it is good item, some kind of too big, too long, the zip seems not strong enough. wind will in from right side, if u add a wire around waist will be better

Fits slightly tighter to size .
Zippers drove me crazy, the side pockets limit the functionality to the extent that I would be returning this model.
The down was awesome in warmth , tried in -5 and it was great, plus the fact that it was responsible down is something which would make me stay with north face.

I wanted to love this coat because I can tell it's high quality but it is too small in the shoulders and back area, and I don't have broad shoulders or back. I don't understand it, it fits everywhere else but I can't lift my arms in it. Sad

This jacket is very warm and waterproof but has some major design flaws for me. The hood is very short and it would only go up to about the middle of my head which was very annoying for a Parka with a Snorkel hood, with strong gust of winds it would fly right off. Another issue is the upper hand warmer pockets, they are in a very awkward position and make it very uncomfortable to put my hands in them and I would never use them because of that which was disappointing. Overall the coat is very warm and looks nice but for me these 2 flaws were too much for me to keep this jacket.

In my opinion not for weather under 30 deg. Nice look and fit though.

We live in Boston. I thought this coat would be too warm, but it is not. It looks bulky but is not that warm. I got my usual size M and it was too big. Size S seems better but still looks bulky and sleeves too long. I am keeping it just because I always get coats from north face.. wish it fit better and warmer though

Like the wind proof and warmth along with the waterproofing.
I have three gripes.
1. The zipper sucks. 50% of the time it is a struggle to get it to work.
2. The upper hand warming pockets need a lining. They may stop the wind but do not warm anything.
3. Serious static build up. Every time I take it off I have to consciously avoid getting a spark from static build up.

I've had the jacket (previous model) for 10 years and it has served me well in -10 c conditions when it is not windy. I live in Helsinki where in the winter it is usually very windy and wet with sleet (due to the proximity of the ocean) rather than arctic "cold". In these types of windy/wet conditions (when the temperature is around 0 c) the jacket does not really work as the wind gets through (especially through the cuffs). The jacket is also fairly bulky compared to other similar parkas. I would recommend the jacket to someone who lives in a cold area (Canada, Northern Scandinavia etc.) in a more continental climate as opposed to a wet ocean climate.

The jacket is wonderful - except for the zipper. VERY hard to zip. Zipper is too small and almost impossible to get lined up. North Face usually makes better zippers than this. Back to the drawing board with this one.

I'm submitting this as a recommendation to NorthFace. This parka would be excellent if they would just add a drawcord at the hem or waist. Unfortunately the cold goes right up your back. The gaiter in the hood is fantastic but I can't recommend this jacket as is. I have a high cold tolerance but I shouldn't feel cold in this at 35 degrees. Opt for the Gotham 3.

I'm not sure if this is just the style but it's way too bulky and specially chest size runs 2 sizes big. I'm 6ft and 160lbs but the extra small even fills a little large. I notice
cold air can get through underneath the jacket since the waist tension is none adjustable. The fit and finish of the jacket however feels nice, especially in urban navy colour. However it I could go back, I would just buy something that fits me perfectly to keep me warm in Canadian winters.

Too heavy for everyday wear. Restrictive in movement. Sleeves were too short for my 6'3" /65 lb son. Ordered size L

first off, I ended up returning this jacket. Its very large and puffy. This jacket is perfect for the below freezing temperatures but dont look to wear it outside causally when it's cold/chilly out IT'S TOO MUCH PARKA

It's a nice coat but I was surprised that there is only one interior storage pocket and it's very small. My wallet barely fits in there. A large phone won't fit in there. There should either be two pockets or they should make this pocket bigger.
Also, the pulls on the zippers are falling off and I've only had the coat for a few weeks. The metal pulls on the zippers are very small, so without the string pulls it's hard to open the pockets. This is a pretty big flaw.
On the plus side, the coat is very warm and I've received a couple of compliments on the style of the coat. It's also favorably priced against similar parkas.

coat is just about perfect for its intended purpose, but for the zipper or dual zipper. It is way too small for a man to grasp and align the dual zipper channels in order to zip it up. the idea for the dual zipper is good because you do need to upzip it from the bottom if you want to sit down. my suggestion is to use bigger zippers on all your men's clothing.

Ordered online and it ran bigger than I anticipated. Seemed very warm and great for very cold climates, but a little too much for casual city wear.

3 stars is generous. I have to put on reading glasses to engage the microscopic, stubborn zipper. I've tried bee's wax, etc., still it takes 5 minutes to get the zipper going. Meanwhile I'm roasting and getting more frustrated. I thought the zipper would loosen up with time, but no luck. Great product otherwise, warm, made for frigid Minnesota winters, but you might find yourself using language unfit for this review before you're ready to go outside.

Bought this jacket for the single digit temps we've been having this year. Does a great job of keeping me warm even when I'm just wearing a T-Shirt underneath. The only downside is the zipper, it's really annoying. I had read other comments about this hoping it wouldn't be that bad, but it really is.

I like this coat except for the zipper. Whomever designed this zipper should be fired, pure and simple. The zipper is very hard to get started. Once started the zipper works fine. I have owned several The North Face coats and each zipper worked fine except this coat.

Jacket looks great online. Finally arrived today so I was excited to try on. To my disappointment, this jacket is huge. Like, comically huge. I am having a hard time believing this is a medium, but that is what the label says. Seriously is more like a XXL. Length is fine, but width of the body and arms is just ridiculous to the point that I'm just swimming in the jacket, even with a few layers on underneath.
I am 6'0 tall, 33" waist, and 40R chest. I have two other winter coats from North Face in medium, one fits just right and one is a little small. So the sizes for these jackets really makes no sense to me. Thinking I might try a small instead, but I'm afraid it will end up being too short.

The jacket's zipper is abominable. I thought it might be a defect until I read other reviews with similar complaints. Maybe there is a learning curve? (Which there shouldn't be....it's a zipper) otherwise, very warm, but bulky coat

This is an extremely warm jacket which holds really well from warmth perspective in the New England winter. I literally start to sweat if the temperature in above 40 degrees.
However, the zipper is seriously badly designed. First of all it does not start from all the way down (rather 4 inches from the bottom) which makes it harder to find. Secondly, putting the zipper sides together is such a hassle it takes a couple of minutes to just get it together and zip up. It gets extremely frustrating after a while to waste time on it.
I am seriously contemplating returning it to North Face for this reason alone. or take it to a tailor to fix this issue.

This is a beautiful coat but I sent it back for multiple reasons. The front zipper does not go down far enough allowing the bottom of the coat to blouse out in high winds. The cuff straps even at their tightest setting leaves the cuffs too loose for weather protection. This coat just isn't heavy enough to protect from seriously cold (sub zero) weather.
