After 8 months of walking on mixed hard surfaces and trails, the soles on my M TERRA FI 5 UNIVERSAL sandals have worn down to the footbeds. While I love the style, fit, and comfort, I had hoped to get more wear out of them. I have been wearing Tevas for many years but will be looking for sandals the wear longer.

To much changing the sole design and material surface finishes with the staps barely being long enough for high insteps.. also inconsistent with pull tabs on each strap.

Love the left sandal, but the right one has a small imperfection under the sole, near the seam, which hurts my foot after walking for a bit.

I love everything about this sandal except the lip that goes up in the back. I wore these for a day hiking. Several times a piece of debris got into my sandal, under my foot. With an ordinary sandal, you can tip your toe in air and knock heel on ground and debris will exit, but not with these due to the heel lip. I had to instead lean on someone and take the sandal off. This was a dealbreaker.
Please get rid of that heal lip. Or have a model same as this without it. The lip on the Hurricane XLT2 is fine but I want an extreme hiker and I want the protection strips under all three straps like this model has.

These sandals are not for me, the straps are uncomfortable even wearing them snug or loose.
However, they have good arch support.

I bought these for everything from backpacking, to beach camping, to European tours, as a replacement for another brand that is rugged but less comfortable. I am an 8.5 in almost every shoe brand, ended up having to special order a 7.5 to get a good fit. I've worn the sandals 4-5 times at this point, including a long day in them, and they still feel like they will need a good deal of breaking in. On the 2nd or 3rd wearing I took the dog on a mile long walk and came back with blisters. If I were to buy Teva again I think I would try the Hurricane.

Straps across top of foot should be longer

My old Teva sandals were worn in and around water and were great. These new sandals are no good for getting wet because the sandal where your feet rest becomes very slippery causing your foot to slip and slide making them no good for walking in and out of water and uneven terrain without risking falls.

I really liked the sandals. But after using it 4 times, I noticed a crack in the indented lining of one of the sandals. Contacted customer support and was told it was in warranty and could be exchanged. But my size was no longer available. Since I really liked my design I didn't make the exchange. Disappointed, wish the quality was better.

These are lovely for walking around the city, a farmer's market, walking your dog, going to the beach, etc... But the moment you need to start climbing/descending even a moderate incline, you're gonna wish you had shoes with a little more support.
Also, their straps for size 10 are not properly sized to the shoe. Meant for something smaller. Unfortunately, at size 10.5 the straps become much too large. @Teva get a medium length strap set up.

Shipping and return--great service. Although the footbed is very comfy, and the sandals are easy to get on and off, and they are stylish, the front strap squished my little toe in a way that adjusting the straps couldn't overcome.

Bottom sole/tread not as grippy as my old ones. Would not feel comfortable using for wet adventures anymore.

I live in the mountains and like to walk in my Birks but I often get rocks in them and have to stop so I wanted to try these. I wore them around the house for a few days but the pad at the heel was rubbing so I didn't even bother on a trail and I returned them. They were heavier than I expected a well.

I bought 2 pair of these sandals after I could no longer wear my 2 pair of Toachi 2 sandals because they had worn so badly they hurt my feet, ankles, and knees. Though better than other alternative sandals, I have 3 issues with the Terra Fi 5 Universal sandals:
1. When I bought these they were (and still are?) available in only whole sizes. I wear an 11.5. An 11 is too small, the 12 is too large.
2. The footbed of these sandals is slippery when wet. Not a good thing when you are on a river trip. And not a good thing when the sizing is not a good fit (see above). The Toachi 2 sandal always provided solid and secure footbed.
3. Most important, the absence of a buckle closure for a river sandal is a big problem. Velcro is great if you are in a clean environment. It becomes problematic if you are on a river trip with sand, gravel, and other debris to clog the velcro closure,
Would I buy these sandals again? Only if I had to. I found no better option to replace my Toachi 2 sandals but I am not happy about the downgrade. Bring back the buckle closure and half-size options.

I was a bit worried ordering. I was replacing Teva Terra FI 5's from the 1980's or early 1990s. The originals may have even been made in the USA they were so old. The soles unfortunately separated, and I threw them away. (I wish I had tried SHOE GLUE first) Anyway, I ordered. At first I had the same pain in the side of my little toe just like many other people said. I continued to adjust the straps, back and forth, longer shorter, moving my foot forward and back. I forced myself to wear them and break them in.... and FINALLY -- I found the right spot to have velcro. I now walk the dog a mile or two every day in them, and usually wear them the majority of the day. Hope that helps others. Adjust them A LOT... to see what will finally work for you, and try to break them in. They aren't the TEVAS of the 80's and 90's, but I am satisfied now.

Great quality product as expected from Teva. Traction and comfort of the sole is great however, there is room for improvement on the straps. From my somewhat limited use, they have already wore sores/blisters on my heal and ankle area. I never had this issue with my previous Teva's so I am hoping they break in and get better. They are comfortable initially, but at this point would not wear them for any extended walk what so ever. Hopefully this gets better... Wear size 9.5, purchased 9 and they fit great

Teva sandals are my daily shoe year round and I live in a four season area. Ya, I wear them with socks when it's cold and all the cool people roll their eyes or sometimes even comment on my lack of style. Of course my grown children won't acknowledge me when we're together. This my first pair of Tevas that weren't perfectly comfortable out of the box. Heel cushion is a bit hard, they seemed to soften up after a few miles but time will tell if they actually become my go to pair. I've practically lived in Tevas for almost 20 years.

They were difficult to fit compared to the same, but the old but same model fitted perfectly. I am very disappointed.

I own two pairs of these. They are comfortable for long walks, however very slippery and heavy compared to UNIVERSAL TRAIL SANDAL using Vibram soles. Those are much better and lighter.

I'm as casual as you'll find. Sandals all day every day is my norm. I have several pairs of Tevas, but this one did not meet my comfort needs.

I went with 11, because there is no 10.5, 11 is to big once the sandal gets wet, feet slide to far back with wet straps causing the front to snag easier when hiking.

I would buy again if offered in a wider width, a larger size would likely be too long.

I wanted to like these sandals. However, if you have a foot that is the least bit wide, the areas where the straps emerge from the footbed will be hard and quite uncomfortable.

Walking on wet pavements and footpaths I find the soles to be surprisingly slippery, which is a bit disconcerting. Also very surprising as I imagined these to be designed to be grippy for walking on slippery rocks while doing waterspouts such as rafting, but this is just walking on pavements wet by a shower of rain.
