These shoes are very heavy. I did not realize how heavy they would be. They are extremely stiff. I hope the more I wear them they will stretch out and soften up. Other than that a very high quality shoe. Perfect for people who have to wear a certain type of shoe at work. No pain standing on my feet for 8 plus hours a day.

The Vertex felt good when I was breaking it in at the office. It was only for 1 day at 8 hours and they felt very comfortable walking around. However, it's a different story when constantly walking for 4 hours in the warehouse. My legs felt heavy and drained afterwards. I just needed to get used to them. By the end of the week they felt very comfortable and just like a pair of sneakers. The top of the shoebox does have an angle on it and it started to rub somehow on my middle toes on each foot. It started as a blister and turned into a callous on each side. Unfortunately by the end of my shifts those areas would need extra care. According to my steps tracker, I was taking anywhere from 22K to 30K steps 5 days a week. That equates to about 11 to 15 miles per day. My feet and legs would be tired by the end of the day, and I do have orthotics for them. They are also slippery on the concrete floor, I don't know if it's because they've worn down some or it's just the way they are. It does have a small tear on the inside top of where my arch is. I've had these shoes for about 3 months. I do wear them when I'm not working at Amazon, and they feel a lot more comfortable for light duty work. I'm looking to try another brand next, or another Merrell model.

*ORDER ONE SIZE SMALLER* SEEMS LIKE A GOOD SOLID SHOE. ONLY DOWNSIDE WAS HAVING TO RETURN THE FIRST PAIR I RECEIVED. I WEAR AN 11, BUT WHEN THEY ARRIVED THEY WERE WAY TOO BIG SO I EXCHANGED THEM FOR A 10 AND THE 10S FIT PERFECT. I AM ON MY FEET ON CONCRETE IN A MACHINE SHOP 12 HRS A DAY AND THEY ARE PRETTY COMFORTABLE. SEEM SOLID SO FAR. LOOKED UP REVIEWS FROM OTHER SITES AND THESE MERRELL BOOTS HAD THE OVERALL BEST REVIEWS. I CHOSE TO ORDER THEN FROM ZAPPOS BC THEY HAD THE BEST PRICE AND ZAPPOS CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST OF ANY COMPANY IVE DEALT WITH.

Good brand name and it looks pretty stylish, until I put them on and did a test walk….man, after 5 minutes my feet were aching!! Had to return them.

I really wanted to like these shoes, but they are too heavy for me. I work on my feet all night tending bar, and I like my step to be lighter so I can move quicker. These also run large, I got them in my usual size, but my feet were swimming in them, and with the heaviness + looseness, I felt like Frankenstein. If they were a half size smaller, they'd be more comfortable, and they are nice and wide. I am going to try another pair of Merrills that aren't as heavy, and also take it down a half size, and I think it's gonna work.

The shoes and design is good but the inly thing i have a negative feedback is the Q.C. You can see on the picture i took if only i can have it returned and replaced but zappos uses USPS and in guam you have to have aPO box or registered area of delivery

Bought half size bigger than my existing pair because existing pair is a wide toe whereas the new pair is a normal width toe, the materials of the shoes feel hard maybe needs time to break-in to shape my feet. The style of the shoes look like hiking shoes, awesome

Just about 2 years later still looking and performing great. Except for Merrell laces. Why do they never stay tied?

They need to be broken in, but once they are, they have good support and are comfortable for a steel toe shoe/boot. People like the look of it, and it matches many outfits.

I ve been bouncing shoes sizes for year's, 10 to 11. My youth consists of same thing, bouncing shoe sizes. So. I ordered size 11 medium width from looks it did look like the shoe's was bigger than a average size untill I tried on and it was true to its size. I'm coming from the basketball shoe's series over into the real. So I love it, compare these to basketball shoe's, I would say the basketball shoes is a disappointment when could get some durable shoes that van last for years compared to shoe's that only last 4 months.

Correct fit and size, long lasting due to great materials, heavyweight was hard to get used to but worth the inch lift and durability they provided. Used as daily shoes and they went through a lot of rain and snow and are still in decent shape after 18 months averaging 7k steps a day with many 24k+ step days mixed in.
