Very nice looking boot, but ... to me the photo looks like the leather has a shine, I was disappointed that it doesn't. It has a dull nubuck finish. There is a little padding at the top but it doesn't go very far down, leaving the side of the ankle with no support. If you like the flat finish and don't care about padding the ankle, these are great boots.

I had to exchange these 2 times because they were two sizes too big. I wear a 11.5 in sneakers but I had to get a 9.5 in the boots. The return process was annoying and long. The boots after the 3rd time if good and are waterproof.

The leather felt stiff, the cushioned ankle support and tongue covering was not leather, to me it felt like cheap plastic type material. Timberland should have used a better material for these coverings. And the top shoe lace holes were a struggle to get the laces through. I couldn't imagine going through this every day. They were sent back. Again you get what you pay for

I love the look of the boot and Timberlands in general, but this boot is very uncomfortable. My ankles were extremely sore after wearing for 2 hrs.

I ordered these boots as a middle of the road option. I didn't want super expensive Red wings and thought these would be perfect. For the most part they are but after less than two weeks of minimal use, mine are already tearing at the seams. Very disappointed as this is a comfortable and sturdy boot, just hoping Timberland will work with me on this issue. Was hoping the quality was better than this.

Don't buy these online. The sizing appears to be unique to Timberland. A size 11.5 normally takes a 10 / 10.5 in these boots

These boots look great when they arrive in the package. They are comparatively light and really warm.
The out-sole had great grip and doesn't slip even in wet conditions.
There is also primaloft layering which keeps the boots really warm and cozy.
My only issue is that it is not comfortable around the ankle area and one of the hard surfaces on the inside of the boot keeps tugging chafing against the small bony projection on the inside of the foot near the ankle.
I initially thought the shoe might need some breaking into , however even after wearing it for a couple of days for hours on end, it still chafes and gets very uncomfortable. I have used Timberland boots in the past and none of them seemed to have this issue. I tried adjusting the shoe lip as well to cover the area but that didn't help as the shoe lip goes back to its designated position as expected. This might be an isolated issue and may not apply to everyone.
The quality of the shoe otherwise is awesome and it is built to last and keep you warm. The styling is classic as well and looks great when worn. I only wish they were comfortable to me.

I always wear a size 10 in men's no matter what brand or type of shoe... which is why I was surprised that these were too big for me!
I did try them one and walked for a minute and they are very comfortable and I love the style but unfortunately

I love these boots, but love is not enough of a reason to keep them. The issue with the heel cup digging in is real and painful. They look beautiful, and are obviously well-made and are durable like any other Timberland boots. The issue with the ankle rubbing and digging in though is a poor design, that really is sad to see on a boot at this price point. Until the hard heel cup beneath the leather is reduced in size, I can't recommend these boots.

These boots look fantastic but OUCH when you put them on! I've been wearing these boots for a month now EVERYDAY hoping to really break them in. The inside of the shoe rubs and presses against the ball of your ankle constantly! The pain is Excruciating and Uncomfortable. I had to quit wearing them after noticing the side of my ankle was bruised. I read other reviews and people are saying the same thing. Timberlands you guys need to place some nice padding on the inside of these shoes to avoid this. I would not recommend these!

Boots look nice, are well built, and warm. That said, the issue with the ankle discomfort is real. I tried breaking them in but after 2 days it was unbearable. So I put a shoe insert in to make my foot sit higher which got rid of the ankle discomfort but made the boots really tight. Now one of my big toes is completely numb for trying to make these boots work. Shame on you timberland for not product testing them more thoroughly....

Not at all what I was expecting. Overall the boots are uncomfortable and part of the boot digs into the outsides of my ankles. Certainly not worth what I paid for them.

First the good: the port unions look great, fit well, seem great except in one particular spot around the ankle. The bad part: first of all around the ankle there is a stiff insert between the outer leather and the inner lining. I assumed this insert is there for stability around the heel, but when I walk it bends inwards so that that it's top edge jams into my skin just below the ankle bone. This was super uncomfortable, annoying, and distracting and makes me not want to walk in these shoes. When they were new, I assumed this was just new shoes that needed to be broken in. It feels like there is no padding in the boot and after walking around for a day had cuts on each of my ankles directly below the ball of the ankle from insert around the ankle/heel on the boots. I definitely do NOT recommend unless you want sore ankles afterwards.

The fact that this shoe only comes up to a size 11 is appalling and uncharacteristic of Timberland as a shoe company in general.

Hubby LOVES the boots, however, he needs an 11.5. Unfortunately, the biggest size showing is an 11 :(

The border of metal area covering the heel wounded my skin after only 10 minutes of walking. First time buying this brand, already used them, dont have box they came in and now Im stuck with them.
Tried different socks, still no change.

Very nice boot...but the first time I wore them I couldn't believe how uncomfortable one boot was. Only on the right foot, there is something painful on my ankle. I checked and apparently the fold of the tongue is what causes this. There was an obvious red mark on my ankle. I wish I hadn't worn them out of the house but hope I can still return them.
I'm a big fan of Timberland's but this pair is definitely disappointing.

After wearing these for the first time I have painful chafing on my ankle. The lower half of the boot is firm but where it meets the soft upper half at the ankle there is a ridge that sits just below the ankle bone. Every step presses the side of the ankle bone down on this stiff ridge. Whether tied tight or loose it doesn't seem to make a difference. Very disappointed, will be in touch with customer service. Can't see being able to wear these long

Ordered two sizes of this boot in medium brown color and the boots are two completely different colors (shown in picture). I understand there are differences in hides but I've never seen something this bad.
