The calf is small. I suppose some women have stick legs. I have moderately sized calves, never thought they were fat. These couldn't zip up all the way. The side-stitching is a really nice detail on a simple boot. The brown is a little orange-y. The overall feel was very tight and structured with no give.

I wanted these boots to work so bad, because they are gorgeous!! But the calf area and the shafts are just SO narrow...I've run into this with a lot of the Frye boots. I don't have wide calves by any means, but there was no way I was going to get the boot zipped up all the way. If you have narrow/stick calves, these will probably work, but otherwise, good luck. Overall, the leather coloring and stitching detail on the sides of the boots is beautiful and if these had fit I would have definitely kept them. Recommend sizing up half a size too. I'm hoping Frye starts offering "extended" calf options...

I love these boots. They fit great and are really comfortable. After 1 wearing, they really soften up and fit perfectly. I hesitated to order because I saw people say they are tight on the calves. They were perfect for me and my calves are not thin at all. A tiny bit snug on one side, but loosened up perfectly after the first wearing. Definitely recommend.

These are lovely boots and they broke in nicely over time to be comfortable. They definitely develop a weathered look quickly but that’s not a problem. However, the heel has worn through in only months and then one zipper broke. It’s a cheap, plastic zipper, not at all up to the quality of the leather around it. At this price point the boots should have been good for several seasons.

These boots look great online but once received they were as stiff as cardboard and I couldn’t even get them on. Returned...the search continues.

These beautiful boots are lovely suede with the added detail of nice stitching on the side. They fit well in the calf but I do have thinner legs. I sized down a half size and they were great after the first wearing.

Perfect! I saw a lot of reviews about how narrow the shaft is, and knew they’d be a good fit for my skinny calves. These are gorgeous boots and best of all, feel great on my still-healing foot after surgery. Love! And thanks for the teacher discount, Zappos!

Beautiful, comforatble and very nice leather. Very rich color too. The boot shaft is narrow enough when I have jeans on. These are a keeper!

Love these boots!!! They fit like a glove for reference I have small calves and at my 5’0 stature tall boots can b hard to find... they fit perfect!! I have narrow feet but for those with a wider foot bed not sure these would b the shoes for you... can’t wait to get lots of use out of these...

I generally wear a 7.5 wide or 8 in regular width. I got these in 7.5 and it felt a bit tight on one foot initially- I wore them around the house and they loosened right up. I normally have trouble finding boots that don’t gap on my calves and these fit snug but comfortably. I bought these in the suede, I think the suede may have a bit more give.

As a counterpoint to another review, I did not find the calf width too narrow. I am not petite-5’10” and athletic. But the calf fit was fine if not a little large for me. The brown color is lovely. I didn’t keep them BC they were too similar to my current brown boots but otherwise they were very nice.

I was so happy that these fit as well as they did....I like the style and the calf has just enough room, and hug my leg nicely. I like the feel of them and they look great with a long skirt.

Fit is fine for me. I ordered my usual size, and there is a little slippage in the heel, but with thicker winter socks, the extra space will be a good thing. The calf fits me well, though my calves are on the smaller side and I ordered the black suede, which may have more give than the brown leather. I like the look of them - very simple, in a good way!

The boots fit great, feel great, and look great - I'm very happy with them! One warning - they are not colorfast if they get damp. I got caught in a drizzle and my white jeans will never be the same. I'd recommend wearing these only when it's dry out.

Not sure why people complain the shaft is narrow, I’m 5’8” 155 lbs athletic build and I had too much room in the calf area. The foot part was tiny and I’d have to go up at least another size. I purchased 9.5 and they hurt my feet in less than a minute. I wear 9-9.5 in every other brand and I have another pair of FRYE boots in 9.5 that fit perfectly. ????

Love love love just a simple easy boot to get on and wear - as easy as tennis shoe. Boots in black look great on me, order normal size.

Snug fitting but assume will stretch a bit.

Had to return because ankle area was loose. II need thin calf area and they are good for that. Really high quality leather, very well made. Just didnt fit my thin ankles.

These are great. A little big for a 6.5, but with thick socks they’re good. I had read that the calf was tight. They were slightly snug when I tried them on, but they stretched within the hour. And they’re gorgeous! I love them! If you like your boots a little more snug or know that you won’t be wearing them with thick socks, size down a half size.

These boots fit well on the foot and are true to size. The calf size seemed a bit on the large size, but the style, quality and comfort compelled me to keep the boots. I've been happy with all Frye boots that I've owned.
