I went through 2 pair of the 18's and loved them! I wore them for everyday shoes since I have suffer from tendonitis in my ankle, I use the Portalus foot beds for extra arch support since my feet are a disaster. I originally passed on the 20's since I didn't like the look of the super white lower half on the black shoes. Well I tried a different shoe company and regretted it almost immediately. I broke down and bought the black 20's and am beyond happy with them, again with the Protalus foot beds. The Beast with those foot beds keep my feet and ankles happy, I just ignore the white sidewalls.

I understand some of the concerns expressed with the changes to the Beast; my first 100 miles on the Beast 20 is clearly different than the 18. It feels softer and lighter which concerned me because I pronate but so far, it has held its shape and actually feels good. I'll withhold final judgment for 500 miles.

I have ran in Brooks shoes for many years now. I also recommend Brooks for everyone. However, I found the BEAST too heavy, very stiff and not very comfortable. I run 5-6 miles a day and have not been able to get these BEASTS broken in and I have gone back to my ASICS until I find the right Brooks for me

Hello! I am elderly & have purchased Brooks shoes for about 15 yrs!! I use Brooks for walking only.
Brooks has lost me now, as you no longer offer Aerial sub-brand.
Plus, since made in China, Brooks have lower all around quality!
I have returned the Brooks Beast 20 as those supposedly with "side rails" are suppose to be more supportive. NOT!!! The toe box has decreased (lower) & the ankle back is not sturdy as foot enters. It collapses!!!
immediately! I've always worn appox.12-13 sz shoe.
So sorry you've lost another good customer. Please do not send me an automated reply. I just request your company to actually READ this comments
& bring back, stock, your older model shoes so we can order!! Even the discount houses don't have the 18, 20 etc. Thank you!!!!!

Fit great, unfortunately the tip of the sole has already come off and started tearing away from the shoe.

I have purchased five pair of the Brooks Beast in the past four years at $ 160 apiece. This most recent version design is ok, but a drop off from the 2019 and 2018 versions. They feel pretty good all and all. I am disappointed though by the quality of the fabric of my two most recent purchases. After 4 or 5 months, the front top area of the sneaker starts to fray and show distinct wear and ripping which looks bad and makes them unwearable after a time other than for working in the yard and such. I would typically use my sneakers for general walking and as a casual dress sneaker but cannot do so anymore because of this fraying condition. I am not inclined to purchase this shoe again at this time. Thank you.

They are nice but not as good as the old beast 18 use to be. They are not as sturdy and this is especially noticeable in the heel. It wants to fold in on itself when you put the shoe on if you don't put 2 finger in the back to support it. I've had these shoes for almost 3 month and they are starting to break down some my old ones would last me a good year.
For someone who has terrible feet and has to wear a men's extra wide cause women's extra wide is still to narrow it's just frustrating.

I don't like them nearly as much as the Beast 18. The back over the ankle is weak. I especially don't care for the white sole. The get dirty too easily. Previous versions of the Beast have been awesome for me. One of the best shoes I have ever had. I still have 2 pairs of the Beast 18 that are my favorite.

Felt very good at first, I have plantar fasciitis and they have great support without my custom orthotics however over time they gave me shin splints and sore knees. They seem to be over padded and I am not a runner, might be good for some but they hurt my knees.

The Beast 20 has pulled the teeth out of the Beast 18 and Beast 16. There is no longer overall foot support in the sidewalls and less ankle support in the upper heal section. The canvass upper just gives no support. I have ankle issues and this version of the Beast just provides little to no support for it. Previous versions felt like slipping into a snug glove with great support (sitting, walking, etc.). Now it is reduced to just a great base with lots of cushion (thus the generous 3 star rating). And the flimsy shoe strings are extremely disappointing. The Beast 18 came with great easy to tie heavy gauge strings. The new flimsy strings keep slipping out of the fingers when you try to tie them.

This model seems to have a shorter lifespan before breaking down support-wise. I've been running exclusively (and happily injury-free) in Brooks Beast for over 10 years, replacing them every 400-500 miles. I'm now on my second set of the 2020 model; by 200-300 miles they're not holding up. As usual, the shoe is comfortable (as long as it lasts), and the toe-box is perfect... but I've come to expect more miles for the shoe than I've gotten from the last two pair.

somewhat disappointed in this version. I've been getting the "beast" for several years, as they're best for helping my planar fascitis. But, the "beast 20" seems smaller than normal (i have a 11.5 wide)--the beast has always fits well, but this time it is a bit tight. Finally, it "squeeks" a lot when walking!
Also, i've noted that all previous versions of the "beast" tend to end up with a big toe hole after a while...not sure how this one will prevail!

I've worn the Beast for over 10 years and I appreciate the support of the shoe...I'm not a runner and need good support to my feet.
In my opinion the Beast 20 is a lighter shoe and does not provide the base support of prior versions...may work for athlete's. Looking for a firmer base.

Three stars ... would have been five stars if Brooks would have carried over Black/Grey color scheme from Beast '18

Not liking the new trend in Brooks where the shoes are being Made of mostly seamless fabric. There is increasingly less forefoot stability. The new Beast 20 is much lighter and almost feels cheap. I have several pair of Beast models and the latest definitely offers less support. I have had mine for 3 weeks and I am contemplating putting my custom orthotics in to give more stability. As a physical therapist I frequently change my patients' shoes for many different ailments. For motion control shoes the Beast has always been my first choice personally and for my patients. With this new version I believe they have fallen back to the pack.

Point blank - not as good as the Beast 18's. I have owned 3 pair of the 18's in the past 1 1/2 years and was no longer able to get them so I had to move up to the Beast 20. These fit more like the Addiction 14 that I also have, which don't provide as much support as the Beast. The Beast 20 is narrower than the Beast 18 and my foot actually extends over the inside part of the shoe and causes quite a bit of discomfort. I'm not sure what to do. Not sure if a wide fit would fix the problem or not but it's a lot of money to spend to get a new pair. The Beast 20 also seems to be lacking the Beast max support. Like stated earlier, the Beast 20 fits and feels more like the Addiction and I am not a huge fan of the change.

Bottom line, as said by many others, the design is different. The Smart Support hurts my feet. After wearing 10.5 4E for over a decade I cannot find a size in Beast, Addiction, or Dyad the fit without pain on the inside heal as well as the arch of the shoe hits too far back in my arch. I tried 10.5 4e, 11 2E and 4e, and 11.5 2E. The only style that is close to comfortable is Dyad 11.5 2e, maybe. I have an inch and a half of space in front of my toes.
Maybe I'll try the Beast 23, but I'll probably be ordering and returning again, so I'll wait. Or, maybe I can find a pair of used previous version in great shape.

Have been a Brooks fan for many years due to severe overpronation. This version is a cheapened attempt to replace previous excellent iterations. Shame on Brooks. Charge more if needed, don’t compromise your quality.

Not at all like previous beasts. Poorer quality, less comfort while still at beast prices. Doesn't feel like they will endure.

The shoe never would lace properly: always to narrow (at 2E). It was comfortable and I wanted it too work. Called Brooks twice for help.
I walk on outside of my heels so Beast was only choice

I am not pleased with the Beast 20 at all! I have been wearing Beasts for at least couple of years now, and was so happy with the fit and support. I had previously worn Addiction, and was pleased, but always had to use an orthotic insole. With the previous Beasts, I was able to wear straight from the box--no orthotic insole needed. The Beast 20 feels less supportive. I've thought of trying to wear with an orthotic insole, but I think I will return instead. For the price, I am simply disappointed.
