I have 3 more to work, workout and run in. I have had a lot of comments on them. Now I have the hiking shoes. So far they are awesome too!

I have a very wide foot and struggle with other shoes during a break in period. These fit perfectly straight out of the box (this never happens to me). So light and comfortable with great support.

My old feet are not comfortable in most shoes. I always replace the original insole with my own store bought cushioned insole. I do have relatively narrow feet, so I'll tighten up the laces on the body a bit next time, but I was hardly aware of them on my first hike. They are light and very comfortable and my feet felt no pain after walking in them for many hours.

I really love these boots. They are everything I love about Hoka- comfortable and supportive for my very picky, painful feet. Really did not require any breaking in. Very comfortable from the get-go. However, as multiple other reviewers have said.. the bootlace hooks are sent from hell. I truly thought people were just being divas about these hooks, but they really are terrible. It takes multiple attempts and an unreasonable amount of time to successfully lace the boots up. They are the only reason I'm writing a review, in hopes that they will be improved on future boots. All in all, they feel so good on my feet that I would still buy again, but for the love..
