I have used other Mystery Ranch products as a wildland firefighter. Among all the competitors, it was an easy decision to go with Mystery Ranch.

Ever since I became a backpack junkie I've been constantly on the fence of getting into MR bags, had been hearing quite a few interesting stories about their packs and bags and I'm finally here. The 2-DAP is the first ever MR bag I've bought in my life and so far I'm genuinely satisfied with the overall design and build quality. Even with the manufacturing of this particular bag being outsourced to overseas, it's still really well-built and totally up MR standards.
The main and the only compartment is quite spacious, the Tri-zip design makes accessing it a real breeze and there's definitely enough zip pockets for loose or small items. The laptop sleeve is a neat addition to this bag for more EDC-oriented utility but so far I've yet to put one in there, it looks rather thinly padded but should be adequate as long as you avoid dropping the bag or tossing it around when there's a Lappy in there. The adjustable Futura frame and yoke shoulder straps are highly ergonomic and makes the bag super comfortable to carry on my back all day long. All things considered this is the best feature I've found on this bag. For me nothing else on a backpack matters more than weight distribution and MR did an excellent job with their ingenious design.
My only complaints are the carry handle which is just a simple nylon strap sewn into the bag and that there's no way to tidy up the excess straps which is scattered all over this bag. The former hasn't been much of an issue for me as the strap for the carry handle is firmly sewn in place and doesn't feel like it's gonna break off any time soon with my current 5-ish kg load. The latter bothered me a lot but it's actually a pretty quick fix with any type of strap keeper you can find, though I still wish MR could make those come with the bag since they're quite cheap and shouldn't jack up the overall price as much.
Although it's advertised as an EDC bag, it's actually rugged enough for outdoor use, which is one of the reasons I picked it up. I'm planning on using it as my primary all-around backpack for school, travel and a wide range of outdoor activities. The 2-DAP so far have been performing admirably for me and hopefully it'll still be going strong for the rest of the time when I need it. MR has truly blown me away with the 2-DAP and now I'm eager to give a shot at their other bags such as the 3-DAP I'm currently saving up for.
All in all, I highly recommend the 2-DAP for both EDC and outdoor use. In reality it's far more versatile than what MR advertises it for.

I bought this pack about a month ago and it is awesome. It has a ton of uses from civilian to the field. I have been using to carry my items for work and its great. It easily fits a Macbook and iPad in the padded compartment and still has a ton of room. It is well made and has a ton of different ways to access the items inside the bag.
If you are looking for a versatile low vis backpack that can be used in a variety of situations, this is the pack for you!

I was worried that the 2 day pack was not going to hold as much gear as my everyday pack I was using. I was wrong! I couldn't be happier with this pack Mystery Ranch. I love how light it is as well.

I've had this bag for a couple weeks and used it on a work trip. I was able to easily access my laptop and tablet, plus hold all my miscellaneous items. Had lots of room. Very comfortable. I was looking for a bag that had room for everyday work use. I'm impressed with the quality of the bag as well. Would recommend.

So I picked this pack up to act as a larger carry-on / day pack for all kinds of things and it's been perfect for those roles. Well made, well thought out, I'd buy it again in a heartbeat

Bought this a month, ago and have used everyday since. Have been all over Central America with it, wanted one bag that would fit my entire life for the next 4 months in it and also pass through budget airline carry-on rules. This is it. No problems with the stitching or build of bag, carries clothes, IPad, toiletries, small necessities. Water resistant and very durable (thrown on top of busses constantly, on ground to sleep on, tied down). If you can pack light and want a bag that can do it all, I highly recommend.

