I don't know what was wrong with my pair I received, but the bottom was so sticky that it was adhering itself to the floor and making a very annoying sound with each step. I couldn't deal with it and I returned them. I don't even know if they were comfortable because I couldn't wait to take them off.

I purchased this pair of Alpine sneakers because my friend told me that they were the most comfortable shoe she had ever purchased. They felt fine when I tried them on and walked around the house. I wore them for a 40-minute walk, and couldn't wait to get home and get them off my feet! The left sneaker was fine. The right had an area above the joint on my big toe where it rubbed and was unbearable after the 40 minutes.
Of course, I can't return them because I wore them for 40 minutes.

I expect much better things from Merrell. While their shoes are often firm, there’s usually good arch support and cushioning. These had neither. I would NOT recommend them...
