I've had a few pairs of approach shoes; 5.10 Guide, Scarpa Mojito, La Sportiva TX2. This is the most comfortable approach shoe I have ever had. The rubber doesn't feel as grippy as the 5.10's but it's are good enough for all technical approaches and easy climbing. The are holding up to the elements well and they easily wipe clean.

Fits true to size. I have a wide foot yet can open up the laces for perfect comfort.

Arcteryx took no shortcuts in building the Konseal AR. The shoe is solid, but not stiff. Looking forward to many years.

I love these shoes and gave my 1st pair a great review here.but Arc'teryx customer service and policies don't compare with their competitors. I only got the 3rd pair because the 2nd lighter pair version of this shoe literally fell apart after only a few wears. I sent pics and was told the sole pulling away from the fabric was normal wear & tear so they offered me 20% off my next purchase. Fast forward, I get these..LOVETHEM!, but 2 or 3 days later, they go on sale. I call back and ask for a store credit, or If I could order another pair minus the sale difference. I was told my only option was to return my existing order and place another order which would leave me without shoes for a week or so. Really you can't accommodate this requestreally?

I first got my pair in 2018, and they have followed me on many climbing trips, both here in the states and out of country. Four years in they still have plenty of rubber on the toe for occasional edging during harder scrambles and talus hikes to the crag. There is a bit of delaminating on the shoe at this point, but I think that mostly comes from all of the offwidths and squeeze chimneys they have gone up. Still, they are in surprisingly good condition. A lot of folks, myself included, were skeptical when Arcteryx entered the shoe market, but hot dang was my mind changed! I should get at least another year or so out of these shoes, then you can bet your bottom dollar I'll be getting another pair!

I love these hiking shoes (they are on the narrow side so perfect for me)! The stiffness mentioned in other reviews is perfect for both on and off piste trails (definitely not too stiff IMO). I don't feel the Goretex version is worth it for a hiking/approach shoe, but maybe that is just me.

Really pleased with these so far. I have a wide foot, and these fit well. Very sturdy, comfortable walking and standing all day.

I've been kicking around the cliffs of CO and WY as well as stumble through the jungles on Puerto Rico in these shoes and they are great. I've worn them through streams, mud, talus and Boulder hoping and they are still comfy. The soles are sticky so you don't slide around on tricky terrain, and the laces hold tight and keep you secure.

Purchased three weeks ago, worn every day. Primary function for me will be for downhill bike riding, scrambling and light but frequent daily market/work runs. Shoes don't exactly break in like other shoes, but are exceptionally comfortable right out of the box. The fit is slightly narrow, but sizing up leaves the shoe feeling long, and there's a good gap in my heel. My shoe repair guy will add material in the heel to correct it if it becomes a problem, but so far it's not let to issues or premature wear. They have been treated with a water repellent spray to prevent soak and that seems to be functional. The shoes are significantly heavier than their FL counterparts, but have a more durable feeling toe guard for sure, and the sole is much stiffer. I love the stuff sole. They hold onto rock nicely, stay supportive in the chunky stuff and when I'm on the bike they stay planted on my pedals without feeling the spindle through the sole.

Used primarily as an approach shoe I have found these to be super comfortable on all terrain types. The tacky sole is grippy (even on ice) and they have become a go-to piece of kit for every alpine adventure! I thought they may feel clumpy compared to lighter shoes, but they don't at all.

I alternate between the Konseal at the 5:10 guide shoe for all things that require a rope. The Konseal. still performs to its intended use faultlessly. Approaches , scrambles and low grade technical in its stride . Noticeable above other products is the reduced fatigue at the days end . Will aim to add the goretex version to the 'must have ' gear list .

The Konseal AR bites into frozen turf, soft steep slopes or loos scree and gives a secure feel on rock edges and talus.

I have used them for the entire spring/summer mountaineering season, and to a large extent they have replaced my mountaineering boots. Supportive enough for multiday backpacks, grippy enough to climb on moderate terrain and enough stiffness to use with crampons on a glacier or moderate snow slopes. I wouldn't use for front-pointing with crampons but good enough for almost every other scenario. A bit on the heavy side for just walking to a crag with daypack but amazing for alpine terrain. Very durable, plenty of talus time and still going strong.

This is my second pair of shoes from these guys. The first pair lasted just over three years. They still work but aren't waterproof anymore. These new Konseal's look great. They fit just perfectly. I like a narrower fit and these are great. Seem to have better laces than the last pair. Those laces only lasted for just over three years as well. I have car parts that don't last this long!!! Amazing work Arcteryx! Customer for life!

This was my go-to approach shoe while working as a full time mountain guide during the past year. I put a lot of days and miles on these shoes and they've held up impressively well. Last month I climbed El Cap in them twice and though I thought that would finish them off and send them to their grave, however, it seems that I'll still be able to get another season out of them- quite impressive! I feel comfortable climbing easy alpine rock routes in them. I'd feel good on moderate rock routes if they were a 1/2 size smaller. I'd recommend ordering a 1/2 size smaller than you would in a Scarpa or La Sportiva approach shoe. They do well in muddy and snowy conditions as well thanks to a gusseted tongue that keeps the dirt/mud/snow out. They're hands down the most comfortable approach shoe I've worn in 18 years.

The Konseal AR's are my second pair of Konseals having already got the GTX's (says something that I'd get a second pair) and they are nothing short of great. Build quality that you would expect from Arc'teryx, good looking and supremely comfortable right out the box! I've no doubt that I'll buy them again in the future.
