I am 5'8", 150lbs and 62yo. I bought the large by viewing the sizing charts. So the bottoms are a little large but may shrink some after laundering. The warmth is amazing. The color is perfect. I was in a time crunch so couldn't try to exchange as the company so graciously provides w return labels. Well worth the $

I've used these for dog training, running and snowshoeing in windy, wet weather. I ordered my usual size and despite the yoga pant design felt they are cut too low and the waist too tight for where it hits. I returned them for one size larger which brings the waist up higher. The legs are loose but snug enough to fit under compression tights. If you're on the larger side of the size range, I'd consider ordering up.

We've had an unusually warm winter so I haven't been able to try this out, but I think they will keep me nice & warm. I'm looking forward to it.

kept me warm as a hiking base layer, but don't love to wear them without a lay over them. I also feel the waist band is slightly weird, it feels like it doesnt sit evenly, almost like it dips in the middle. material is not itchy.

I have worn them once. Wished I had the chance to try them on in a store to compare the medium and small, I might be an in between. They are warm and I am glad to have them.

This is my first purchase (outside of the gym) of "leggings". They are warm and fitted. But without the usual compression of most leggings. That may or may not appeal; it's fine with me. What's best is that they don't bag at the knees.

These are warm but feel a little bit itchy to me. I kept them because I tossed the tags and packaging.

I wear leggings around the house every day. I have some cotton ones with pockets for the summer, but when it's cold, I want merino. These leggings are a perfect fit, great fabric, but not useable for daily wear around the house because they DON'T HAVE POCKETS!
I know they're a layering piece, but please make a pair with pockets!
I looked at the moto tights, but people said they have too much polyester. I want something warm and soft.
PLEASE MAKE A PAIR OF THESE WITH POCKETS!

I have previously purchased 30 bellow thermals and wanted to upgrade after they started to pill up and fall apart after a year or so of use. Overall these feel warm, fit smaller than expected and are a bit itchy. Would have expected more for the jump in price from my previous pair. I'm a size 8 short and should have bought a large instead of medium.

These leggings are comfortable and warm and seem thick and durable at the beginning of their life. About a year in they started to get runs and then numerous holes. They did get a lot of wear, around the house, town and trail, but I wish they had held up for longer than a year. I'm not interested in fast fashion and bought smart wool for the quality. I did recently buy another pair bc they are good leggings/base layer while they last. Hope this pair goes longer than the last!

I've had my 250 leggings for about a month. Overall, I love them and would buy them again. From my perspective, they're more utilitarian than anything else. Excellent for layering underneath a pair of hiking pants or jeans in cold weather. Very soft fabric - I did not expect that! I would categorize them more as women's long johns. Don't expect form fitting, booty flattering leggings. These are not those. The fit is perfection when you first put them on, but after a few hours, the fabric in the legs really loosens up. I wouldn't wear these leggings on a night out where I am trying to look cute, but will definitely use them every time I'm doing something outdoors in the cold weather. And, TBH, I do more of the latter anyway. So, if you're looking for a comfortable, warm, well made pair of ladies long-johns, I recommend the Merino 250. (Four stars because of the thin waistband. This could be improved.)

I've used the pants a few times now, backcountry skiing. They are super comfortable, warm, but still allow to wick moisture away when you get sweaty on the uphill! Very happy with them. Only comment is they are a little looser than expected. The length and waistband are a great fit, but they aren't as form fitting as I was hoping. This means the legs ride up a bit when trying to put them in ski boots, but if you prefer to roll up your legging so it isn't the boot, then this might be a plus for you.
For reference, I'm 5'9", 138 lbs, purchased a medium.

This is my second pair of Smartwool 250 base layer tights, which I wear as a leggings in the winter (I live in Minnesota, so they are worn a lot). These are like 80% of the way there, and my only real gripe is that I wish the rise was higher. Another inch or two or coverage would be perfect. I am taller than average at 5'8" but I have an average torso, and this was a problem with my last pair too. This pair does have a nice wide waistband, which is great.

This was going to be my first pair of smartwool base layer leggings... I ordered a small but unfortunately they are too big so I returned them. For reference I am 5'2 and 108 lbs. The material was very soft and comfortable. I do plan on ordering another pair but extra small size. I'm an avid hiker in all seasons in Minnesota & Wisconsin so having quality clothing is important. Looking forward to a future purchase and testing them out.

Hmm, not sure about the new model. I bought two sets of 250's about 10 years ago. Loved them and they held up well, but due to normal body changes after having kids, I needed to size up. I was disappointed to see that this new version has an elastic sewn into the waistband. For reference, I'm 5ft and 110lbs with a slim/athletic build and the waistband is kinda pinchy. Otherwise, fit is good. But I prefer the old style with the softer waistband.

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone with sensory issues, as it is slightly itchy. That said, I often move my laundry day specifically to wash these so I can wear them again! Best woolen underthings I have ever had < 3

I wear these as long underwear and as leggings in my cold mountain house. The fabric is smooth, soft but not fuzzy, and I like having a wide yoga-style waistband instead of a bare elastic strip around my waist. They launder well, and I love that they can go in the dryer. I first ordered a M per the size chart, and they were tight. I don't do tight clothes. So I returned for a L which was still close-fitting but gave room to breathe and move. The inseam is way too long on my 5'4" 135 pound frame, but the rise (body) is perfect, so I have no idea how these would fit someone tall. I like that they are not high-rise, as those styles come up to my bra line. 4 stars given due to long inseam.
I still have a set of Smartwool long undies from around 1995 when Smartwool first started. They are fleecy ivory pointelle wool and feel like a cashmere sweater. I prefer them on ultra-cold days, although the bottoms are too big so I've taken them up in the waist. I hope these new bottoms last as long.

I thought this would be pants but they look like underwear. I decided to keep them to wear under pants when it's very cold. They are comfortable as fit well.

Due to nerve damage from a car wreck I wear Smartwool quite a bit even in the summer. These summer nylon socks are great for boots or dress heels when wearing my pants!

Soft, cozy, good if its not too cold. I would have liked it more but it falls down even though it fits. I would have liked a higher waist that protects my lower back more. Also would have liked a heavier weight.
