These are crazy crazy long. Too bad they don't come in short length I had to return them

I've used the pants a few times now, backcountry skiing. They are super comfortable, warm, but still allow to wick moisture away when you get sweaty on the uphill! Very happy with them. Only comment is they are a little looser than expected. The length and waistband are a great fit, but they aren't as form fitting as I was hoping. This means the legs ride up a bit when trying to put them in ski boots, but if you prefer to roll up your legging so it isn't the boot, then this might be a plus for you.
For reference, I'm 5'9", 138 lbs, purchased a medium.

This is my second pair of Smartwool 250 base layer tights, which I wear as a leggings in the winter (I live in Minnesota, so they are worn a lot). These are like 80% of the way there, and my only real gripe is that I wish the rise was higher. Another inch or two or coverage would be perfect. I am taller than average at 5'8" but I have an average torso, and this was a problem with my last pair too. This pair does have a nice wide waistband, which is great.

This was going to be my first pair of smartwool base layer leggings... I ordered a small but unfortunately they are too big so I returned them. For reference I am 5'2 and 108 lbs. The material was very soft and comfortable. I do plan on ordering another pair but extra small size. I'm an avid hiker in all seasons in Minnesota & Wisconsin so having quality clothing is important. Looking forward to a future purchase and testing them out.

Hmm, not sure about the new model. I bought two sets of 250's about 10 years ago. Loved them and they held up well, but due to normal body changes after having kids, I needed to size up. I was disappointed to see that this new version has an elastic sewn into the waistband. For reference, I'm 5ft and 110lbs with a slim/athletic build and the waistband is kinda pinchy. Otherwise, fit is good. But I prefer the old style with the softer waistband.

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone with sensory issues, as it is slightly itchy. That said, I often move my laundry day specifically to wash these so I can wear them again! Best woolen underthings I have ever had < 3

I wear these as long underwear and as leggings in my cold mountain house. The fabric is smooth, soft but not fuzzy, and I like having a wide yoga-style waistband instead of a bare elastic strip around my waist. They launder well, and I love that they can go in the dryer. I first ordered a M per the size chart, and they were tight. I don't do tight clothes. So I returned for a L which was still close-fitting but gave room to breathe and move. The inseam is way too long on my 5'4" 135 pound frame, but the rise (body) is perfect, so I have no idea how these would fit someone tall. I like that they are not high-rise, as those styles come up to my bra line. 4 stars given due to long inseam.
I still have a set of Smartwool long undies from around 1995 when Smartwool first started. They are fleecy ivory pointelle wool and feel like a cashmere sweater. I prefer them on ultra-cold days, although the bottoms are too big so I've taken them up in the waist. I hope these new bottoms last as long.

These seem to run large, but are great quality and will last!

I bought these for winter runs. They run a bit big and fall down quite a bit, but are still a quality product

Soft, cozy, and warm. The elbows bag and loose shape after each wear.

I thought this would be pants but they look like underwear. I decided to keep them to wear under pants when it's very cold. They are comfortable as fit well.

Due to nerve damage from a car wreck I wear Smartwool quite a bit even in the summer. These summer nylon socks are great for boots or dress heels when wearing my pants!

Soft, cozy, good if its not too cold. I would have liked it more but it falls down even though it fits. I would have liked a higher waist that protects my lower back more. Also would have liked a heavier weight.

I have many smartwool items and usually love them. The fit of these is off. There does not seem to be enough room in the butt which makes the waist line drop as soon as you do any actual movement. If it had a higher waistband or different fit in the butt these would be better

I purchased these for my upcoming backpacking trip since I'm a HUGE Smartwool fan (socks). Looking at the measurements and some comments on sizing I decided to size up, which now I'm conflicted about.
The waistband feels like it sits weird (especially from the back) and the center crotch seam lowkey digs gnarly when I pull them up. It's not a very flexible seam so I don't even know if the M would've been comfortable. Either way, it feels like a woman didn't design these. Lots of bunching around my inner thighs.
I love this brand so much and aside from the fit, the leggings are warm and feel great but like if the fit sucks, I'm not going to wear them comfortably. I paid a lot for leggings that don't fit me the way I'd like. Maybe I'll opt for the M. I really want these to work.
I recommend Smartwool products all the time, but these leggings just fit so weird.

These are very warm, but they don't last. I've worn them a total of about 12 days, I was not hard on them, I washed according to the instructions, and yet there are holes all throughout them. The first hole, by the ankle, came on day three of wearing. There's now a few holes in the outside of one thigh, and several in the back, above my butt, as well as the crotch area. I love that these keep me warm while skiing, but I cannot pay 100+ dollars on a base layer pants that do not hold up with basic use.

I love the fabric (soft and cute pattern) but the rise is a bit short at the back for me, and the side seam on one leg twists around to the front.

Wanted to love these - but seems to run short in the rise but really-really long in the legs. Will do the job - but much too
Long for me (5'4"). Band sits below natural waist and doesn't quite cover the parts I want to keep warm.

These are super comfy but run large. I am true small in all of my pants but the small in these are noticeably loose on me.

Bought these as a base layer for colder weather. I would size up if you are bigger in the middle. Feels a little constricting. I am hoping they will loosen up with more wear. Otherwise, very soft and warm.

I bought this base layer to go snowboarding. It's super soft but it fits big and after wearing it for a bit the bottom part stretched and look sloppy. It looses its tight fit and shape.

I have a pair from 2017 and a pair from 2023. Both were gifted to me for Xmas. Obviously the older ones have sustained more wear, but they also keep shape better, have an entirely elastic wasitband, and have not had any holes. However the newer pit gets stretched out and falls down over time under my pants because they don't have an elastic waist. I also got a hole in the lower leg where the fabric was worn thin. These are still the best merino leggings I've had considering the warmth and price point, I just feel like the quality has decreased over time.

Fits great - plan to use as base layer under drysuit undergarment for polar diving. I think it'll work great.
