Sometimes a shoe feels like it was made for your foot, this may not be the case for everyone but I'm am extremely happy with my purchase. I did a nice hike at Yosemite and the extra ankle support helped on the slippery rocks of Yosemite falls.

I used this shoes to hike the Grand Canyon in the winter and they did a fantastic job. They had great grip on slippery surfaces and where light weight to not slow you down. They are not waterproof but did a great job. I do recommend this show for anyone wanting a light weight hiking shoes.

I initially bought these as my new day hikers but once I tried them out on a round they became my everyday Disc Golf shoes. They have great traction and ankle support and I'm excited about their durability. My last pair of Hoka's lasted 5 yrs and I was sad when I retired them.

I used Arkali on my recent hike to Old Rag in Shenandoah. This is considered a challenging hike with several rocks to climb and some serious traction is needed to be able to do this. I had hiked on this very same trail a few weeks earlier and the difference was stark. Arkali is hands down the hiking show that I will recommend to anyone - inspire of its stiff price tag :).

I hiked to Ice Lake and Island Lake about 10 miles round trip. We went from 9750 ft elevation to 12,250 ft elevation. Quite a challenge and my partners were worried I would have problems as I had not "broken in" the hiking shoes. They were fantastic and I had no problems. They were comfortable and great on the first hike.

I spent hours searching for a shoe that would be everything I needed in the sport of disc golf. I'd only recently heard of HOKA so I thought I'd check them out as I hadn't found anything I liked anywhere else. I came across this shoe and I am soooo glad I did!! I don't want to take them off. They are incredibly comfortable and the build in gator is a life saver on the disc golf course. NOTHING in my shoe. ever. Need I say more? I would recommend these shoes to anyone.

Preliminary reaction to these "Phenomenal". Took them out of the box and straight on a 8 mile hike with 2000ft of elevation gain and they performed great! No hot spots, no blisters just comfort and I was already nursing blisters on both heels from a pair of ill fitting Lowa boots that I tried to give one more chance before I got rid of them. The cushion on these is firmer than another Hokas I've ever had but still there's plenty of cushion, more than any traditional type hiking footwear. These feel responsive and light and pretty rugged.
I have two concerns though. I'm concerned about the rubber sole. I tried two pairs of the Hoka Thor hiking boots and each pair the rubber sole stared to peel off after a few weeks of use. The sole on the Arkali seems better, especially in the forefoot area. But the heel is mostly EVA with some rubber sole and looks like a potential area for failure. We will see.
The second part I'm concerned with is the EVA cushioning. I'm 6ft 200lbs without a pack and I'm concerned that the EVA midsole might pack out quickly. For instance I can only get about 150 miles out of the Hoka Speedgoats before the cushion is toast. But the Arkali use a denser EVA foam and hopefully they'll last longer. I'll be happy if I can get a full year out of them.
So if these can prove durable enough to last a full year then I'll be over the moon happy! Next week they are going on a 40 mile backpacking trip in the Gila National Forest. Lots of rocks and steep terrain. They will be put to the test.

I understand that these were made for trail running, but I purchased the for Disc Golf. It's important to have a shoe with great lateral support due to the torque required to throw a disc. Having the sole/mid sole cover the toe bed is also important due to the toe dragging. I was worried about the width of the shoe due to some of the reviews, but even with a 2E I had no problem with the fit of the shoe. I will definitely be purchasing more Arkalis over time.
This is a message to Hoka. There are a few of your competitors who now make shoes for Disc Golf. However, none of them compare to your shoe. It's a growing sport and I think it would be great if you could market this shoe for Disc Golf.
Thanks again and take care!

After knee and hip replacement 20yrs ago I have finally found a shoe that does not give me hip, heel, lower back pain after hundreds of thousands of dollars. I have ordered so many Hokas just in the case the world burns, I will comfortable walking on it.

I bought this for my husband after I bought and wore the Toa's on the TMB this summer. I loved mine so much I bought him this model. He says they are extremely comfortable and very grippy. He does not like hiking boots - mostly due to the weight of the shoe, but these are light and supportive around the ankles. They look good too. We both recommend Hoka hiking shoe/boots.

If you're wanting to scramble, climb, hike, or some trail running, then the HOKA ONE ONE Sky Arkali is your do-it-all solution. The Sky Arkali delivers in the comfort category. The multi-foam and high stack height of the midsole offered both a plush and responsive ride that kept my feet energized through longer hikes more than 10 miles. Running was surprisingly comfortable, although you will not feel as if you are overturning your feet with speed. Overall would recommend for a daily hiker and multi-outdoor use.

I bought these for my vacation to Banff. Out of box they felt like they were already broken in. There's a ton of adjustability. It was an amazing show. Hiked 6+ miles/day with ease, wore them in town out to eat, wore them while climbing a via ferrante on Mt. Norquay. They did it all!
