I'm always looking for maryjanes that are comfy for me in neutral colors. I hoped the Agathis would be it! Well, I like the style of the shoe, soft suede, attractive cutouts in the toe area, but the shoes are too wide for me -- the sides gape. (I wear Elegant line sandals for narrow to medium feet and they're perfect -- these are wider, more of a true medium). Also, the strap is set waaaaay back too close to my ankle and I think it would rub most everyone. It needs to be farther forward -- it would also look better I think -- especially if it was slightly diagonal, as some of Naots maryjanes have been. So, I'm returning it and will keep looking. Too bad. Note: I wear a 9.5 and always buy a 41 in Naots to get the length I need. They're always a half size shorter than other brands.

This is my second pair of the black. I wear an 8 1/2 and got the size 40 for my first pair. Wonderful feel except the fit is a little loose. I ordered a second pair in the black in size 39. Perfect! I did try the lighter color which is beautifully nude, but I just did not look as elegant as the black does for me. These shoes are soooo comfortable. As I said before in a review, the perfect shoe for bunions. Covers them and the leather is so soft and giving.

I usually wear a nine narrow shoe, but I need a wider toe box because of a small bunion on one foot and hammer toes on both feet. This shoes work for me. They fit nicely and are very comfortable.

I ordered the Agathis in speckled beige leather. The color is a true neutral, more of a suede than a smooth leather. The overall look of the shoe is pretty, more so than many of the current Naot mary jane styles. The shoe is soft yet supportive. There is no heel slippage and the strap is comfortable and not binding. The front of the shoe has a reinforced lining that should help the shoe retain its shape with wear. This style with its cutouts is also lined with leather, but the leather is lighter weight than many of my previous Naot shoes. I'm not certain how the Agathis would stand up to daily wear, but I intend to wear it occasionally when I need a dressier flat shoe. Regarding Naot fit - recent Naot shoe purchases have all been a bit shorter in length. I wear an 8 1/2 shoe and ordered the size 40, or 9. The 40 (9) fits like an 8 1/2. I still find that Naot works well for a somewhat low volume and narrow foot. The Agathis appears to be more of a medium width rather than running narrow.

The fit and look is perfect. Soft leather on top which is perfect for bunions! Wider than most Naots. Soft but very supportive. Very feminine which is a must for me. The strap rests higher on the instep which also makes it perfect!!! I never liked maryjanes until I found a slim, raised higher on the foot strap. The black is soooo elegant. I ordered the speckled beige and may order another black.

The agathis style is noticeably wider than the Koru, for example. For a narrow foot, it's definitely wide. The length feels shorter than other Naot shoes. I wear an 8.5 and a 39 in Naot sandals, but a 40 in the Koru model. The 40 in that style is generous, but ok, and the 39 is a bit short for me. The size 40 Agathis feels more like a US 8.5 in length. The size 40 in the Agathis is therefore a little better in length than the Koru. The width is a problem, made more pronounced by the openings that add a dressy touch. I bought the suede shoes, and they may be slightly softer and have more "give" than the leather style. I put a light insole in the shoes to have a better fit. I also feel that because of the open work in the shoe, the arch support is not great - -again, the suede style may be give a little less support than the leather would. All in all, I really like the design which is a bit more dressy than other Naot mary jane styles. About the strap - -some reviews claim the strap is in a bad place for their feet and was irritating. I didn't find that a problem.

I have this style in bronze, black, and now this neutral color( with the cutouts) that blends with grey, tan and black. Love them and they have been all over the world with me (Europe, China, Mongolia, East and west Russia, Hong Kong) in all kinds of weather and ....even moderate hiking. I love my new shoes! I wear an 8 1/2 and these fit perfect. The navy velvet suede is beautiful. I have multiple foot problems, especially Hallux Ridgeous and the support in the shoes for this is wonderful. Right out of the box perfect. Thank-you Naot and Zappos.

I've been a fan of Naots ever since my first long trip to Europe, when I thought I had high quality shoes that weren't. A lady from France told me I needed Naots, so the next trip I tried them and was the only one hiking for that month with NO foot issues. SO comfy and dressy enough that I not only continued to wear them every day to work after that, but would often wear them in the evenings to run in instead of my running shoes. It's SO wonderful to have shoes that not only look attractive/dressy, but also are the ultimate in foot support and comfort! It's worth the investment! You only get one set of feet!

From reading Zappos customer reviews, I now realize that my C-width foot fits into a Naot Koru footbed. I apparently have a "pie-shaped" foot (wider toe box but normal width in the heel. I have a number of pairs of Naots in the Koru footbed and I usually swap out their footbed for a Vionic footbed which keeps my feet from pronating. This shoe was a teeny bit snug so I used a shoe stretcher for a day and now they are perfect. The shoe is very comfortable and I can walk all day in them. The strap is at my ankle which I prefer - for me, the classic MaryJane look is not my style. I will keep looking out for new Naot styles in the Koru footbed.

