I normally fit perfectly into Brooks Size 8 shoes, running or trail. This was comfy underfoot with the nice padding, but my foot moved around too much in this shoe and the ankle was not help snugly the way I like it. I ran a technical trail and tripped more that I have in the past. Returned for a different shoe. Thank you Brooks.

I love brooks and this is probably just me... but Unfortunately these shoes kill the sole of my foot. I have hiked and done a few short trail runs and the soles of my feet are aching so bad. I have the Revel 4 road shoe and that was stiff at first and broke in over a few walks but this feels different. Also , even though the shoe is an 8.5, which I always buy and it appears to fit, my foot feels so loose inside when I'm on the trail. So much loose dirt gets inside it also. I just have to return it :/

Very uncomfortable. Toe box appears wide, isn't. Just not a good fit for me. Unfortunately!

I have been a loyal Brooks Caldera trail runner since the first model was released and since then I have run thousands of miles through 9 pairs. I am so incredibly disappointed in the Caldera 4. These shoes are wide, the sole didn't even last 200 miles. There is something not right with the fit as I ended up with blisters and pain from pronation which I never had in the previous 3 versions. The sole is huge like a HOKA and it hangs over the sole of the shoe which seems very odd. I really wish you wouldn't mess with a shoe that had 4.5-5 stars for years. I have been able to get ahold of 2 pairs of the Caldera 3 for use in the coming months, but don't know what I will do after they wear out because I can't do this new version.

These SQUEEK! I'm stepping on cute little mice with Every. Single. Step. Sigh....back they go...
I'm sticking with my Hokas. Those have tons of cushion and support, and they don't squeek.
Thanks Zappos for staying awesome!

I loved the Caldera 2. It was the first running shoe where I wasn't getting blisters from a too-wide heel or a too-narrow toe box, and the first shoe that allowed me to finally hike and backpack for many, many miles without any pain or discomfort from the shoes I was wearing. I wore those into the ground, so I recently bought this one. Most of the things I loved about the Caldera 2 are absent in this shoe. The toe box in the 4 feels much, MUCH smaller than the one in the 2. While in the 2 my toes had ample room to breathe, in the 4 my toes are crushed up against the "inside" side of the shoe. Something about the way it makes my feet land is completely different as well. There seems to be a lot less support on the "inside" side of the shoe, and I often find myself trying to walk on the outside of my feet, because my foot is basically jutting out on the "inside" side when I don't. I've been trying to break these in but I have to stop trying because by the mid to end of all my hikes my feet end up hurting, and I often have to cut my hikes short. I'm very disappointed because Brooks is one of the only shoemakers that makes quality shoes that both have an incredible amount of cushion as well as (usually) a wide toe box, (as well as a more narrow heel, hello women's feet), so this was a huge miss for me, and I'm really desperately hoping that they don't continue down this more 'narrower toe-box' road.
Dissappointed,
