I just went 3 weeks in Europe and I only brought these shoes! I hiked the highest peak (2900ft) in Ireland in Killarney National park and these boots made it as smooth as possible. I was easily doing 10+ miles a day and at the end of the day my feet and knees felt like they were taken care of! They were comfortable, supportive, durable through mountains, trail hiking and city site seeing. I would recommend this shoe any day of the week. Bravo Hoka!

I have literally tried on 4 other hoka trail shoes, several altas, some Brooks, and various la sportivas..in total over a dozen shoes I've tried for my upcoming thru hike. These are by far the best (for me) rugged, lightweight, breathable, and very comfortable (again for me) it's definitely worth trying on lots of shoes if you not sure, or are on the fence...rather then just going with what's in on YouTube etc.. or whatever. These shoes are well constructed, seem very durable, extremely lightweight, very comfortable, and have an awesome vibram megagrip sole. I will say they do run a iittle narrow, which might be an issue for some, however, I have narrow feet so for me they are great. And the shoes arent crazy narrow or anything. again it all comes down to the individual. Other than that I think these are an awesome option for any hiker or outdoor adventurer.

these shoes have held up well over the past 3 weeks, and i spend at least 8 hours a day walking. my feet are happy. my only problem with them is that they rub the back of my ankle in an uncomfortable way at the top back of the shoe above the velcro strap, even with thick socks. hopefully another week or so of break in will fix that, otherwise i’ll have to return them.

At a bit of a high price point i have to be very honest.
Its a nice shoe for sure. Two days out of the box i went on a 19 mile hike and was very pleased with the performance and comfort of the Arkali. I have a heel issue and did not feel the level of discomfort as i have with the other brands i have purchased over the last few months. So good on that. My only concern is the life of the velcro straps, it could be of a heavier type of velcro, but time will tell. Next trip is a 3 day backpacking trip around the CDT. So we shall definitely know more after that.

I wear this shoe to work every day. I stand all day and im in side and outside...different terrain. This shoe handles it all. My feet never hurt and i would recommend. I have two small complaints: 1, i wish was gortex....water proof. 2, laces do loosen at times. Please hoka fix those two things. If you do this shoe will be hard to beat.

There is a seam that rubs on the upper instep of the foot. They are not as flexible as I was expecting from a Vibram sole, but otherwise they are an excellent low boot(hits just above the ankle bone).

First off, these fit me great. My custom insoles fit inside perfectly and the stiffness of these really works for me for hiking, technical approaches, and light backpacking. I have some foot issues (arthritis) and am pretty active so am glad to find something that allows me to get out and enjoy the outdoors.
Now for the negatives: I wore the first pair out in a few months. The upper is fine but the lugs wore down within a few months of occasional use which made it uncomfortable to wear them. The velcro portion of the strap could be larger to accommodate skinnier ankles, the tongue needs more padding so you can tighten the laces without hurting the top of the foot. and they don't breathe well so when I take them off after even a short bit my foot is soaked. and lastly I don't necessarily love the looks (maybe some other color options would help), but I am going for fit over appearance.
I really like these but the durability of the sole, especially for the price, is disappointing. However, I did just break down and buy another pair. If these wear out as fast, I think they will be my last.
3/5 for durability and 4/5 for comfort

Still working to see how they feel. I've only worn them once, but a few more try's for sure in the future. I like how they work, and really want to try them in cold weather.

Wanted a Sturdy light hiker and so far this seems to fit the bill Comfy yet supportive...only didn't give five stars as durability is a key issue for me so I'll let you know. I'm normally a 9.5 in most shoes and my foot is mid wide...ordered a 9.5 and they are just a tad roomy but have enough adjustability that they work great!

I do long distance backpacking trips in the summer. I have been wearing trail runners, but wanted a shoe with more support. I've been trying theses shoes out this winter. So far I live the vibram sole, and the ankle support. They feel wide for my feet, even though I got the same size I've worn in other Hoka shoes. My main concern is that they lack ventilation. I think this would be a great shoe for thru hikers if you could give them ventilation so they would work in hot weather.

I am using the shoes for my summer SAR missions in Colorado. They are super lightweight, and are extremely comfortable for my foot. They have an awesome vibram megagrip sole. They are well made and has a very solid construction. A very reliable shoe for any long hikes.

Bought this shoe as an all around hiker/runner. I use it for most things I do. I have taken this shoe to summit peaks in the Tetons in the summer, have went on two 20 mile trail runs and several shorter ones. My only complaint would be the proprioception straps end of not locking around my ankles super tight (I have smallish ankles I guess), and if they could short those straps on future models I feel like they would be more useful. So far feel very durable and not showing signs of needing replaced anytime soon

Heel support is great and cushioned. The area under the ball of the foot is not as cushioned as I had hoped. Will need to try with a better footbed/liner. Not as much arch support as I'd expected.

So I ordered a 13 and to my surprise they where too long, well not super surprised because this happened with the Tor Ultra 2 bit in that case I went to a 12.5 and they fit perfect but not this time. Traded for the 12.5 and they are probably a quarter inch to small. Besides that they would have been excellent.

Fresh out of the box - a nine mile moderate hike on dry dirt and sand. Love the feel of this shoe though it's not nearly as close-fitting or supporting as a trad hiking shoe or as light and fast as a trail runner. My fit (11D with a wide forefoot) was a bit sloppy but I'm still dialing it in and I'm sure adding a custom foot-bed will make a big difference. My only real trouble was a hot-spot on my right achilles tendon from the neoprene collar when some dirt got in there. The same collar and velcro closure did a great job of keeping my feet tidy. Easily recommended as an all-day hiker, approach and scramble shoe.

Pros: Nice shoe in that it seems well made and is comfortable. The combination of laces and straps makes a comfortable, fast closure system.
Cons: Upper is neoprene. Although perforated, it is hot. But not waterproof. So this is a shoe for dry, cool weather. For me, this is not ideal; I would rather have a cool shoe or a warm, waterproof shoe. I don't recommend them for this reason.

Nice looking shoe in person, and seems well made (as it should for the price). However, besides being a bit narrow, I was surprised to find that most of the upper is neoprene. This is perforated but still warm and not that breathable. I'm disappointed to think these won't be good for warmer weather.

the heel strap digs in to the outside bottom of both ankle bones. I tried to "soften" them up but was unable to continue to wear them hiking and camping. I had to wear my old hoka running shoes. Too bad, before my ankles were sore and bruised the first short while of wearing them was totally awesome...great fit, support, etc...I kept trying to wear them but was too painful on the ankle bones.
