I started wearing these about a year ago when I turned 70 and needed more ankle support, comfort, lower profile. I know for myself with these Crestwood Mid Waterproof that I need to get one size larger than I wear and a wide width they run narrow for myself. I hike in the Great Smoky Mountains a couple times a year and here at home 3 to 4 miles just about every day on a kind of rocky and up and down trail, no flat trail for me ha ha. These are not a backpacking hiker or it is not going to last you for 3 or 4 years like a KEEN Men's Targhee II or Men's Moab 3 Prime but they are but for what I do they are comfortable and supportive. I have the Cordovan/Squash and just bought these Black/Charcoal ones to to have a different color. Remember if your new and just stating out as you hike your feet will swell a little. For myself I wear Thorlos Men's Kx Max Cushion Hiking Crew Socks that Zappos sells. You also can change the arch supports to your liking if you want. Zappos I must say they make shopping so hassle-free.
I'd also recommend:
KEEN Men's Targhee II or Merrell

I use hiking boots as my daily work boots. I tend to be on my feet 12 hours a day and naturally want to be on my toes. Unfortunately, being on my toes is hard on my knees, so I tend to replace my boots every 60-90 days as the sole near the toes wears down. I've worn out the soles of many Columbia boots, but never had the chance to wear these boots down before the inner lining, the 'sock' of the shoe, folded on me. I was in damp conditions when this happened and the inner moisture of the shoe must have caused this. Anyway, after this happened I couldn't wear them again. When I put them on, it feels as if i have a scrunched up sock on one of my feet.. very uncomfortable. I am in the market for a new pair of boots now, which is why I felt it necessary to write a review.

The width was tighter than previous Columbia boots and had to return. I ordered size larger and too narrow.

I got the 14 wide. The length and width are good with it ever so slightly squeezing the top of my foot.

Great boots and be sure to go up the 1/2 size recommended. Arrived 1 day earlier than promised. Great company with very well made products.

You get to a point in life where your comfortable. Comfortable with your wife or girlfriend enough to a point where you know what she will say or do before she does it. I almost feel that is what my relationship is like with Columbia. I anticipate a certain quality level, a certain comfort, sturdiness etc. I don't even have to ask and that is what Columbia delivers time and time again. The Crestwood were delivered and it's like I welcomed home a close friend. Comfortable, sturdy, quality and know what to expect and they deliver time and time again. They did it again with these boots. I have to admit I wonder if I will ever receive a shoe i hate from Columbia!

Great hiking boots. Very light and comfortable. Went on a short 2 1/2 mile hiking trip and they performed flawlessly.

I like them a lot. I have other same size Columbia shoes though, and those fit perfectly. These ones are slightly smaller. I bet with a little bit of time they'll fit nicely. Just as a "FYI", order an extra 1/2 number size shoes.

Nice shoe but was narrow on the toe for me. I wear a narrow size boot so I would recommend to get the wide size.

Love them, upon arrival I almost returned them as they seemed a bit small but since my aversion to going to usps I took a walk in them instead and they turned out to be perfect. I have always gotten ankle hikers but since sadly I have entered senior-hood I decided to go for more ankle support and am happy with that decision. I buy all my footwear here and wish this color was available in all models but sadly the young like the brighter/bolder color schemes than us older dudes.

I'm someone who needs ankle support and these are perfect for that. Comfortable, sturdy, durable, everything you need in a hiking shoe. 10/10 would recommend.

I used these boots to hike 4 separate national parks in Utah. We spent a week and covered dozens of hard, rocky, muddy and snowy miles per day. These boots took a beating and held up just as expected. My only concern was the toe area. I normally wear a 11.5 boot, but after 2 days of hiking, my toes were so compressed that I ended up losing a nail. After I got back from the trip, I got a size 12 wide, and have put some miles on them and have to say that did the trick. My suggestion is to go up at least 1/2 size and maybe from medium width to wide width if you have a high step or wider foot.

Looks to be a good boot, but I had to return them because of the sizing. I did reorder a larger size, so we will see.

These Hiking Boots are well designed and are stylish. However, the Tongue is not designed well and is not stylish because this Tongue has cut-a-way contours. This rendered them to be non-waterproof.

A great shoe. I am on my fourth pair. The soles wear out quite quickly. I have difficulty finding comfortable, well fitting shoes. These are a home run every time. Unfortunately the lace guide in the middle position has broken. Disappointing.

I bought this literally a month ago, and the shoes fit my feet perfectly well, and they look more pretty than the reference pictures. Sometimes I even prefer it over my Timbs.
