I bought these for my husband who is not a rubber boots and gortex jacket kind of guy. He wears a 10 in plain, low top, canvas Converse and these fit him in a 10.5. I put the two shoes sole to sole and they are similar in style and length, with the Sorels being just a tad wider. They have a velvety fake fur lining that is enough to keep you insulated in cold rain, but not so much as to create a sauna in your shoes if it's not too cold. The waterproof suede looks like it would be stiff, but it isn't. The whole shoe is unexpectedly flexible. The tread is good quality and I don't expect any slipping. We're hoping for our first rainy days to start this week, so I can't attest to waterproof actuality, but we are trusting the quality we've experienced with Sorel rain and snow boots we've purchased in the past. My husband seemed happy that someone made "rain shoes" just for guys like him who grew up in the 80s and 90s and still like their Vans and their Converse... but want to have dry feet and good traction without dressing like someone else or feeling like a dork. Also, the grey is perfect and neutral. The black was too flashy with the huge bright white letters on the back. Probably the younger guys will love that though. I think these will be worth the money as long as you don't trash your stuff.

Having tested out these shoes in the rain on long walks in both Chicago and Edinburgh, they are completely waterproof, incredibly comfortable, need no breaking in, and you should order at least a half-size (and maybe a full size) above your standard size. I normally wear a 12 in almost everything, and--based on reviews here--ordered a 13; it fits perfectly with thick hiking socks exactly as I had intended. I should say, however, that the style of the shoes makes them look substantially bigger than they are: when you pull them out of the box, you will think that there is no way they are not much bigger than you ordered. I almost sent them back because of that, but I am glad I did not because of the comfort level; I've done 10 miles in a day in them twice, and they felt perfect. If you are looking for something more like a traditional tennis shoe but waterproof, Converse now has some high-top styles that fit the bill. I'm sticking with these, however.

I enjoy the look and feel, but after two weeks of use (nothing crazy - walks with the dog on snowy sidewalks and through the park) the seal on the right foot broke near the toe and now it leaks. The timing could not have been worse given the recent blizzard. Literally stopped doing the one job it promises after a couple weeks.

I love the style and fit of these shoes. The lining is soft and the shoes feel more like slippers than boots. The toe box is generous and would work well with heavy socks for extra warmth. They are supposed to be waterproof but I haven't had a chance to test that out yet. I hope they last a long time.

Super comfy. Went on a five mile walk the first time I wore them. Wasn't too cold, about 50 Fahrenheit, but I feel confident they'll keep my feet warm on truly cold days. My usual size of 10.5 fit perfectly. I wear normally wear either sneakers or boots, but now I have the best of both worlds and my feet couldn't be happier.

I purchased these for a friend and he can’t stop talking about how comfortable they are. He suffer from back pain and said these boots are light and he can wear them for long hours without discomfort to his back. They run true to size.
