New model has smaller toe box, overall shoe is tighter, and rear has stitching now that rub on your Achilles tendon which wasn't there before. Took a super comfortable shoe and made it very uncomfortable. Great job!

I am very sad to write this review. Brook's Beasts have been the Gold Standard for so many years in the running field. I have been a faithful wearer since 2003! However, the 20's are incredibly cheaply made and very indurable. I have purchased two pair over the last two years. Each pair have split on the top above the right big toe (Both of them). I hope that Brooks start to take pride in their Brand again and will make these shoes the Best again instead of worrying about how much profit they can make.

They fit very well for my foot. I don't like a very high arch and it was just right. They're very comfortable shoes with good footbed cushioning. Great looking shoes for day to day use, but I'll be using them for jogging only so appearance doesn't matter. very pleased with them. As usual, Zappos customer service was great.

I am devastated!!! WHAT A SHAME!!!! I have worn the BROOKS BEAST exclusively for nearly 20 years!!! And that was PURCHASING 3-4 pairs of Brooks Beast EVERY YEAR for nearly 20 yrs! It was THE ONLY SHOE I could wear. I am in stage 4 of PTTD - Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction - a very debilitating disease - where my bones in arches never developed and my tendons ruptured and I had a total midfoot collapse in each foot. Fallen arches in each foot. The Brooks Beast were THE ONLY SHOE that saved my mobility. I was devastated to find out when I received my new pair of Beasts that Brooks had CHANGED the ONLY SHOE that I could walk in! Everything that was SO AWESOME about Brooks Beast is GONE! They NO LONGER have the unbelievable ARCH SUPPORT that they used to have! My feet now turn in and collapse in these new Beasts! I cant believe Brooks took all the ARCH SUPPORT out of this shoe! I have ruptured posterior tibial tendons in BOTH FEET and those Beasts were like braces holding my fallen arches up! It was nothing short of miraculous - I tried every other running shoe out there and the Beasts were a miracle for me! I was able to stop wearing braces after 5 yrs once I went into Brooks Beasts. I have cried and cried not having any shoes that hold my fallen arches up now. I am only able to leave the house about 1x per week now. I really think the Brooks Company is MISSING this whole segment of society who wore those BEAST SHOES NOT FOR RUNNING PURPOSES- BUT FOR THEIR ONLY SOURCE OF MOBILITY! Brooks Beasts have been the Go-To Shoe referred by ORTHOPEDIC DOCTORS - Surgeons - Orthotists - Podiatrists - Orthopedic Techs - Physical Therapists! I am BEGGING YOU BROOKS CO - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring back the ORIGINAL DESIGN OF YOUR BEAST SHOES - NOT for Runners - but for those of us who have been LOYAL CONSUMERS of your Brooks Beast for our orthopedic problems - our foot deformities - our ONLY source of MOBILITY!!!! I will do an ad for you of the MIRACULOUS MOBILITY your ORIGINAL BROOKS BEAST shoes have given me and countless others! Look at the reviews everywhere - I am NOT the ONLY ONE who DEPENDED on those shoes foe our mobility. I will do whatever I can for your company if you would just bring the ORIGINAL BEAST BACK! I'm telling you - you are MISSING a HUGE segment of clients who were DEPENDANT on those shoes! I will be a Sales Rep for your Company to personally visit ORTHO DRS and CLINICS and HOSPITALS w/the great results of restored mobility in those Brooks Beast shoes. Another concept for your Co is calling it an orthopedic walking shoe for those w/arch disorders. Create them in Solid colors of BLACK- BROWN - WHITE - GREY - MAROON for professionals to wear to work! I am a REALTOR and had to wear them w/my suits and skirts! So solid colors for professionals would open up another avenue for sales. I know an attorney who also wore them. and a female Judge who wore them under her robe. Solid classic colors are NEEDED for those of us in professional jobs - NOT JUST RUNNERS! PLEASE contact me - I have so many ideas for you to expand sales in this area! I am heartsick I can no longer work in my profession w/little mobility now. Please help your FAITHFUL CUSTOMERS - there are soooo many of us in this situation- bring back the ORIGINAL DESIGN of the BROOKS BEAST! Will be forever grateful!!!

Are there any plans to return to making returning to better quality shoes? Both my wife and I have worn brooks shoes for over a decade. The last few years have seen design and material changes to lower quality, reducing support, comfortand overall durability. I am finding another brand this time around and my wife is extremely disappointed in her latest pair. Might want to reconsider returning to making a better shoe, you are losing customers with every lower quality pair you sell! It WAS my go to shoe for home and work with a pair for each.

