I love the HOKA One One Clifton. It's been my go-to running shoe for YEARS (models: 2, 3, 4 & 5). I just ordered the Clifton 6 to replace my overworn 5s. And I ordered the same size/color (9M/black) as I've always ordered in the past. The Clifton 6 runs BIG! The 9M felt significantly larger than my 5s. Zappos was awesome & offered hassle-free exchange for the 8.5M. I've worn them around my house, but the 8.5M feels slightly snug in the Toe Box area. They just don't fit like the Clifton 5s or prior models. So, very sadly... I'm more than likely going to return the 8.5M & perhaps search for a new shoe. This makes me so sad because I LOVE the Clifton! This new model is not the same running shoe. If you decide to order, I'd go 1/2 size smaller potentially. You might have the same "runs large" experience with you usual size. I can't speak highly enough of Zappos however, I'll more than likely look for a different brand or model and go from there. P.S. I hate to be writing this review, but the Clifton 6 is a different shoe -- not sure the tweaks they made to the style improved the overall model.

I was a little disappointed when I tried these on and discovered they ran a bit too wide for my foot. I've used Clifton 4 and 5 in a size 7 regular with success (just ran my first Half marathon in the Clifton 5) but the Clifton 6 was just too wide on my foot. It still had the same wonderful cushion and toe box that I love from Hoka. This version sadly just didn't work for me. Not giving up on the brand though!!

I'm generally disappointed with these shoes, the company and the experience I had with Hoka. I was in the market for a new pair of work shoes with lots of shock absorption and comfort. The Clifton 6 was highly recommended by a few different people. I was fitted as a women's 8 in store but they didn't have an 8 in store for me to try on. I went home and ordered them directly from the website, which also suggested a size 8. These feel at least half a size too big, if not a full size- depending on your feet. They felt a little roomy but nothing bothersome when I first got them. I'm used to my shoes not being super snug, I prefer it. It wasn't until I wore them at work for my 10 hour days walking on concrete that I realized something was off. I had blisters on my feet that I have never experienced with any of my other similar grade shoes. My shoes were also delivered to the wrong house, after I paid for expedited shipping. I reached out to the company to see if any other customers had a similar problem with discomfort and any suggestions they could give me.. I got an automated response. I think these just run big. Everything I found online said they ran true to size but that was not my experience. I've also already noticed parts of the exterior shoe design peeling from the fabric. I've had these for under a month. Obviously I couldn't return them after wearing them so I'm stuck until I can afford to get another pair of shoes. Everybody raved about the Clifton's and I wanted to love them but that wasn't my experience.

Unfortunately I didn't decide I didn't like the shoe before my 30 days ran out. It was exciting trying it but it just didn't work for my foot.

This shoe has a good design with the rocker bottom, and I appreciate that it was available in wide width in an eye- catching color. However, arch support and cushion is virtually nonexistent. I like the shoes well enough to keep them, but am irked that I can't wear them until I purchase separate insoles. Shoes that cost over$100 should have decent support.

I have two other pairs of these Hoka Clifton 6 and they feel wonderful. These particular shoes hurt my right foot along the right side so I feel there is a flaw. The left shoe was fine.

This was my 4th pair of Clifton's (previously ran in 3,4,5's) and unfortunately I had to return the shoe. I bought these to use in my upcoming marathon but after several long and short runs my forefoot was sore in this model of shoe. It's not my foot because I bought the Rincon too and will default to this shoe for the marathon. Not sure if the padding or the slightly larger design of this shoe was the cause. With all this said, I will continue to run in Hoka's as they offer the best ride out there. Great thing was I was able to return the shoe for a refund even though I ran in them! Thanks Hoka for that option.

Shoe was well cushioned and I really wanted to love it but the toe box was too narrow and too shallow. Knew my little toe would be rubbing so back they went. Thanks Zappos for making this so easy

These shoes were very comfortable when I first received them....they felt great for my first few 3-mile walks. I have a wide foot and a bunion. I ordered the wide size and they fit as expected and felt good on the bunion. I have custom orthotics, which fit well in the shoes. However, after a while, my lower back and hips started to act up. I've had issues in the past, but do not have issues when I walk, unless I have the wrong shoes on or I've injured myself some other way. I stopped wearing the shoes for a few days and my back & hip problem went away. Even though they felt great, I have to return then.....back to the drawing-board.

They didn't work for me.. it's not a bad shoe but when I ran twice in them I got a really sharp pain in left outer ankle and had to stop twice worse the second time.

