Great shoe for walking. Light weight. My feet don't hurt. My legs feel great after the run. they are better than the Beast '18.

Been the NIke, New Balance, etc. route (my foot doctor said they were 20 year old technology).
The Beast came highly recommended from him and it is the absolute best shoe/running shoe i have ever worn - from comfort to support.

This is my third purchase of the Brooks Beast line. I'm a big guy, 6'-0", 350+. Years ago I didn't realize how the wrong shoe could actually cause you injuries. That's when I finally went to a running store and had them analyze my gate and posture and help me find the right shoe. The support that the Brooks Beast lineage of shoes has provided me has been outstanding and has made me a return customer every time I need a new running shoe. The Brooks Beast '20 has been a great shoe so far and looks even better than previous versions.

My husband has flexible flat feet, and he has had the hardest time finding comfortable running shoes, that is until we found Brooks! Every time he puts the Beasts on, he raves about their comfort and support for his flat feet. He walks/runs 5+ miles with no problem at all. Kudos to Brooks, for their quality, comfort, and support!

Brooks Beast Runner for over 25 years. I've put 50 miles on the new 2020 and struggle with the fit, feel, support, and trying to rationalize the performance. For a quick Con/Pro here then a more detailed subjective analysis below. CONS: 1, Mesh is super lose on top of foot allowing feet to slide between rails on slopes causing skin irritation on bottom of my right big toe area. 2, the laces are longer than needed, feel light in construction. 3, Feels like all the support has gone away. The arch support from older models are gone and the rails do nothing to make-up for the difference. I've had planter fasciitis in the past and my left foot feels painful like cramps during a portion of each run. 4. I run size 8.5 and an 8 if shoe is on sale. The Brooks site said the run big so I got my usual 8.5. The fit seems HUGE with the mesh because there is no support over the entire foot with even pressure. To compensate, I tighten the laces and it causes uneven pressure distribution over the foot. 6. Price, seriously too much for a shoe that may not last as long and is completely different. (Side note: I'm broke, I usually buy older models to save money but I'm 56 years old and run a pace of 7:30 miles while training. I've always suffered injuries when switching away from the Beast and use a "NEUTRAL" model (Shin splints, planters, knee, hamstring). The BROOKS buying guide and RunnersWorld examination all say I need a Neutral shoe but I have found with the Beast I never get these injuries. That being said, because of the change in the 2020 I was excited to try another brand but wanted to give Brooks Beast a chance. Pros: 1. The weight and materials are lighter, may not last as long, but breath more, and feel better on longer runs (8 miles+). 2. Reputation of having the Beast be the most prescribed shoe by doctors for those that have feet/leg pain. 3. Ummm.... Hopefully after the additional 30 miles I put on this week I may find one more. In Summary, I hate the change, maybe they should have renamed it and kept the original arch and foot supporting system. Is it possible that having my foot feel like it flops around the inside be a good thing for long distance running? Hard to say, is my left foot pain happening because it's adjusting and it will get better? Should it feel like I'm standing between two rolled up socks on each side of my foot with uneven support pressure from the upper? So confusing.... I may need to buy five pairs of the 2018 to last for the rest of my running carrier or I may get lucky and find a better alternative from another brand....

I am so happy with my new brooks. They are comfortable and give my feet the support they need for jogging. My order did not take long to receive which surprised me with the covid crisis. Thank you brooks !

If you liked the beast because of its high level of support , this new version does not provide it. The company should bring back Extended Progressive Diagonal Rollbar to the beast

I've been wearing Beasts for nearly 10 years so I've seen a lot of iterations. This is the best upgrade yet, in my experience. I went from the Beast 18 to Beast 20. Specifically the shoe is considerably lighter, which make it much better for running. I have major over-pronation and wear a custom orthotic. So I have no choice but to go for max stability in a running shoe, and the Beasts do they job. However prior versions have felt heavy and clunky. This version has all the breadth and stability I need but also feels more energetic/lighter to run in. I bought the size 9D (normal width) in black with white sole. The styling is way better than the 18 and although it's not the prettiest shoe at least it doesn't look like a grandad shoe anymore. It actually looks much cooler in reality than the photos online suggest which was a nice surprise. My ONLY suggestion for improvement... my custom orthotics squeak like crazy. I have to put tissue in to stop it. I think there's a real opportunity for Brooks to design a base (under the provided insole) that has texture so it doesn't squeak for people who use custom orthotics.

Feels different than Beast 18. I've been running on Beasts for over 16 years and the Beast 20 is still a good shoe, but I'm giving it 3 stars because it feels noticeably different that the earlier Beast in that it feels noticeably less "cushiony" than the Beast 18. I can put my old 18's on and feel it side-by-side..it feels like there is less cushion and that the cushioning used is stiffer. Feels like it took one step toward being a "connect" shoe. The Beast 20 is noticeably lighter than the 18 and the fit is still consistent with earlier Beasts, but I'm disappointing in that I don't feel the same running on soft clouds feel I was use to and expecting.

I've been wearing Brooks Beast and Brooks Addiction Walker shoes for over 10 years. Purchasing has always been a no brainer exercise...I pick the color and size and the shoes arrive and fit without difficulty. Now, however, I've tried almost a dozen different Brooks shoes and none are comfortable. I've compared the new shoes with my older ones and it appears that Brooks has narrowed the toebox. So, after all these years I need to find a new manufacturer.

even going from size 15 which is normal and have worn the Beast since the late 90s because they were great shoes and originally fairly priced. Now they have tripled in price, and the 20 is horrible compared to the 18 series. I walk up to 10 miles in 5 hours at work, Just tried the 20 series and took a nice walk about 2.5 miles and started feeling tension in my heel, the toe room vertically for the big toes was very shallow. After I got home and sat for a few minuets my arch still hurts. I was thinking that with it being a full size larger then normal that there would be greater toe toe space but it really didnt seem like much. Having size 15 4E sucks and also a heavy person. Also having to replace shoes every 3 months has gotten really expensive. Let me know where I can get 18's and I will probably be a happy camper again??????????

I have been wearing the Beast for several years. This model is better than the 19 and I do like the guiderails. I do think the upper/toe box still feels flimsier than pre-19 models... Still love the Beast though...

Not the Beast of old. I bought another pair of the Beasts, as it has been my go-to shoe for both running and walking. Being a larger guy, over 250, this has ALWAYS been been my go to shoe, providing support, cushioning and stability. If you’re someone who is still looking for all of that, and are larger, look elsewhere. The Beast is no longer “it.” They have taken cushioning to an extreme in the heel, making it so mushy there isn’t a lot of stability. Can a shoe have too much cushioning? Yes if you’re larger it feels like you’re running on unstable soft ground. They cheapened the shoe everywhere else as well. Style? What style? The shoes were getting more and more ugly, until they came out with these, the worst they’ve EVER done. What in the heck happened to Brooks? For $160, I will look elsewhere. Fortunately I found some old ones at an out town shoe store and bought their stock. But I think when the old ones die, I’m done with Brooks Beast. A shame, they used to be great shoes for larger people.

Light, excellent running shoes. Make a high or mid top version! I usually lace it all the way up for ankle stability. I wear 13 wide this looks normal and cool, not like a boat. I usually run these on the street and use the cascade on the trail. I also wear these at work all the time. I buy 2 or 3 about twice a year for the past 3 years. Grey is better looking than black. Make a light blue and light green color please!
