I have never been more satisfied with a backpack in my life. Not only does it hile more than my previous bag, and in a more organized and convenient way, it somehow still feels lighter on my back despite the extra supplies. I will definitely consider buying again in the future should the need ever arise. 10/10

I bought this backpack in 2017 before heading off to college and five years later there is not a scratch, tear, blemish, or broken zipper to be found. I have taken this backpack everywhere for 5 years now- work, school, travel, parties, camping, climbing, you name it I've tested it. The quality is so well built there is not a doubt in my mind that my kids will use this backpack some day. My one and only complaint is the lack of an external water bottle holder.

This bag is awesome- perfect size, awesome organization in a way that isn't intrusive, and classic looks. Mystery Ranch really knocked it out of the park.

This bag is the best for keeping your Laptop safe. Also, the storage is surprisingly more than I needed.

I've carried the UA 21 for the last few years and always wondered if the dedicated laptop compartment and exterior water bottle sleeves were worth it... so I finally got off my butt and made the jump. The bag is as well made as everything that Mystery Ranch makes and you cannot argue with the quality or design. Let me point out a few differences in the 21 and 24 that surprised me for anyone that may be in the same boat as I was. The interior mesh zipper pockets on the 21 run the full length of the side "flap" and are actually a bit bigger than the 24. This is because the 24 also includes two vertical sleeves (no closure on top) that eat into the mesh zipper pockets room. Not a huge difference, but if you had things you were used to storing in those pockets on the 21, they may not fit in the same place on the 24. Second, there is no keychain dongle/keeper in the top pouch on the 24... This one was actually a little disappointing. I keep all my shop keys in that pouch as I only use them once a day and don't want them in my pocket all day long. I kinda have to dig for them now, which I realize is very much a "first world problem" but that may be the only thing I miss about my 21. Lastly, there are no webbing loops on the bottom of the 24 pack. If you were used to lashing something onto the bottom of the 21 for travel or day hikes, you'll need to come up with another method. All in all, the 24 is a great pack but there are a few differences that I was not expecting having gotten so used to the 21 for the last few years. The extra organization and size are exactly what I wanted, just hoping to help anyone that is on the fence about upgrading to the bigger pack.

The purposeful functionality and design behind this bag was certainly not an afterthought. I love that it has a separate pouch specifically for your laptop. I'm able to fit my personal and work laptop along with an iPad in that pouch.

I bought the 24L to upgrade myself from the 21, and I use it for my every day bag taking me from the gym to work to home. I'm loving the separate organization and access for my laptop and other tech bits, and the added volume, internal organization, and water bottle pockets are even better than I expected. I've used it daily for about a month and would definitely recommend.

Recently retired my daily backpack and was happy to give this bag a shot. So far it's been fantastic. The 24 is a perfect daily bag for me, not too small and holds everything I need, not too big an unnecessary. No problems with the exterior water bottle pockets, fits my bottles great. One thing I will share, I really like the waxed canvas material, but it doesn't show up as waxed as I prefer. I spent the time and energy and waxed it myself with an old can of Barbour coat wax and it came out great. It's a lot of work, but if you're up for it I think it's totally worth it. I've been nothing but happy with Mystery Ranch. Their hunting and firefighting gear is worth every penny. This backpack will see years of use.

The build quality of the backpack is fantastic. Purchased with full knowledge of other reviewers' statements regarding its tendency to fall forward when placed upright on the floor. Something I hadn't wrapped my head around was how much reduction of interior volume is experienced when the outer pockets are used for water bottles or travel mugs. I found it manageable once I got my head wrapped around it, but it's my assessment that you'd be hard pressed to fit much else in the main compartment of the bag if you've got, for example, a water bottle and coffee mug in the exterior pockets, and a wind shirt / rain jacket stored in one of the interior pockets. Having come to terms with "how volume works," I've been able to make changes to my go-to-work carry plan to account for this. It's a great bag, and I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. However, I'd be lying if I said I didn't find myself wondering if the 2-day assault pack, with its more robust exterior bottle storage, wouldn't have been the better fit for me.

Title says it all. Solidly built. I have not been afraid to put this through some fairly extreme situations and it has held up very well. Great bag that I have already recommended to coworkers who have complimented me on it. Highly recommend a Hero Clip or something to help make the bag more usable in an office environment.

Love this backpack! I got to discover Mystery Ranch not too long ago and I love the unique design of their back pack. I used a Patagonia for work and I just got it replaced with this one and I love it!

After burning through some cheap backpacks that broke quickly, I was immediately impressed by the quality of MR's Urban Assault. It my new go-to backpack.