I have had 4 pairs of Hoka Cliftons. I use them for avid running and the elliptical. I loved the Clifton 4 and the Clifton 5. Unfortunately the Clifton 6 is a wider shoe and the arch feels like it is too low. I even put my super feet in the shoe and it did not help. I have loved my cliftons in the past so I tried to see if the more I wore them I would like the shoe, however due to the changes my feet started to hurt and I felt strain near my heal from the arch. I have since purchased another pair of Clifton 5's and will have to use the 6's which were more expensive for general walking. I hope the 7's can go back to a less wide fit with a higher arch!!!! Otherwise I will have to change shoes.

I know many people love their Hoka's, and I decided to give them a try. I have a narrow instep and heel, but need a wide toe box for comfort. When I took these out of the box, I thought they looked HUGE. I wear either an 8.5 or 9 in athletic shoes, depending on the fit, and per my previous purchases, Zappos recommended I get a 9 in these. They were EXTREMELY wide as well as feeling a full size or more too long. I had a good 1.5" of room above the top of my toes, and I felt like I was wearing large clogs. I appreciate the support the shoe had, but the overall look/feel was awful. Sorry Hoka--not for me.

Have purchased Hokas for years after falling in love with the Clifton 3. The hiking boots I own are fantastic, but there is a serious issue going on. The quality and consistency are beginning to be a big problem. The cushion is not impressive for the price. The shoe runs large and the toe box feels more like the Bondi. The tongue is short, so if you use the top lacing holes to prevent heel slipping, there isn't much to keep the laces from digging in to the top of the foot. I sent them back.
In an attempt to get a different pair, the online chat kept saying everyone was busy. Sent an email to finally get a reply the next day. The next size down is on backorder. The other styles that were recommended to me are also on backorder. One isn't even available until the end of October!
It's just sad. After the 3's & the 5's, it's just going downhill. Guess I'll be trying to find another company that can actually get me a shoe. Why is it that companies always seem to ruin a good thing?

I have a pair of the Bondi 6 shoes in size 9.5 medium that I absolutely love - amazing comfort and cushion for my daily walks. Because I've heard good things about the Clifton, I decided to order a pair to compare. I ordered a 9.5 in the Clifton as well and it was way too long, and uncomfortably narrow for me in the arch. Disappointed that they didn't work so will have to return them. Guess I'll need to stick with the Bondi until I'm able to go somewhere to actually try on other styles to check out the fit and comfort.

the jury is still out on these shoes. my Clifton 5 ( I have 2 pairs because they fit so well and were just so so comfy for walking and running) fit perfectly...I think like a hoka should fit. the Clifton 6's do not fit the same. it looks like they made some slight changes to perhaps fit in with the mainstream nike, adidas etc of the world. but isn't this why people buy hoka's,...becasue they are not a NIKE or an Adidas? wish they hadn't made the changes and try to fit in with these run of the mill shoe companies.

I have the same shoe in black which I have worn to walk and the gym. That shoe is very comfortable. This shoe, that I am returning, was very uncomfortable both in the gym and walking. There is some wrong with this particular shoe.

I was delighted when I first received my clifton 6, in night job I am on my feet 12 hours out of the day. When I received my Clifton 6 they were ski comfortable it felt as if I was walking on air, but after about 2 weeks the heel of the shoe begun to run down.

So I am new to the brand and was lucky to try on a few Hokas.
Clifton 5, and this shoe saved my life. I have a lot of chronic back pain and feet pain. I will also say I am a RN and a dog that I have to walk. The pain in my back and feet were crippling.... until that shoe. But the toe was very angled and I purchased a 1/2 size up and was forced to tie the shoe tight and had scars on the top of my feet from the poor tongue padding. The shoe was PLENTY light and was basically a BONDI with less padding.
CLIFTON 6. Pain is back, not as bad but its creeping. This shoe is like you were driving a Strong Mercedez and switched to a Light Toyota. Lighter is not always better. I am very short and thin, and cant wear a heavy shoe. Clifton 5 was a shoe I would take off at work and show off how light it was at work. This shoe has great colors and a better accommodating toe shape. But the heal has an odd notch, that makes a neutral unstable. It is very odd. The sole is not balanced under the foot bed. The cushion is not very good quality and is not very good as a shock absober. It just feels like cheaper materials on upper and lower are on the shoe.
I am going to look for the clifton 5.

Have had lots of foot issues these past few years and was thrilled to find Hoka's, through my foot doctor. I have worn out two pair of Clifton 4's and while I was waiting for the Clifton 6 to come out, bought a pair of Clifton 5's on sale. I'll never wear anything but Hoka's again because their cushioning is so good.
I've waited all Spring for this shoe and am so disappointed that I have to return them. They feel too narrow and have an uncomfortable feeling in the arch. Although I have a high instep and use a custom insert, this shoe seems to have too much arch support on the outside of the foot, not in the right place for me. After wearing around the house for a short time, the outside of my foot by the arch is sore. Really like the Clifton 5, though, and will order another pair to replace this Clifton 6.