I've been using my 2 Day Assalut Pack daily for the last four months. I've used it for transporting everything I need to and from work, hiking, travel, and taking to the field. I'm an Infantry Squad Leader and am not easy on gear but this bag is holding up extremely well. This is the perfect bag for taking on patrol when you don't need everything in your ruck but want to have what you do need. If you're a military member and can't afford the Military/US made bags you can rest assured that this is a very viable option to the 3 day assault bvs. I have buddies that have more rockers than me that have the 3 day bvs and I even prefer the smaller size of the 2 day. This bag makes carrying everything more manageable for trans.
Best feature aside from the robust construction of the yoke and straps is that the MOLLE makes this bag expandable by attaching pouches. The Coyote is perfect for all around use as it's civilian friendly as a carry-on for air travel or for hiking/taking to the gym, but also good for the field.
The 2 Day Assault Pack has replaced several of my other bags. Based on it and a couple other Mystery Ranch products I own I'm planning to sell off some other gear to save money for a Blackjack 100 to use on an upcoming deployment.
Five stars for an exceptional piece of gear.

Well designed. It would be nice if some sort of strap management were included such as Velcro or elastic stays so the tag ends aren't dangling around. Nothing that electrical tape can't fix though. Otherwise, I'm happy with this bag.

Lots of room and options on a well-priced smaller pack. Wish it had the padded waist strap.

Very well built! Haven't tested in rainy weather, but seems to be built to resist water. Cool option to carry laptop. Great for weekend trips. A little small for anything over 2 or 3 days, but great for short trips. Decent frame inside to distribute the load correctly.

I bought this bag before a trip to Europe and have been using it everyday. It's been awesome so far and I like the pocket sizes and locations. They are well thought out and made with a purpose. The 2 pockets in the top lid are great, the dump pockets have been awesome to keep taller skin over items separate from the main compartment where I've been keeping sweatshirts and whatever bulkier items. The laptop and document pouches have been great as well. I can fit a pair of shoes in the laptop pouch and maps of the cities we travel to in the document pouch. The harness system is great, I like how the straps stay out, it makes putting the bag on much easier than a traditional style. It's as if someone is holding the straps out for you to get your arms through. My only complaints with the bag is the stretch side pockets just aren't tall enough for my Yeti container. It's tall and when full it's too top heavy for the pocket to contain the bottle. Also the bottom cinch strap isn't the greatest. If the pocket had slots for the strap to pass through it could have been the same as the top strap. It would cinch the bag down without collapsing the pockets as well. Overall this bag is awesome and it's served me well

I am a bag guy. I could open my own store.
I bought this bag specifically for my trip to Iceland. It's big enough but not too big; use it as a day bag but carry a few extra things to be prepared for anything in Iceland.
I have an older Dana Design hiker backpack - the quality of the Dana still impresses me - and I see that heritage come through here at Mystery Ranch. I'm happy with my choice.

So far I have like this bag. Seems to fit well, Looks amazing, feels comfortable.
Cons: 1: Zipper Tabs are junk 2:The bag says its 1650in^3 but I am pretty sure they include the side pockets. 3: They need to make it designed for a Hydration pack I added one but its not specifically for this. 4: This bag is mainly used for EDC type use and it doesn't really have any good (pen sleeves, or anythig like the Assault24)
I specifically went with this bag because it was bigger but honestly probably should have went with the Assault 24.

Solid construction, good features, looks like it would last for years. My only issue is a minor one. How hard or how expensive would it have been to put elastic keepers on the straps to organize all the strap tails? You gotta shove the ends of the straps in random places. But good pack all around.

I was in need of a pack that could be used to carry a laptop, books, etc for office work but then could easily be used to guide an outdoor day trip. I have used this pack for a month now doing just that and it has worked perfectly. I also used it to travel internationally and it worked great for me. I used it as my carry-on. I placed it in the overhead compartment because I had no room for my feet when it was under the seat in front of me. The brain has two zip pockets which are great for carrying your "quick to get" items. The two long "bottle pockets" on the inside are great too but if you pack them full it fills most of the space within the pack. The two internal zip pockets are bigger in size and when full, are still out of the way. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the external pouches. They appear to be designed for 32oz bottles but unless you attach your bottle with a carabiner the bottles will fall out. The pack is comfortable to carry all day when used with the chest strap and waist belt. You can easily remove both as I did this for the international flight. FYI, Some international flights wanted me to gate check my bag due to full flights. Because I knew they were doing this and due to me wanting to keep my bag because my laptop was inside, I used the cinch straps (external compression with clips) to make my bag smaller. As I was passing through the line they stopped me to look at my bag. They shared that they thought the bag was bigger than that, and let me go on through. I share this because I almost bought the MR pack that didn't have the Molle webbing with compression straps or external pockets but I am glad I didn't. I wanted those features and it still worked. If you are looking for a pack you can carry around town through the week and within the wilderness for a weekend, this pack is for you.