Like everything by MR and DD before, this piece is well thought out and expertly built. It offers protection for a 15" laptop, clean, snag-free outside lines, plenty of internal organization and quality materials. I bought the grey because it blends in well, it's a very low profile bag.

Just purchased and notices a fairly thick piece of foam between the laptop compartment and main pack area which does indeed protect a laptop if, for example, the main pack were filled with full mags or canned food. But, I need every cubic inch I can get. So, if you reach down to the bottom of the laptop compartment, you can feel a velcro flap opening to the foam pad between the laptop compartment and main bag area. BE ADVISE, if you remove the foam bad, it will be VERY difficult to get it back in but you will gain about 24 cu. in (.4L) of volume. cheers and thank you MR for giving us the option!

I was very happy to see Mystery Ranch release the Urban Assault 24. I had thought about getting the Urban Assault 21, but it lacked certain features I feel necessary in a bag (no bottle pockets, lack of organization), and it was just too small. Though the Urban Assault 24 is smaller than I thought it would be, it still has enough room for daily essentials, plus an extra layer for colder seasons. Now, I'm happier with it being slightly smaller, than say the 27 liter 2 Day Assault, as it is easy to maneuver through crowded environments without being cumbersome or drawing attention. I've received more than a few compliments on it from some discerning co-workers and friends. I would love to see MR design a scaled up version of this for carry-on travel use- say 40 liter capacity with side compression straps.

I bought the UA24 to replace Daily Daily was MR's rather forgotten vanilla admin pack which served me well but started to show age. MR gave UA21 a well deserve facelift and added many features that I personally wanted to see on UA (bravo to MR)bottle pockets outside, designated laptop pocket with quick access (laptop would sit in suspended pocket, won't touch the ground), and internal admin organizers. Combined with the proven 3-zip opening this can be the winning solution, and indeed it almost is. VERY comfortable (far better than Daily) and address most of my needs. There are however some shortcomings: this baby won't stand on its own No external / internal attachment point no key clip Grab handle is thin and rubs my head This pack is definitely heading to the right direction 3DAP (Sweetpea) has evolved in the last 10 years I hope MR will keep evolving UA, UA is definitely the flagship of admin series.

This bag is really sturdy with great pockets for storing small items. Two small complaints. The weighting of the bag is weird. It doesn't stand up on its own but instead wants to fall forward onto the zippers. The other complaint is the water bottle slots on the outside are pretty useless. I get they wanted to make it durable and not have some mesh that could catch on stuff but when the bag is even moderately full, you can't fit anything into those waterbottle pockets as the inside of the bag pushes into the pocket's space. May as well just not have them. All in all, Mystery Ranch makes incredibly sturdy products that are stylish and useful so I'm still happy with the product!

Had I only known how great it is, I wouldn't have waited for my old pack to fail. Very intuitive, efficient setup (to me) & build quality appears top notch. If it holds up like it appears it will, this will be a great value!

Bought this for the laptop protection and storage. Provides just enough storage for what I need without looking overpacked. The pockets on the outside would benefit from a stretch material for water bottles compared to what it has currently. The straps are extremely comfortable and ha e plenty of adjustability when carrying with a bit of weight. The trizip is amazing, especially when you don't want to dig through the bag to get to an item at the bottom.

I really like this backpack, the 3-zip design makes it easy to get into and the internal organization is great. The design makes it easy to get to what you need quickly. A few minor points: 1. The bag doesn't stand up on it's own. Not a major issue for me, I just find something to lean it against. 2. The water bottle pockets take room from the interior. This is good in that it keeps the bag sleek (better for fitting under an airplane seat for example. It's less good because you can pack less inside when using the pockets.

I bought this to replace a Yeti Crossroads backpack I had used for years. I also own a couple of other MR products, so I wanted to replace the Yeti with a Mystery Ranch. This has all the things i look for in a backpack - the organization is perfection. I only wish the external water bottle holders didnt take away from the interior capacity. I do give Yeti the hands up on this, their water bottle holders do not take away from the interior - they swing out. Other than that, I love this bag.

It's a nice bag, love the zips, straps etc, but the 2 interior floppy pouches just get in the way and really aren't good for much.

This back pack is great the storage is great the pockets are great the build on it is great. I feel the only thing holding it back is the side pockets I feel that they need to have some kind of stretch to them. I pack this back pack full, so cause of that I can't fit a coffee flak or hydro flask in the side pocket without it feeling like I'm going to crush my laptop to it. if the pockets has some stretch to them it would be perfect
