The marketing for the Max Cushioning line is really mixed. It's not clear if it is targeting the casual, walking, and/or the running crowds (or somehow all three simultaneously). As I was looking for a serious, pure running shoe, my expectations were not very high. After about 40 running miles on these shoes, I'm happy to report these are great running shoes! First, Skechers is not joking when they say these are max cushioned. The sole is massive. The ride feels very firm initially, but has softened up noticeably. Tons of cushioning is very important to me since I've had more than a few injuries over the years. These shoes definitely check that box. Do note that you won't find these to be highly responsive or bouncy. This is a true neutral shoe. There is minor arch support, but no other motion control features. The upper is comfortable. It's not as plush as some higher end shoes. You don't notice it, which is a what you want in a running shoe upper.
There are some things that could be better:
-- It is heavy! Ultra Go lacks the lightweight, responsive characteristics seen in the Ultra Flight or Hyper Burst materials. It's total old-school, no frills ample cushioning. It would be great to have a performance version of this shoe available with something similiar to the Ultra Flight sole from the Max Road 3. That would be an incredible combo!
-- Sizing is difficult. I wore size 12, Medium in Max Road 3 and those fit perfectly. Size 12, Medium in these were way too narrow. I had to size up to the Wide Fit and those are a little too wide. It would be nice to have these available in Relaxed Fit (2E) width. Its a big gap between normal and wide-fit widths in the Skechers world.
Overall, I'm really enjoying these shoes. I've tried almost all of the max cushioning shoes on the market and these are my favorites. For the price, they have to be considered a great value. These outperform other max cushioners that cost twice as much.

I feel that they need a little more cushion in the heel area. Was not as thick or giving some as was described to me on the phone. Was told the sole was compareable to that of the shape ups.....

Can't wear for work. They feel squishy and throw my balance off. Going to return them.

I bought these shoes because very few of the styles that Sketchers offers that I like, come in wide widths.

My son is 10 and likes the comfort/cushion and width of this shoe. My issue is with the cushion and soles, they wear out too fast because there is no rubber on the majority of the sole. This is his second pair and the first wore out and lost support within 2 months of daily use. The price point should allow for a longer life of the cushion and sole.

I got this shoe for walking...too much cushion for walking though! Looks nice and wears well so I'll keep them.

Max Cushioning is a little deceptive. It's not a bad shoe, comparable to a $40 pair of Adidas.

Shoes are fine for the first 3 hrs after that it's straight concrete city. There needs to be more cushion in the shoe. Making the sole thicker doesn't exactly do it. Add thick cushion to all shoes we will solve 90 % of all foot problems.

I'm so disappointed. The width is perfect, the shoe has the right stability for my needs, and overall would be a great shoe...IF I could remove the insole and use the custom insoles my podiatrist says I need and which I've used the past several years. Every other shoe I've purchased has removable insoles. Unfortunately, the brand I have been wearing eliminated the style that fit correctly and the style that replaced it isn't as wide and hurts my feet. I am on the hunt for a brand I can love and be loyal to. But I need to use my custom inserts. I'm not happy.

I wear these shoes all day, everyday. These shoes are really comfortable but the tread on the bottom wears out too quickly.

The walking on a cloud comfort initial experience wears out very quickly. My old pair of Skechers lasted about a year, this new pair doesn't hold up wearing them all day every day on hard surfaces at work.

Great shoe for casual wear but it is not a good shoe for exercise walking. After about two weeks (3 miles a day) the shoes were done, and the plantar fasciitis returned.

Nice shoes but the shoe laces are too small unless you are a size or two smaller and like bulky shoes around your feet. needs a minimum 2-3 inches extra.