The 18 was a great shoe bought many pairs and was extremely happy with them The new 20 is poorly constructed and cheaper material reducing the support the 18 had Hopefully Brooks will learn from reviews and go back to what works to sell shoes to consumers I would love to purchase the 18 design and quality

The sneakers would’ve been good if they weren’t sent to me already worn so which means they were misfit because they were all stretched out there were no tags there was no paper in them the laces world on Schroon so now I I am not happy with Zappos at all as far as them sending me somebody else’s shoes or shoes that have been try it on and try it on and try it on there was a waste of my time is wasted their time

Agree with many others. These are cheap and flimsy shoes and are nothing like the old beast. I'm looking for a new beast.

The shoes felt good but when I wore it and walked with it, the right front forward side where my large toe is was tight and it injured my toe due to the nail being pressed into the flesh. This needed a mini medical procedure to remove the nail. I have not used the shoe more than twice!!

Beware - the Brooks shoes that I've purchased are not the quality product they used to be. Over the past five or six years I've exclusively worn the Addiction Walker, a great supportive shoe. I purchased a pair early this year and was extremely disappointed, they were terrible quality, not supportive. I switched to the Beast 20 hoping that a more expensive shoe would be supportive etc. I've had them a few weeks and I'm sad to report they are horrible, not supportive at all. What has happened to Brooks? Looking for a quality shoe to purchase, any ideas?

The quality compared to the last Brooks Beast has nose dived with this pair. It also fit so much bigger that I can't even use them.

I have purchased The Beast loyally for over fifteen years. Every year the design looks uglier, every year the craftsmanship gets less and less, and the durability and quality of the shoe plummets. And every time I purchase it I think, "Well, they seem to be the best shoe out there, so I'll buy them even thought they look worse every year." Not any more. I am done with this shoe. Less than five months old and the sides of the soles are shredding and there are holes starting in the fabric of the foot opening. And the stability and support I remember long ago is nowhere near what it used to be. And to be clear, all I do is walk in these shoes. I am NOT a runner. So, to wrap this up, I will never buy this shoe again. The Beast '20 is a mere shadow of former Beasts of long ago.

It would be nice to have some actual shoe lace for tying my shoes. Does this company give the same shoe lace length regardless of size? By the time I'm done loosening my shoes up to properly fit my foot, I don't have enough length to tie my shoes. Maybe consider making the laces longer in general, or for the extra side sizes? I think its time I start looking around elsewhere for proper extra wide shoes.

The Beast 20 does not provide the support that previous models were known for. I first started wearing the Beast after a recommendation by a doctor to help with a neuroma problem in the bottom of my foot. I eventually had surgery to help with the problem. Although the surgery did help, the Beast was the only shoe that I could walk and hike in comfortably. Although the previous model Beasts helped with my foot issue, they did over correct for pronation, but I put up with that issue because of the other benefits I received from the overall support of the shoe. I had read many other comments complaining about the Beast 20 lack of support and cheap feeling compared to previous models. The response often provided is that the shoe now uses guide rails to provide support instead of the under arch roll bar. I actually prefer the guide rails however, I think you are missing the point of these comments. The Beast 18 has support structure built throughout the shoe. There is plastic support web/structure built throughout the shoe as well as a supportive toe that together provides the foot a cradle of protection which also contributes to the cushioning under foot. The Beast 20 is like a sock stuck on a flat sole which provides little to no support for the foot and even detracts from the cushioning that I benefited from. In addition, the structure under the ball of the foot as well as the lack of arch support does not provide the cushioning of previous models. The Beast is now a light weight shoe not much different than many of the other Brooks running shoes. Please bring back the features of the older model Beasts (stick with the roll bars) in the next version to provide the cushioning and support many of us previously enjoyed.

I have 5 pairs of Brooks shoes that are size 12 that fit well. These shoes are sized 12 much larger than what I need do not fit well. I wanted to return them but I miss placed the receipt and you will not except them without the receipt. Not happy will not recommend your company for on line purchase. I had plan to buy more as some of my other shoes are older.

I use the shoes for walking at the suggestion of my orthopedist, starting with the Beast 16 and 18, size 12 D. They fit like a glove. I ordered the Beast 20, 12D, online because I wanted a certain color, which was not available in New York City. They were too tight. I ordered the 12.5D, too big, and the shoe is of a lesser quality than either the 16 or 18

I am not a runner at 82 years and 250#. This model used to have great support and higher arch that shifted weight to outside. This current model is much lighter and devoid of desired support. Sent it back

Although I appreciate the thoughtful change in making this latest Beast version lighter, the shoes have become less solid and more unstable. The "guardrails" do little, if anything, to add stability. Just a bad idea. The front part of the heel seems considerably thinner than older versions (I did a hands and feet comparison two older pairs). Also, the style of the shoe is extremely bland in comparison with past styles. Sadly, I've returned to wearing my old, worn-down Beast shoes in lieu of the new pair and will now shop for different brand. Goodbye Brooks.
