I'm a runner on the heavier end and I typically wear two shoes: Kayano and Nimbus.
I'll generally purchase at least one of each every year (since 2008). This years iteration of the Nimbus is the best yet in my opinion. I think that they've finally got the toe-box right, it's not too wide or too narrow.

I'm a casual runner who occasionally participates in 5k and 10k races. I generally run 10 miles per week to stay in shape and I do not train for anything specific other than improving my pace. Since my shoes do not rack up as many miles as some, I have been able to get away with wearing my New York marathon special edition Nimbus 15s for a number of years. These were great shoes in their prime and have served me well. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end and my Nimbus 15s now have a hole in the heel as well as the upper front mesh.
During my replacement research, I came across a number of reviews and opinions stating the last few iterations of the GEL-Nimbus were considered sub-par. I was surprised to see this since I had such good luck with my 15s. My legs are slightly bowed and I have under-pronation so it's important for me to use a neutral shoe with a good amount of cushion in the outside heel where I have heavy strikes and roll off of. The Nimbus lineup was great for this in the past due to the use/placement of gel in the heel.
When I first began my search in December 2019, the Nimbus 22s weren't available at my local store so I primarily focused on the 21s as well as the Brooks Ghost 12s, Adidas Ultraboost 20s, and New Balance 880v9s. Between these models, I was leaning heavily towards the Ghost 12s. They were extremely comfortable and provided a generous amount of cushion in the heel. They also felt more spacious compared to the Nimbus 21s in pretty much every area. I wear a size 10 and my feet are normal width for comparison.
I eventually found another store that carried the Nimbus 22s, and when I put them up against the Ghost 12s, there was a noticeable difference compared to my previous assessment. The 22s were even more comfortable and roomy than the Ghost 12s in my standard size and fit much better than the 21s. Heel height was about the same (I believe 31mm), but the Nimbus 22s provided much more road feel while still maintaining excellent cushioning. The 22s also kept my foot planted in a more neutral position while the Ghost 12s almost accentuated my under-pronation. This was easy to identify just by taking a few laps around the store.
I ultimately purchased the GEL-Nimbus 22s and couldn't be happier. I just got back from my first run and they felt great. No break-in required. These shoes provide the perfect balance of comfort, stability, cushion, and traction. They fit true to size and look great (I went with glacier blue). I can't speak to the previous iterations of this shoe, but this is a huge upgrade for me coming from the GEL-Nimbus 15s. Love them!

Congratulations, I've run about 100 miles in the Nimbus and it's an amazing shoe. Superior cushioning ,flexible ,and the most comfortable upper I've ever experienced. It's a joy to run in, can't wait to try the Nimbus Lite.

this is the best model of the nimbus for me. The above material that is made is super lightweight and breathable. The heel gel creates a bounce effect.
In addition to medium and long runs, the sneaker is also very convenient for condition workouts and running in the gym

I have been running in the Asics Cumulus for at least 10 years. I went away after the Cumulus 18 to Saucony and Mizuno. Then came back for the Cumulus 22. The Cumulus 22 is as good as it gets for me. It's the best for my high arch, durable, and VERY supportive of my heels. Thank you.

The Nimbus 22 offers great cushioning and stability. No matter how you land on your foot they've got you covered. I've used these for several of my longer runs and they always do the job!

I think tyhis is the best Gel Nimbus model yet. I have been using Gel Nimbus since model 11 and the enire design is great. The toe box is back to being generous without having to depend entirely on the stretchy fabric. The engineering of the Gel and the cushioning foam makes the miles go by easily. Keep the advances of this model going fpor the future. Thanks for the great ride.

These are the best version of the nimbus yet! So well cushioned and lighter than ever. For more protection (in cushioning) than Dynaflytes it's not compromising much weight

Just returned Kayano 22 - small toe box and would have to go to size 13 for "proper fit"
Please don't change a thing with the Gel Nimbus 22 - much more arch support than the Gel Nimbus 21. Please add maybe an electric blue, white with accent color & of course black.
Please don't change this shoe next year!

Haven't run long distance in these yet but so far so good. Very comfortable, relatively light for the level of cushioning they provide. Great design!
Concerned that the toe box fabric won't be man enough to stop my big toes poking through for the 400+ miles I'd expect shoes of this price to last for but that's been an issue for every pair of running shoes I've ever owned. Probably my mechanics to blame but still a common issue that could be addressed by manufacturers.

Love how well cushioned these are and yet so light. I've had the nimbus 20 before and they were so much heavier and not even as soft. Going from the Dynaflyte which are super light I'm really happy with the nimbus 22 so far

I shattered my knee in 2007, and I rarely go jogging because there is no shoe that supports my knees like Asics but this is another level! I highly recommend this shoe. Thanks Asics for releasing such a high quality and durable shoe!
