Shoes are very comfortable. I really like their design and color. The textile mesh on the shoe surface turned out to be very unstable. Holes appeared on it. I tried to sew it up, the textile mesh tearing along the line with the metatarsal flexure. Very unstable product.

Definitely not the feel of a “ true width” as described. Literally knew the moment removed shoes from the box it wouldn’t work. Toe box cramped and narrow. 4E as I ordered? Maybe so but the manufacturer needs quality control measurements improved . The shoe felt as if a Medium. Nice style but bad fit .

The Asics Gel-Sonoma 5 are made out of junk material. The soles completely wore off in 8 months. My other pair of Asics are going on 4 years old and still kicking. If you're looking for a durable sneaker these are not them.

Narrow in the blue and gray and hurt my feet/toes. Returned for brooks Addiction and was very glad I did.

Over the last 2-3 years it seems like Asics shoes are getting less substantial. I had been running roads and trails for over 25 years with Asics. Always felt reliable with all the necessary qualities. They have become less of a shoe whether Sonoma or Gel Venture. This Sonoma 5 was very tight across the front foot (ordering same size I always do). Returned them. The protection on the outer toe is also becoming less substantial covering less of the toe area with tends to wear quickly. With years of experience running in Asics I see that they have become more like designer shoes and less of a running shoe across the versions/styles. "Com' On" Asics!!

Looks great but the design for the padding at the heal is bad.
It's a padded band rather than the full heel and even had raised stitching. Hurt my heal within a mile.

Probably an excellent shoe but size wise the whole range is a mystery.

Too large, too thin and flimsy. Trying to replace Kahana 8, but this isn't it...

I have been wearing many different Asics models for many years - always the same size. This particular model runs smaller than all of the rest. I had to return them.

Have purchased numerous Asics trainers so went for a waterproof and Gore-tex version. However they are a long way from being waterproof. As soon as the grass has started to hold water, my feet, especially the toe area, get soaked. If looking for a waterproof shoe, would try others.

The build quality of Asics is abysmal. Asics used to make the BEST shoes and now they don't last even a half a year. This is the 3rd pair of these shoes I've had. These shoes only last me about 2 months now. After about 2 months of use (walking and running on flat terrain & high humidity = South Louisiana - 3 - 5 hours a week) I get bleeding blisters on my right ankle and heel.
Why have a I wasted my money on these shoes? Well I was a life-long Asics shoe user. They used to make the best shoes. About a year ago, I decided to try out a different brand of shoe for more rugged trail use. Those shoes fell apart quickly and I wanted to move back to shoes that had lasted at least a year for me in the past--re-enter: Asics.
I got the Sonoma 5's with the goal of using these on my hikes and regular exercise. After a few weeks, I started getting blisters on my ankles. I looked at the heal area and found several holes in the padding. So, I bought another pair thinking the holes may have been caused by me basically trying to slip the shoes on rather than untying the laces, putting my foot in and retying them. Second pair of these shoes lasted about 2 months--I quit trying to slip my shoes on and put them on the "correct" way and could not tell a difference in the wear and tear on the shoe. Wound up with the same problem on the same foot! This time I noticed that the blisters were more on the right backside of my ankle (achilles tendon) and for some reason the blisters took a long time to heal.
I ordered my third pair and started wearing those. It's been 2 months and 1 week since I started wearing them and after returning from my exercise today I found my sock was drenched in blood from the blisters--I knew I was in pain but was determined to get my exercise done. Hopefully, I can upload pictures of the problem area in the upper heel of the shoes. At this point, I can't afford to be buying Asics every 2 months or so just so I can get some exercise. Time to leave this brand for good.

The fit of these has changed. Ordered the exact same size as I had a couple years ago, and they're too tight.

I bought this shoe in hopes to gain the comfort of Asics with the benefits of a trail show. Big mistake, 90% of my run is on trail and gravel road. This shoe has terrible sole protection, small stones are felt through the sole. The tread lugs are not tall enough to perform average on a trail, this shoe's traction on trail is mediocre. Next time I will stick with a brand specific to trailing (INOV8). Great shoe for my 10% run on pavement, mediocre for my trail run. 87 Miles on the shoes to date, "stuck" with these until I can justify a new pair. Size 10.5 if your interested in taking these off my hands.

Look great. I'm sure would have worn well but at least 1cm shorter than other shoes the same UK size.

They were great to wear around but fell apart in a little over a month. I didn’t realize Just your average walking would Be enough for these shoes to fall apart.