Great shoe for the occasion for which I ordered them. My feet are the problem. I need to remove the foot bed of purchased shoes to insert orthotics. This, unfortunately, did not work for this otherwise perfect shoe. BTW: Your website is cheerful and positive and easy use and the speediness of delivery was amazing! Thank you. bk

The toe area was much narrower than I've experienced in previous Naots, and I have a narrow foot. However, I also have morton's neuroma in one foot, and the metatarsals were really compressed with this shoe. Also, the cutout outline was stiff and sharp and painful just in trying on. It's nice looking, as far as Naots go.

Third time was the charm in my search for a Naot closed-toe shoe that filled the bill for a “smart casual” wardrobe. Adorable, chic and comfortable as always, beautiful in the black nubuck which I find more elegant than the black leather. As usual, Naot’s size 7 (European size 38) is a perfect fit for my 7-1/2 feet, and neither too wide nor too narrow. So pleased to adding these to my Naot collection of mostly sandals. They never wear out and are well worth the upfront price for years of style and comfort. (Note that the first two styles I tried were Sea…beautiful but clunkier than I wanted, and Matai, which had a defect in the finish of the left shoe.)

I have small feet with a high arch, narrow heel & wide ball of my foot. I always buy a full size smaller in Naot -size 4 in these shoes. These shoes were comfortable out of the box & I wore them all day. I do wear tights with the shoes.

These shoes are very comfortable, and very cute. They look fine with a skirt as well as pants. I was pleasantly surprised, because I have bunions that sometimes need a wider toe area, while my heels are so narrow that many shoes slip of the back, especially with this brand. But in this case, they were just perfect right out of the box. I have not work them outside yet (since I am not going anywhere these days), so I can't tell for sure how my feet will feel after a long day of walking, but I am hoping to take them to Italy in the fall--if we can travel there by then.

I just ordered another pair of these in the blue velvet. In these shoes I go down a size to not be too loose for the leather is very giving. Wonderful if you have bunions. I feel so feminine when I wear these elegant shoes. They could use a bit more arch support, but it is easy to insert another footbed or add a thin liner. Beautiful material. I have these in the black velvet and want to hopefully purchase another. So pleased with this shoe for my many problem feet.

I love the fit of Naot shoes, and was very pleased with this purchase. The only reason I gave them five stars is because after wearing the shoe all day, I have found that they are a bit tight around the toe box and not as comfortable. The cutout gives the shoe an elegant touch, and they can be either dressed up or down. If you are looking for this type of shoe with moderate arch support and a little flair to the design, these will probably work for you.

This shoe is very cute and comfortable. The fit is perfect for my size 11 narrow feet (42). I had to return them because I have a severe pronation of my right foot, and the shoe has soft leather sides and there was no support for my foot.

There was one review that said they needed a smaller size than usual due to large toe box. I have a marrow foot and ordered the smaller size, that was the wrong thing to do. Order your regular size I went down a size. I also order a Matai, and my usual 38, which sometimes felt on the large size, but that is better than too small, and it felt like a snugger fit, which might not be bad. I have ordered the Agathis in the 38, I think this will work and a dressier looking shoe with the same comfort is what I am hoping for. Since I need a different size that is why I can't give it a five star on everything.

I have a lot of problems with my feet and need solid arch support. Spent 10 days walking through France in these with no regrets.

Naot makes great shoes, hands down (or feet down, Lol)! They are quite pricey, but once you get your feet into them, you will understand why. They are shaped like a human foot. They accommodate my aging, changing feet. I've found that they last for years and you can buy new cork inserts for them when the old ones wear down. I ordered 3 pairs of less expensive navy flats, good brands that didn't fit, prior to biting the bullet and returning to Naot.

Love these Mary Janes! The shoe is comfortable and covers my toenails which are currently unpainted to give them a break! I am a t rue US 8 1/2 and always order a (9) 40 in Naot closed toed shoes, these fit perfect. I don't know why I bother trying any other brand of shoes besides Naot, because I always send them back. My left foot pronates and has arthritis, so the moderate arch support in Naots is perfect for me, any more support, my foot starts to hurt. I tried a Dansko Mary Jane, that was sooo cute, but it hurt my foot, so I had to send it back.

I love this shoe. The fit is so comfortable and supportive. The suede leather is so forgiving on my bunions. Very feminine style with the cutouts. So glad the strap in higher up. Don't really like the maryjane style, but since the strap is placed higher on the foot it passes for me. This shoe can pass for sporty or for dress. I have many foot problems and this shoe is a winner. The brown is beautiful and dressy. The grey goes everywhere and with everything. May have to get the blue. Please continue to make this wonderful shoe.

Soft comfort with good support.

I ordered the speckled beige leather in size 41. I am a 10 in shoes normally. The 41 felt a little short so decided to return them for a 42. Called Zappos and, unfortunately, they did not have a 42 in this color. I returned shoes nonetheless. Ended up purchasing a size 42 elsewhere and they fit perfectly. Would have preferred to buy through Zappos though due to their excellent customer service!