Bought this bag about 6 months ago, and use it most days just for running errands around town. Also works great to carry my 16" Macbook Pro and all accessory drives, etc when needed. The size is perfect for general use. All the internal pockets really help to keep everything well organized, and I also added a couple accessory pockets with the MOLLE webbing on the outside of the pack, to keep important items in reach without having to get into the main compartment of the bag.

This pack can fulfill most of my various needs. I can use it as a college backpack, day pack for hiking, and/ or overnight bag if I have to leave town for a hunt or travel. I am riding my bike to work, and this pack can carry everything I need for my shift. It does not interfere with my ability to ride or cause me any backaches throughout my trip. Finally I have used it as a range bag, which can carry all of my shooting supplies needed. Glad I bought it and recommend it for those with an active lifestyle.

First, this is a great backpack. Built well, feature rich, and designed intelligently.
That said, it's not made in the USA. It wasn't explicitly stated that it was, but I searched "USA Made Backpack's", and mystery ranch came up on the list. It's made in Vietnam, which is fine, better than the usual country we see gear from. But at this price point I feel like there would still be profitability if this pack was made stateside.
Also I wouldn't say this is a 2 day pack, its a bit small for that personally, but maybe other people pack even lighter than I. BUT, I bought it as an EDC/Carryon bag and for that it shines. Easy accessibility, great pocket placement and variety, and a heavy load is distributed well.
All in all I'm happy with my purchase, but wished I'd explored more usa made option's in this price point before purchase. This fact is a priority for me.
But again, these are my own gripes and I do feel this is a quality product in design and manufacture, and should be considered if you're looking for a pack that will likely last you many miles.

I had for few days now. I like it. One thing I would add is securing strap for a laptop or tablet.

Have now used the pack for a month and put it through military field use - here are my thoughts:
Pros: as always, well engineered and high quality materials from MR. Super comfortable and can support a lot of weight without issue. This incorporates a lot of good features from the 3DAP, particularly the internal organization. The laptop compartment can double for hydration, the side outer pockets are nice too for easy access items or smaller water bottles, though the can fit a full size nalgene. MOLLE compatibility is good, and the compression straps do a good job of reducing movement of the stuff inside the pack.
Cons: more like quirks. I find it surprising there is no hydration ports - the tubing can be routed through the outer zipper of the laptop pouch, but the zipper will work its way down with taking the pack on and off over time. It's also only on the right side. I find this annoying but not a serious issue. The downside with the compression straps is you have to pick and choose what kinds of pouches you attach - do not choose super large ones that will interfere with compressing the pack down or reduce your access to the straps. Again, not a huge deal to me just a quirk. Also, bare in mind that the compression straps don't radically change the dimensions of the pack - don't expect it to compression down to super small sizes. Final thought: it would be nice to have some D rings for hanging stuff on the shoulder straps - more a quirk with me than with the pack but I'll throw it in there.
Overall I recommend this product, as with anything by MR. I love the bag overall and definitely suits my needs for EDC and field use.

I love most features of this pack - has lightly padded laptop pocket WITH quick access from the side (great design, love to see TSA's reaction), plenty of internal pockets, easy adjustment, and new yoke & frame design.
What's not my fav - MOLLE everywhere...considering this is supposed to be an EDC urban pack, not sure why MR added so many MOLLE??? I'd think the daisy chain from old gen 3DAP would suffice...but that's just me.
This pack is a lot lighter than 3DAP and just a little smaller. Good size for EDC and also for the overnight travel. Fits perfectly under the economy class seat as well.
I think MR nailed this, I have ASAP and 3DAP, now with addition of 2DAP I have something for every occasions.
