I've had a pair of these shoes since April, so about 8 months. I've out about 600 miles on them, and the show fabric still looks new. These have outlasted my last three pairs of shoes by 200 miles so far. The sole has some wear, but not enough to justify retirement. I am buying another pair just to make sure I am ready for when they finally wear out.

These have to be the best running shoes I have worn/owned. There was not really any adjustment required. They are comfortable while walking and running, and they make running more enjoyable. I have also had no issues at the gym yet but I need to buy weightlifting shoes as I just learned that running shoes in general are bad for weightlifting. The color scheme is also perfect for me, literally my favorite two colors, neon green and black.

Awesome product. I transitioned from a 4mm. I recommend if transitioning to this, you alternate days with your old shoes for a few weeks to get your feet used to the shoe/stride change.

I loved the escalante 2.0 but Altra insisted on ruining them with so called updates. Then they discontinued the Torin 4.5. The Escalante Racer is a great shoe! I am sure Altra will likely ruin it too.

I have worn Altras for 6 years, including three iterations of Escalante, which I loved. Altra made me a believer. Then I ran in the racer, and I swear I'll never run in anything else, unless Altra is foolish enough to mess with the recipe for what they just created. It is the perfect running shoe. I will buy them again and again, even at such an intimidating price tag. Worth every penny.

Crazy light, airy upper, and springy midsole. This is my favorite road running shoe. They really nailed the shape. For anyone coming from minimal shoes like vivobarefoot but wanting a little bit of padding for longer runs these are it.

Light, fast, comfortable. Used these for two straight long run workouts. These will be my marathon race day shoe in November! Don't change these, they're perfect as is.

Have been devoted to Vivobares for 10+ years and just bought my 3rd or 4th Lems. With age? (77) I've wanted a zero d with thicker soles. These Escalantes are perfect first time I stood up in them, love walking in them. Now is first place, tied with Altra Superiors bought five days later!!

One of the best things about these shoes as I use them for court sports. They provide just enough cushioning but lots of foot mobility so you have much better traction.

I have been running and walking in the shoes from the minute I received them. They feel so great I actually look for excuses to wear them. Cannot recommend them highly enough.

This is my first zero drop and Altra brand shoe. They are Fast and Versatile! I did a trail 50K in them after a week of track workouts! In the washer and look brand new! I love the white but will be happy with the black style.

It looks like they stopped offering the white version, which I currently own. I love them because they look slick and go well with everything. Besides that, I've gotten some of my best 5k runs in these shoes. You get to feel the road perfectly while still being extra bouncy. I also own the Escalante, but I find these provide more bounce and feedback.

I've had two pairs of racers so far. Love the feel, flexibility, breathability and energy return. Def rewards good form. Nice wide toe box feels much better than Nikes or Ons I've compared against. Both lasted 650+ miles of 90% asphalt, 10% packed dirt @ 50ish miles/week. That's tread worn down to the foam though... I might have let them go a bit too long. Time to reload!

I needed a new shoe for running around me neighborhood on streets and sidewalks. This shoe is working out better than I expected, or as good as I had hoped from my experiences with the Superior series.
These have just the right amount of cushioning - no bounce, and it doesn't take a toll on my knees or hips which had become a real problem since I've had less and less time to hit the trails. The material is mesh, like very mesh. You can see three the shoe so it's extremely breathable but the material is a little rough on the feet unless you wear socks. Only pointing this out because with other Altra shoes I could go either way but socks are recommended for these!

Love the mesh top and close-to-zero drop. Have already used it for long runs with great results.

Hands down the best shoe I have ever run in. Firm, light and comfortable for the long and short runs. I have literally tried 90% of every major shoe brand out there. The Racer is the only one for me, now.

I switched from Nike renew shoes to these shoes, they haven't haven't caused me any of the joint pain my old shoes gave, I'm fact they made it better and correct my form. They reward good form and speed. Best shoe I've ever bought. Next time I think I'll get 2.5s just for a little more cushion and and durability.

I have no negative comments regarding this shoe. The foot shape toe box is excellent as is the zero drop--both have reduced foot-pain (blisters and achilles tendonitis) associated with running of all distances.

I wore the escalante 1.5s since freshman year of xc, and ran every pair into the ground. Found out they were gonna stop making them, heartbroken, until I realized this was almost the exact same shoe.

I run 4.5 miles 150 times a year. That's my exercise gig. That means I need my Escalante to support me for 675 miles a year. I used the Escalante the last two years (675 miles each pair).
This year I switched to the Escalante Racer. I'm only 10 runs into my year of exercise but so far they are performing great. I love them even better than the first two pairs.
ALTRA, I'll see you next year.
